Karlheinz Stockhausen - Elektronisch Musik 1952-1960 (Some of the best electronic music ever, and classical to boot)

Very Kewl Hawkson.. glad to see someone here that likes Stockhausen!!!!!!!.. Do you know of Milton Babbitt? Erik Satie is incredible as well.. the impressionists were proggers ahead of their time!

Re: What CD's Are you Playing RIght Now? Top 5

My CD collection is boxed because I will be moving at some point. My music selection is limited to those disks that happened to be out and about at the time I packed. What I have in it now is Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon. The ones I can get to are Who's Next, Fragile, Emerson,Lake, and Powell, Enigma's MCMXC aD, and Nirvana's Nevermind.

All of these are "old favorites" and no one track sticks out.

The best part of being a moonie is finding the Quality recordings that thrill us Prog listeners. As We get a New disc, rediscover an old favorite, or get an old classic for the first time, I would love to here your opinion. My old Carousel disc player would hold 5 Cd's. Usually 3 were in for a month with rotation in the other slots. So in this vein:
What do you think of the new....Fill in the blank
What can't you stop playing?
What disc has held your interest for awhile?
Which Tracks knock you out?
And of course, What new CD's disappoint, good at first then forgotten later, and finally, what discs are just bad
So enter often! Tell us What you think updated for the years to come each time you get something new!!
New: Saga - Network - At last getting back to their best writing and sound.

Cannot Stop - Eloy - Floating - This has been one rediscovered for me and I just cannot put it away. It is always loaded in the car, home and on MP3.

Used to be big - All the Rabin era of Yes. I was a huge fan at the time of Trevor rabin era of Yes (culminating the best concert I had seen at the time in 'Union' Tour at Wembly). I have now grown up a bit! and fully appreciate the Steve Howe years.

Favourite Tracks - Eloy - Illuminations; UK - Rendezvous 6.02; Saga - Images

Disappointment - Eloy - Eloy - Their first album and what a dog! I spent years tracking this one down and when it finally got an airing I was so p...ed off. It has never been played again despite being a huge fan.

I too think House of Cards, Network, and the one in between (name escapes me) is back to form...however, I was less than pleased with Trust. Would love to see them at a festival. I've heard the Jim Gilmour is decent, but i've yet to make the plunge.

Speaking of listening, I'm now engrossed in the Andy Partridge 7-disc "Fuzzy Warbles" set. Just getting through Disc One.....quite fun!

This after the catchup of CD's over the last few months, and my introduction to the Porcupine Tree years between "Sky Moves Sideways" and "Deadwing".

Hi rick, I think it is trust that I was meaning!
The Jim Guilmour album Great Escape is excellent, I managed to pick up a copy cheap on ebay. Some real prog rock on offer. Any means of sending over a copy?
Have fun.

At least we both like Saga! When you get time, fish back in my Rickter scale thread to see the saga show i played. I'm guessing it's sometime in Spring 2006, if you can't find it let me know and at home later i will dig it out.

I'll buy the Gilmour soon - I just spent a lot on CD's, but I need to get the latest rare Blend and i'll add on until i get wish list. thanks for the offer though

Re: What CD's Are you Playing RIght Now? Top 5

Current 5 on my playlist ...

RPWL - World Through My Eyes
Philip Glass - Glassmusic
Adiemus - Songs of Sanctuary
Salem Hill - Mimi's Magic Moment
Blind Ego - Mirror

I guess the last one is cheating a bit as it's not out until 26th Jan, but I have several of the tracks already downloaded from Blind Ego's and Kalle Wallner's websites! Kalle is the lead guitarist of RPWL and this is his first solo band project. The line-up includes John Jowitt and Paul Wrightson, formerly of Arena. John Mitchel ex of It Bites, and Tommy Eberhardt ex drummer of Beat Freaks and Legazy (not that I have heard any of their music). Well worth checking out for and adding to the Aural Moon playlist!!!

Yeah, from what I've heard they're pretty exciting (a few songs on myspace). I'm done with buying CD's for a long while, so I'll wait for it here or elsewhere...

Visited a record shop today (I don't obtain new music very often):

- Gong: Expresso II
- Ozrix: Jurassic Shift
- A Weather Report collection

Also probably to be played today/this week: Juno Reactor's Labyrinth, an older purchase.
