Italien Prog..........

I've noticed over the last few days that there is a lot of Italien Prog music being played. This may be because Moonies have been inspired by the recent additions to the playlist of the Malibran albums donated by Teermin8r (thanks tee).

I was wondering what people's fave Italien bands were. My own faves are PFM (naturally) and Finisterre.

I saw PFM when they first came over to the UK just before the "Photos of Ghosts" album was released on ELP's Manticore label and was immediately hooked. The next time I went to Italy I hunted down the albums they had released in their home country and was really taken with the songs sung in Italian. They gave the music a totally different feel.

Finisterre I discovered via Aural Moon and their live album "Storybook" is well worth getting and/or investigating via the playlist.

Any other thoughts on this chaps/chapesses?

DFA

The first Italian band that caught my attention on AM is DFA. I have their live CD and it is sublime! Jazzy with a Yes-prog feel.

I must concur. The older Italian prog I do like esp PFM. 've seen DFA at Orion and Nearfest. The smoked at Orion. I only have Duty Free Area, which would make a fine addition to AM.

I'm with Zvinki on this one. I prefer DFA to PFM. In my ever so 'umble opinion, PFM tends to be too ... fusion-y for my personal tastes.

There's that word again...

Roger -Dot- Lee, Il papa ha tagliato i miei chiodi della punta. Or something.

Of course mr favorite Italian prog is Malibran, but because of Aural moon, I have also picked up PFM, Banco del Mutuo Soccorso, and Locanda Delle Fate. Always looking for more Italian prog. Those guys know how to do it. I figure the reason we don't have any regular Italian members is because they can here this music anytime. One can wish.
