The Tangent in Essen on April 26th 2004

When we entered the place (www.zechecarl.de), Andy Tillison was passed by I had a chance to speak with him a couple of words. He told me that The Tangent has now a new line-up with Krister Johnson, Javier Salazar and Theo Travis, and they were playing these additional gigs in Germany and the Netherlands etc in order to find together better. He didn't expect too many people to attend the gig, as they already performed the similar set-up half a year ago (in fact we were only about 60 people listening). It was really a pleasure to speak to Andy. He promised me an excellent show, and this is what we got!

The setup was, as I said already, similar to the one I saw already (in fact the gig was under the theme of the last CD "The world we drive through"), but adding among other a Gong song and a new one of the CD they will record later this year.

It was a firework of genius musicianship, paired with a lot of fun performing, even in front of such a poor audience. All we were there enjoyed to a max the nearly 2 hours and 30 min gig. The new members of the band integrated very good. I did not miss Roin Stolt, as Krister did an excellent Job, as well as Javier and of course Theo Travis.

Again I was overwhelmed by the vituosity of Jonas Reingold: What a bass. But I do not want to point only one guy of The Tangent: Their quality as musician as well as the songs are extraordinary.

You that you are going to Rosfest you will remember this gig for a long, long time as one of the best gigs !!
