Rickter Scale Show 151 - Recent purchases, Hillionaires Preview

airing Sunday 10/14 8-11 PM EST and Monday 10/15 1-4 EST

I'm still going through some purchases...after this and a week off I'll be hitting some traditional prog and some farvorite not so well known artists like Happy Rhodes... and a few full-show artist spotlights.

Lizard - cuts from "W Galerii Czasu" and "Noc Zywych Jaszczurow"

Lizard is an excellent Polish band - I've highlighted them before on the show with their "Tales From Artichoke Wood" CD, which features a violin. These do not however...

The first disc is a studio CD with live cuts at the end, and the second is live with some studio tracks. I think you'll recognize the live cuts!

Lizard playing Lizard songs -

Kazdy Dzien To Wiecej Ran W Twej Glowie
Galeria Iluzji
Autoportret
Strefa Cienia

(it's so good to type with z's and y's !)

Lizard playing non-Lizard songs -

21st Century Schizoid Man (6:04)
Moonchild (2:24)
In The Court of the Crimson King (4:42)
In The Dead Of Night (6:31)

Recorded in Poland in 1996-97.

Pat Dinizio - from his latest, a self-titled release -

Dear World
Don't Look Now

A couple of short ones from the mastermind of the Smithereens. I love his songwriting.

Kino - from "Picture"

Losers Day Parade
Swimming In Women

A Moonie favorite.

Deep Purple - from "Come Taste The Band"

Gettin' Tighter
This Time Around / Owed To "G"

A Tommy Bolin funk-rocker and a more proggy song...hopefully soon I'll get to that Purple show I've been meaning to do.

Jefferson Airplane -

Martha
Good Shepherd
We Can Be Together
Volunteers

Although I'm a too young for the time this came out, the "Worst of" collection was a high school favorite. I heard this so much that it took me 25 years to finally buy it! "Good Shepherd" is a Rickter Scale staple.

Styx - from "Caught In The Act"

Suite Madame Blue

From a somewhat forgettable live disc (2 actually), most of the songs are full of arena rock posturing, which does not translate well to audio. The version of this one however is outstanding. The best Styx song, features a note that Dennis DeYoung hold for about 30 seconds.

Salem Hill - "Catatonia" (1997)

I'm playing this disc to get ready for Hillionaire's Weekend II in Lebanon, TN. They will be playing Catatonia in it's entirety on the Friday evening show. On this CD, it's only Kevin, Carl, and Pat (no Mike)...

The Walking Dead
Real
Children Without Innocence
Facade & Charade
I Blinked (The Winking Dead, Peculiar People)
Habit Without Heart
Catatonia
I Turn My Back On You
The Judgement
Peculiar People
Awake (The Waking Dead)

See you in 2 weeks, ready for another 151!
