Then post what you think. I'm really interested to find out your response.
How odd................Before I read your post I ordered "Skinny fists" and it's winging it's way here as I type. More power to you Spaz.

Needless to say the coasters thing was a feeble attempt at humour.

Sorry Rick I only have the one copy.

It DOES Bite!!!!!!!!

Excellent add to the playlist.

I have all their albums and think they are superb.

I know a Las Vegas Goddess who will be delighted at this addition too.

btw. I get the impression that Dr Dot is DJing at the moment as a lot of the new adds are playing as I type and catch up on old posts.

It's good to be back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If she has then that's two goddesses in one town. Greedy old Vegas!!!!!

I thought we agreed on a lot of things mossy. But you're right. Francis is an amazing person.

btw. Just ordered Man from amazon on your recommendation mossy. I'm sure it will be amazing. What about his other solo work? Is that worth investigating too?

It Bites.......

For me their second album is the best. Not to say that the others are any less worthy but if I had to pick one for the Moon it would be "Once around the World".

It is certainly their most progressive. With Steve Hillage co-producing a few of the tracks, it's clear that IB had prog in mind for this album. The album opens with the explosive, albeit rather poppy 'Midnight' and is followed up with 'Kiss like Judas'; the hit single from OATW. With the pop out of the way the band plough into 'Yellow Christian' the first of three conceptual songs on the album. 'YC' is awash with Tony Banks style keyboards, and some quirky Yes-ish vocals, not to mention a few odd time signatures for good prog measure. This is not to say that this album is a rip off of other artists. IB always had their own style and sound, even though their three studio albums were all very different. 'Old man and the angel' was the second single from this album. As a single it failed miserably, but thats hardly surprising as it's a great song!! The CD unlike the vinyl has the full 9 minute version of OMATA, which in my view is the one of the best tracks on the album. The epic is the title track. A thirteen minute collage of English prog eccentricity, woven together by excellent musicianship. It Bites were a sadly underated prog act in the 80's. Once described as 'Like Marillion with sex. A far more pallatable concept than sex WITH Marillion'.

Message for Progdirjim..........

Jim,

I had a little bit of luck and won a couple of quid on a bet.

I've arranged for the It Bites album "Once Around the World" and Khan's "Space Shanty" to wing their way to you. Not sure how long they'll take but they will get there eventually.

Other recommendations...

His first when he broke from It Bites, "Welcome to the Wild Country"

"One Night in Sauchiehall Street", mostly acoustic set with his friend Ashley Reakes.

"Hometown"

You can get all of those on his site www.francisdunnery.com

ps: "Man" is his most brilliant to date, imho.
No need to eat your hat mossy. I love it!!!!!! Some wonderful acoustic guitar sounds there. Beautiful songs and great lyrics.

Thank you for the recommendation.

Nathan Mahl - Heretik part III_The Sentence.

Excellent!!!!!!

The three Heretik albums are IMHO essential listening. Thank you Jim for getting the final one for us to pick from.

Those of you who have these albums, try playing them ALL one after the other. Sure, it will make for a long night in but you will LOVE the experience. Comfy chair, a bottle of "something" and (if you're lucky) a friend to share the experience with.

Hey now there's an idea for a one off on the Moon. A Nathan Mahl "Heretik Fest". I'd be up for that one!!!!!!!

How(e) about........

Tracks including guitarists called Steve???????????

Take your pick from Vai, Morse, Howe, Hillage, Hackett........maybe more.

Solo and band contributions. Might be a blast. Certainly be some damned fine music.

PS. There's no guitarist called Steve in Don Cab, GY!BE, Unwed Sailor, Mogwai, Turing Machine etc. is there? If there is forget I ever spoke.

Taking the link idea to the next level...

How difficult would it be for the new additions listed in the forum to be actual links to that section of the playlist? Click on the artist's name & go to their listings; click on the cd title, and go to the song listings for that cd. Seems like that would encourage listeners to request new additions.
