Re: Show 128 - "PT pt 2"

so, seeing that I'm an PT noob, which album would you recommend? I watched the video for Fear of a Blank Planet, and man, that's a dark song.
now I'm watching Blackest Eyes, and it's great. I tend to like a bit of melody in my songs, so, let me know which I should get on iTunes.
I'm thinking I'll like these guys a lot.

The early records (Downstair, Sunday) are almost new wavey, and Sky Moves Sideways has a definite Floyd vibe. Signify starts the transition, then the run of CD's (Stupid Dream, Lightbulb Sun, In Abstentia) are just great. Deadwing is a small step down, and the new one just a small step again, but still excellent.

I'd start with one of the three in parentheses.

I'm sure many others can share more ideas...

Re: Show 128 - "PT pt 2"

Yeah, Rog, it's really hard to say to someone, try this PTree album because they do tend to switch their sound a lot. Basically, I'd ignore anything before Stupid Dream; they were very experimental and self indulgent up to that point.

My preferences are for the last three...In Absentia, Deadwing and Fear...

...you could try listening to Rick's show and seeing what strikes your fancy..:-))
