Tangerine Dream?

Due to my schedule, I've been forced to be somewhat prolific. I have the next five shows planned and ready to go. On Rosfest weekend, I will not be anywhere near the Moon. I've discussed the following idea with Vax, and think it would be cool.

Since I am wholly unfamiliar with Tangerine Dream, I'm going to cede control of the show for a show all dedicatd to Tangerine Dream. Please list your favorites and I'll compile them for play that weekend.

There's going to be two other instances that I will not have a show this summer, so if this idea goes well I may do the same type of thing. Or, throw in a repeat.

Dream away!

I'm not too familiar with TD either, but as an individual piece I would suggest at least "Song Of The Whale" (preferably Part I) from Underwater Sunlight. Pretty stuff...

Do you want a 3 hour set list Rick including the files?- I have a large collection of TD (51) spanning from 1972 to 2003 - Their latest opus I've only just ordered after a long think as they have gone very commerical in their PR and music.

KW is quite right - Logos is good and I love Song of the Whale parts 1 & 2 from Underwater Sunlight.

If you want just a single suggestion then I'd go for Alchemy of the Heart from "Tyger"

Well Rick ypu've down songs with "Black" I presume you are doing the same with "White"?

Tell you what....take Keith and Methem's suggestions, get with Vaxman (who spawned the idea), and work up a set list. We'll figure out how much is on the Moon, etc and go from there.

I don't want to put too much work into it. After all, I will be AFK that weekend.

As for the "white" show....it's not on the horizon. I'd do colors first. Maybe over the summer, I'm fairly set with ideas for awhile. But as always, I'm willing to play what you have sent, they've made for some fun shows.

Force Majeure:Force Majeure (Studio)
Encore:Cherokee Lane (Live)
Exit:Remote Viewing (Studio)

Cyclone:Bent Cold Sidewalk (Vocals)
Exit:Kiew Mission (vocals)

and a few cuts from my Official Bootleg Archives (about 2 dozen CDs worth of great live dream). I'll check on them and let you know which and forward MP3s of the tracks.

Coordinate? I thought Rick wanted everyone's input.

I figure that the Official Boots are OK for airplay. They're sanctioned by TD and actually sold (even have UPCs).

Zeit?

Would any of the stuff on Zeit be worth including? For some reason, I like this monotonous "Origin of Supernatural Probabilities".

the dream is loved by mars

great show in the making rick...my vote is for Rubycon if you have to pick go for part 2. but the entire show will be an ambient/prog hit, esp with a touch of Zeit, and not to forget Pheadra (if you must pick do the title cut).

will be missing your voice overs but you'll be soakin up live musical vibes at Rosfest!

should be a great 3hrs...VAX, rogor have at it!

Definitely! I'm for that...

The problem is going to be how to cover such prolific output in a 3 hr time slot.

I suggested the two vocal tracks only to break up the otherwise purely instrumental catalogue. Also, some of the more "melodic" TD. The non-melodic stuff may appeal to the GY!BE and Don Cab fans.

Vax is quite right - difficult to put a decent show together in 3 hours spanning 25 years of music. Choices have to be made when many tracks are 20 mins long.

When my toothache has gone (The dentist rooted me out today due to inflammation probably caused by a knock from the dog) I'll send my suggestions of dead certs.

Yes, that's definitely true.

But anyway, I would still like to add one more suggestion to this discussion: "Moorland" (Antique Dreams).

Just food for thought.

VAXman's playlist for Rick's TD show

The Tangerine Dream Show
=================

OK moonies, here it is. Rick let me put together a playlist for his TD
show and I've selected the following based on suggestions and by
trying to play TD that is NOT on the moon at this time. Sorry KW,
if you want to hear Logos Live in it entirety, you'll have to request
it. This wasn't an easy task either... There is SOOOOOO much TD
to choose from (hell, 65 Albums in my collection alone not counting
the vinyl I have still to replace with CD).

1> 13:29 Fly And Collision Of Comas Sola Alpha Centauri

Representative of the early experimental TD years

2> 19:34 Origin Of Supernatural Probablilities Zeit

Another representative track. I wasn't going to include this but
I did so for Methem.

3> 13:09 Bent Cold Sidewalk Cyclone

Cyclone was the first album with vocals. Many of TD's fans were
not pleased with this album because of the vocals. I happen to
like it... you decide for yourself.

4> 18:21 Force Majeure Force Majeure

One of my favorite TDs from this period. A very majestic melodic
composition.

5> 03:43 Betrayal Sorcerer - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

TD has done many motion picture soundtracks. Thief
(with James Caan), Firestarter (with Drew Barrymore)
and Risky Business (with TomCruise) may be familiar to
some.

6> 06:15 Rim Of Schiaparelli Mars Polaris

A more recent composition of TD. I just had to pick something
from this album for all you space cadets.

7> 09:15 Kiew Mission Exit

I took a group of friends from college (and present Mrs. VAXman)
to the Beacon Theater for this concert to not see TD perform. It
was one of the last tours where TD played in complete darkness.

8> 20:13 Mojave Plan White Eagle

Just because I really happen to like this track. Hope you do too.
I have a longer live version but to permit other tracks, I had to
forego playing it and use this studio cut instead.

9> 03:02 Justice Of The Karma Law Inferno

This album was inspired by Dante Alighieri's La Divina
Commedia
(Dante's Inferno). It features orchestal backing
and a choir on most of the tracks. Not my favorite TD album but
to present a fair cross section of TD, I put the one track that I am
most fond of in this playlist -- It happens to be instrumental.

A> 12:23 Alchemy Of The Heart Tyger

RogorMortis's pick for a great track and I happen to agree with
him. How strange is that!?

B> 04:49 The Red Blood Connection Seven Letters From Tibet

A track from a very different TD album. Very serene tracks with
dramatic shift from the more rythmic compositions that precede
it. Don't fall asleep because the Live TD is on the horizon.

C> 17:07 Cherokee Lane [Live] Bootleg Box Set, Vol. 2, Set 2 "Washington '77" (Disc 1)

Cherokee Lane also appears on the album Encore a
live recording of a US Tour in 1977. I like this version off of the
Bootleg Box Set, a two set, 14 volume, band sanctioned set of
bootleg recordings.

D> 19:48 Intro - Drum Solo [Live] - Flashflood [Live] - 220 Volt [Big Volt Version - Live] Tournado Live

I've seen TD perform live on several occasions. This is a set of
songs from a concert 20 years after the previous track was
recorded/played. Something for you to experience in that TD
tends to start playing and plays through uninterrupted until they
decide the concert is over.

E> 08:17 Stratosfear '95 Valentine Wheels

The final track of the set and a great performance to boot.
Stratosfear is the title track from the 1976 album. TD
has revisited the Stratosfear theme over the years. I
think this is a great variation on that old theme to end the show.
