Oct 5 & 6 - Transatlantic-er (a.k.a. Transatlantic Part 2)

This week we rejoin the show with three bands from different sides of the vast Atlantic expanse. Two from North America and one from the UK, but all focused on the album as a whole (or half an album as in the case of 2112).

I. 2112 (Rush) 1976

2112 (Lee/Lifeson/Peart) - 20:33
A Passage to Bangkok (Peart) - 3:34
The Twilight Zone (Peart) - 3:19
Lessons (Peart) - 3:52
Tears (Peart) - 3:34
Something for Nothing (Peart) - 3:57
II. Kid A (Radiohead) 2000

Everything in Its Right Place - 4:11
Kid A - 4:44
The National Anthem - 5:51
How to Disappear Completely - 5:56
Treefingers - 3:42
Optimistic (Radiohead) - 5:16
In Limbo - 3:31
Idioteque - 5:09
Morning Bell - 4:35
Motion Picture Soundtrack - 7:01
III. Bridge Across Forever (Transatlantic) 2001

Duel With the Devil (Transatlantic) - 26:43
Suite Charlotte Pike (Transatlantic) - 14:33
Bridge Across Forever (Morse/Prince) - 5:32
Stranger in Your Soul (Transatlantic) - 30:00
if you liked that . . .

Transatlantic is finally about to release the latest (and probably final) concert video with "Live In Europe". It's being released as 2 CDs and 2 DVDs or together in a combined set. The "Live In America" set from the first album tour is quite amazing as well.

Inconsequential corrections

The 2112 lyrics are Peart only.
Lessons is Lifeson.
Tears is Lee.

Oh, I see now - I clicked on the "2112" link in your post, and the "All Music Guide" came up - that's the source of the misinformation.

The statement of Caress of Steel "confusing many of its fans" is a perfect example of one my pet peeves, what I like to call "Record Reviewer Unresearched False Statements".

Yes, I should probably put a disclaimer on any allmusic links (and check more details against the albums). Mostly their reviews are ok, but the bad ones are overwhelmingly of the camp that derides Progressive Rock, instead of at least accepting it as valid music. If you want good reviews and real insight, check out the Gibraltar Encyclopedia of Progressive Rock. I've considered just linking from them in total before, but the album information isn't as full as what's on allmusic.
