Ray Wilson Acoustic Trio in Mechernich, Germany
Ray is touring around in Germany with his brother Steve and Irvin Duguid on keyboards giving unplugged gigs.
We went to Schloss Wachendorf in Mechernich, a little castle of the 18th century, in wich in a room on the first floor this gig took place. The concert was limited to 150 people (and this room was packed, so you can imagine how small it was).
After nearly no delay Ray, Irvin and Steve came on stage (Steve handicapped, as he has a broken foot) and begun with some songs of Genesis, passing over to Rays own compositions, going back to Genesis, Gabriel and so on..
Some pieces are really not meant to be played acoustical only (without drums and bass) and something was missing there.
But all over all, Ray with his superb voice and Irvin with an excellent work on the keyboard, not forgetting Steve, who rounded the whole thing up, gave a remarkable gig, in which not only the audience had a lot of fun, but also the musicians.
After 2:30 h the last song, Ripples from Genesis, put an end to a great evening.
