April 6 & 7 - Bats For Pele [again!?!]

(Due to my internet troubles last week, I'm playing last week's unaired show this week. Oy! Tune in again April 13 & 14 for Queensryche, Joe Satriani, and SFF.)

I. Following up their self-titled debut, Emerson, Lake, & Palmer released their first major prog epic with 'Tarkus' ('71). Pink Floyd, Genesis, and Yes would also release sidelong epics in the following months. While not being entirely focused in tone with the song Tarkus, this album builds the familiar ELP material (Hymns, Rockers, Bar-Songs, & Classical/Jazz focus) that would pop up again and again.

E.L.P. - Tarkus (@ Allmusic.com)

Tarkus (Emerson/Lake) - 20:40
Jeremy Bender (Emerson/Lake) - 1:47
Bitches Crystal (Emerson/Lake) - 3:56
The Only Way [Hymn] (Emerson/Lake) - 3:47
Infinite Space [Conclusion] (Emerson/Palmer) - 3:20
A Time and a Place (Emerson/Lake/Palmer) - 2:58
Are You Ready Eddy? (Emerson/Lake/Palmer) - 2:12
II. 'Live Art' ('96) from Bela Fleck & The Flecktones blends four years of live work ('92-'96) into two hours of aural ecstasy. If you never get to see their blend of Jazz, Bluegrass, Rock, and Funk in concert, this one might just get you through. Loaded with improvisational gold, this album is one of the best representations of what the Flecktones can do on stage with a few spare notes.

Bela Fleck & The Flecktones - Live Art (@ Allmusic.com)

Intro - 0:39
New South Africa (Fleck) - 4:43
Stomping Grounds (Fleck/Wooten) - 5:26
Lochs of Dread (Douglas/Fleck) - 5:45
Big Foot (Fleck) - 7:32
Far East Medley (Chinzorig/Lkhagvasuren/Nogoo/Public Domain/Santiago/Traditional/Velez) - 7:21
Flying Saucer Dudes (Fleck) - 5:35
UFO Tofu (Fleck) - 3:38
Interlude-Libation, the Water Ritual (Future Man) - 3:06
Vix 9 (Wooten) - 6:02
The Message (Fleck/Future Man/Wooten/Wooten) - 9:16
Improv/Amazing Grace (Public Domain) - 6:46
Shubbee's Doobie (Bush/Fleck) - 4:40
Oh!
