ATOM HEART MOTHER Why? Because it's rife with all the excesses of progressive rock sensibilities: it's a long radio-unfriendly composition; replete with backing choir and orchestra; has great uplifting melodic parts as well as dark and dissonant parts; chock full of quirky and spacey interludes; lead motorbike and broken glass parts; just when you think it's concluding, it's not; fabulous production qualities (thanks to Mr. Parsons); recorded in Abbey Road Studios; and hated by all the critics! It's Pink Floyd at their most experimental stage, IMO.
