Emerson, Lake, & Palmer reached their 'career high' after the release of Brain Salad Surgery ('73) and rightly so. Not only was the album immensely successful, but it also captures them at their height of their creativity in writing and adapting music to fit their style.

Il Volo came together out of several Italian bands, forming a tight sound akin to PFM. It's also very full sound, accounting for the dual keyboardists and guitarists on Il Volo ('74).

Gryphon's second album, Red Queen To Gryphon Three ('74), shows a side of progressive rock that's often closer to British folk music. The combination of strings, horns, and wind instruments gives it lighter, more natural sound than many other albums of the same period.

As a progressive group, Mr. Sirius presents a very interesting blend of sounds. Their album Barren Dream ('87) provides a strongly rooted classic prog sound while infusing it with pastoral melodies, jazz, and synth heavy rock."
