Very sad news and apparently a suicide. He was having pain due to nerves in his one hand and could only use 8 fingers apparently when playing. He became depressed and this is the result of that.

Last I heard, no official cause of death had been released. It is probably a suicide, based on the fact that his girlfriend "would not release the cause of death."
