Rickter Scale Show 153 - Pat the Happy Japanese Pig

It's a weird title but an attention grabber.

Show airs Sunday November 4 from 8-11 PM EST and Monday November 5 from 1-4 PM EST.

Naikaku - Wheel of Fortune (2003)

1. Please! (6:03)
2. In Short, You've Just Changed "Point Of View", Don't You? It's Only A Superficial Part, Right? Modern? Or Post-Modern? We Don't Care. Go Home! Go Back To That Sea! (13:14)
3. Memory (6:04)
4. 629 Items In Trash Can And Using 380.1Mb. Want To Delete These Items? (4:26)
5. Crisis (13:30)
6. Tiny Ego (3:15)
7. Seven Minutes Squeezer (10:29)

This is the band that played Baja and Progday last year. Wild frenetic music with Origami! Gets a bit out of control in parts but mostly fun.

Pat Travers -

Material Eyes
Amgwanna Kick Booty
Dedication

Selections from Crash and Burn, Putting It Straight, and Black Pearl, with a progressive feel. He has a few.

Happy Rhodes - Find Me (2007)

One And Many
Little Brother
Find Me
She Won't Go
Here And Hereafter
Charlie
Can't Let Go
Queen
Treehouse
Chosen One
Fall

It's been quite a while between records for this incredibly talented artist. If you're not familiar with her, check out her web sites and any other thing you can find. Keep in mind that as you listen every voice is hers - she has incredible range. The title cut is stunning, and most of the lyrics are a bit disturbing or just dark. There's a million things I could say about her but I'll just say check out her covers of great songs, on her web sites, my space, and You Tube. Hansford Rowe plays bass on most of the songs and you'll get Trey Gunn and Bon Lozaga (who she collaborates often with) on one song.

Three - Wake Pig (2005)

1. Alien Angel
2. Monster
3. Dregs
4. Wake Pig
5. Bramfatura
6. Trust
7. Dogs of War
8. Soul to Sell
9. One Way Town
10. Queen
11. Circus Without Clowns
12. Where's Max

Yes, another song called "Queen"!

Unlike the recent "The End Is Begun", this record has a lot of acoustic moments. Songwriter, singer, and guitarist Joey Eppard is amazing. I've seen these guys four times in four states this year, one of the most exciting bands around.

Re: Rickter Scale Show 153 - the Happy voice

Thanks Rick

another great show...especially the "Happy" section. After following a couple of links about her, i'm looking forward to adding her to my library.

What I find very interesting about her voice is not only her range. But the
persona of the range the childlike (bush kiddy voice) and the sophisticated
alto and sultry deep lennox lows...now that's what's amazing about Happy's
voice. She's young and old, tragic and hopeful, innocent and sexy...sometimes all in the same tune!

Thanks for bringing her to my attention....
