OK everyone, here's a show of songs that 90% will never make it on the Moon. The intent here is solely to entertain and rock out.

As with most things, we need focus and a theme. The theme is a simple one this week. Every artist is from the U.S., in celebration of the 4th of July.

I'm not the Jingoistic sort, so I've stayed away from the overt patriotic references, but in a few cases I did add tunes with "America" in it's title, etc. Mostly they are tunes that have an edge.

I had a difficult time with this show. A lot of uploading, little time - and a lot to leave out. I'm still only 80% done. For instance, I'm listening to Matthew Sweet right now. A perfect artist for this show. But he didn't make it........

In a few cases I threw in a progger, just to keep me honest. Next week we'll be back to Nearfest, with a 2005 Nearfest show to hear in my absence.

Jimi Hendrix - Star-Spangled Banner

I didn't even think about playing this, but saw a comment by Lotus in the shoutbox. I imagine this is a good opener...the obvious is the sometimes the hardest to see.

Grand Funk Railroad - Rock & Roll Soul

A fine starter, just good old rock and roll.

All-American Boy - Crack The Sky

A song I've seen about 15-20 times live, just a lot of fucking fun!

Hot Tuna - Water Song

I recently picked up "Burgers", and this has always been a personal favorite.

BOC - Monsters

A bit jazzy, a bit heavy. A tune from their more obscure and experimental period.

Devo - Gut Feeling/Slap Your Mammy

The first two Devo releases are such fun.

King's X - Vegetable

Who says I can't enjoy later King's X? A funky one for ya.....

Aerosmith - Seasons of Wither

Back when they were something.

Chicago - Woman Don't Want To Love Me

Anything off of the first seven records is fair game.....another shining example of Bobby Lamm's songwriting genius.

Into Another - Running Into Walls

An obscure rocking band fom NYC. The album title (Ignaurus) is hilarious.

The Cars - You Can't Hold On Too Long

The second and last Cars tune (for a good while) to be played on the Scale.

My favorite Metallica tune. Surprisingly, this is actually the second time Metallica has made it here.

Molly Hatchet - Dreams I'll Never See

A remake of the great Allman Brothers tune (Dreams). A rare case where both original and remake are nice.

Alice Cooper - Devil's Food/Black Widow

With an appearance by Vincent Price....

Heart - Sing Child

The sexuality in this tune was a bit of a rush for a then 13-year old boy. Not that I knew what the hell that was!

Kiss - Love Her All I Can

Why not? I love Dressed To Kill. A fantastic song, with the usual pyrotechnics from the Ace, the king of the 30-second guitar lead.

B-52's - Strobe Light

Has the infamous line "I want to kiss your pineapple". By this time I WAS able to understand it!

OSI - OSI

A newer American bunch.

Richard Barone - Native Tongue

A poppist that took himself seriously. Some cool e-bow here.

I wish they would have kept making records like their debut. "Core" rocks. Oh well, another band not living up to potential (are you listening Eddie Van Halen!)

Kansas - Cold Grey Morning
