I like Echoes in general. We had a discussion on it some time back...for me it's just that takes so long to get started, and the middle's a bit long. that dinging piano bothers me...That's really it. It'd be a great 12 minute song. I especially like the King Buiscut (how do you spell that damn word) version..

There is a shorter version, where they cut out some of the middle stuff, on the recent "Echoes" greatest hits release.

a) I like how it takes it's time getting started. I with more bands knew how to "relax." I think I said once on AM before, but I'll say it again, I like bands that I can describe as "patient." They are not afraid to let an idea develop on its own speed without rushing it to "make something happen." See my fondness for Tarentel.

b) The middle bit? I see four distinct sections: The intro and verses, the Jam in A, the "seagulls," and the last verse/outro. If by middle you mean the seagulls thing, it's true that it may be a tad long, but the Jam in A is too short!

c) 'Tis not a dinging piano, but a sample of a submarine's sonar ping. Neh.

Don't get used to it. Happen to be in a library at the moment, but thanks for the sentiment.

I'm playing a Tarentel song on the show next week. It's a SUPERbowl show, so you should guess the song.
