Please stop the over requesting!

Lately, one or two(or more)people have been requesting a certain artist on AM. I think most of us know who the artist is and some of us(though not myself)know who is doing the requesting. In my opinion this has gotten out of hand and needs to stop. I won't mention who the artist is because they don't need anymore publicity and if I did say then in a sense the person requesting gets what they want(ie more free exposure). Exposure is what AM is all about but I feel some people(or maybe one person)is taking advantage of this station and abusing the rq privilege.

2 tracks totalling 46 airplays in 6 months. One track or the other plays every other day. Please stop it.

Co-signing. It's NOT fair to the other artists, and YOU ARE CHEATING. How about them unethical apples? Aural Moon is a non-profit radio, but it doesn't come with a sticker on the forehead that reads "abuse me".

If it's a band member requesting, dude, you are not gonna see any of my money ANY.TIME.SOON.

I agree Meissa. This has had the opposite effect for me. It's good music but it makes me NOT want to buy it simply because of the abuse and possibly dishonest intention of trying to deliberately increase exposure. Regardless of who is doing it it has left a bad taste in my mouth and has backfired in trying to get me personally interested in ever purchasing their music(or at least anytime soon). I would love to hear any possible reasonable(or even unreasonable)explanation for this though.

I didn't know you could request artists on PE but, whether you can or not, that's something you should take up there.

Good proofreading Vax. I meant to say AM of course. I guess I post on there so much I forget that I do sometimes post on other sites. :P

What is being "over requested?"

Mario Cottarelli. "Corto Circuito" 30 airplays and "L'Orgoglio Di Arlecchino" 16 airplays since December 2011. Always anonymous rq's, usually at least a couple of times a week.

My 2 cents have been screaming to get out on this one.

Cent 1: If an artist wants to expend their RQ on one of their songs. So be it. If it's the same songs, whatever.

Cent 2: Is it any different than the same bands (there are 2 or 3 that come to mind) that during the day, get RQ'd ad nauseam?

Bonus Cent 3: The listeners that do that are guilty of the same thing.

That's all. You may continue to Prog On. :D :rockband:

A few tracks by the artist Gooze mentioned. I hope that's not a confession Gooze. ;) Look up the artist and you'll see there are way too many requests for the time span for this artist. It's quite obviously intentional. I think it might be the same guy who requested "Tuesday afternoon" every Tuesday.

I don't want to be made out to be the rq Nazi here. Others brought it to my attention and I just happened to be the first person to post about it. If I didn't, I think sooner or later someone else would.

I think others will agree with me that this is sort of an extreme and non typical situation. I think some of us just thought it was getting a bit out of hand and I thought why not say something.

I sympathize with 413, but also agree with Fish.

Anyway, annoying or not, unless controls are put in place, certain pieces are going to get requested "too many times." I have my example (hint - currently 31 requests, over 20 minutes long), but I take it as part of allowing, in part, the listeners to program the playlist.

I am curious, though, to know who the anonymous requester is! Fess up much?

Jim said to me once the IP is European, but the person is never in the boards or the shoutbox, so it's not someone we'd know by name. It's literally one of the anonymous listeners.

IIRC.
