I'm not asking this to create an issue, especially because I like the record, but I was curious about the inclusion on the Moon. I think it's similar to Budgie, maybe the Who, and host of other early 70's great rock and roll that may never (and to my mind probably shouldn't) make it on the Moon.

I got into this by hearing it on a Gnosis show.

To my way of thinking it's up there with a lot of other stuff on the Moon. One of those Tweeners.

I had this on my computer for months before I added it. It was a little too prog to dismiss out of hand, and not quite prog enough to just add. I finally decided it was prog enough and not famous enough to make the cut. Just barely.

The "just barely" meaning the progressive part, not the "do I like it" part.

I own and like the Captain Beyond (thanks to Fremder )....you must admit, bands like Budgie brings as much if not more "progressisity" to the table. Captain Beyond reminds me of UFO in the late 70's. Thinking man's hard rock.

And the "veterans committe" is a reference to baseball, where if a player misses the Hall of Fame in the first 15 yrs, a veterans committee can later vote him in. OOOOHHH an American reference misses Keithie! (I'm still 8 or 9 behind lol).

Captain Beyond rocks! I have only heard of Budgie, but I know nothing about them. I'll check into that!

There's Napoleon Bona-Part 1 and 2 on "Bandolier" but I'm not aware of a three. Must be a much later song. Very interesting - Budgie is very consistent and homogeneous. The Napoleon song I like better than almost all others but I can't fathom liking that song and not any others.

LOL sorry there rick if you looked at the time i posted you get a idea were i just came from i stand corrected Way to many pop's.I always liked CB there was also another band that was formed i think by the drummer of CB called Armageddon.My brother-in-Law has the album i'll ask em on sunday.

hey all-

sufficiently breathless was a mainstay of college progrock fm stations
in my area de the 70's. i bought the japanese import around '90 for
the then princely sum of 24.95.

fyi- capt. beyond was iron butterfly bassist lee dorman and (1st album)drummer mike pinera.
here's a bit o' trivia-
SB was sung by "hush" era deep purple vocalist rod evans.

CB folded after their mentor, fellow capricorn artist berry oakley
of the allman brothers died in a motorcycle accident.

switch off the prog filters. this is good stuff, although some tunes
have weathered better than others.

we didn't know (or care) that we were listening to "prog" at the time,
it was all britrock. i kinda miss that.

take a ride over to the thread on my show and you'll see one such song for this week. "Blind" from the third Purple record. Rod Evans can sing.

I have some less complicated music but mostly the good old 70's rock to play, hope you can join in ....

you had led zep, the who, deep purple, procol harem,
the moodys on the playlist!

it'd be very difficult to point to where progressive and these
bands diverged. led zep not progressive? they may not be prog...

we heard all this stuff on college radio in the 70's,
along w/ tunes like "time has come today" by the chambers brothers,
"the revolution will not be televised" by gil scott heron,
firesign theatre comedy, the nat lamp radio hour,
even early synth stuff like "snowflakes are dancing" by tomita.
freeform radio w/o the genre box.

seriously, you don't know what you missed.

"bloodrock" is the band name, "passage", the big album.
good rock band in their time.
