Interzone - 3/13/07 - World Fusion #1

Hello all,

This week's show will focus on music in the style of "world fusion", a mix of western music with the indigenous music of other cultures such as Far East, Middle East, Eastern European, and African. I'm not a big fan of the phrase "world fusion", but it's probably the simplest way to corral this music. This is the first in a series of shows that will take place at future dates.

Here's the playlist:

Joe Henderson/.Alice Coltrane -Fire-(The Elements)-1973-USA
Amarok-Labirintos de Piedra-(Quentadharken)-2004-Spain
Amarok-La Ultima Expedicion-(Quentadharken)-2004-Spain
Amarok-Hsieh-(Quentadharken)-2004-Spain
Brad Shepik and the Commuters-Zdravo-(The Loan)-1997-USA
Osibisa-The Dawn-(Osibisa)-1971-Various
Embryo-Hor, Speil, Vergieb-(Zack Gluck)-1984-Germany
Vermicelli Orchestra-Sakateka-(Byzantium)-1999-Russia
Brad Dutz-Making Ice-(Making Ice)-1998-USA
Hasidic New Wave-Ok Dear, Who?-(Kabalogy)-1999-USA
Hasidic New Wave-Guiliani Ber Alles-(Kabalogy)-1999-USA
Azigza-Shiva Calling-(Kriya)-2003-USA
Azigza-A Bulgarian Suite-(Kriya)-2003-USA
Azigza-Bembe: Ogun-(Kriya)-2003-USA
Ethnic Heritage Ensemble -Ancestral Song-(Continuum)-1998-USA
Between-Uroboros-(And The Waters Opened)-1973-Germany
Remember Shakti-Luki-(Saturday Night In Bombay)-2001-Various
Natraj-Ave De Se-(The Goat Also Gallops)-1991-USA

Featured Album: Oriental Wind--(Okay Temiz & Oriental Wind)-1977-Turkey/Various

Rabih Abou-Khalil-Dr. Gieler’s Prescription-(Odd Times)-1997-Lebanon

Enjoy!
- Cozy

awesome. I especially love the Middle Eastern stuff, though mostly I know it through Peter Gabriel.

you might check out Richard Bona, from Cameroon.
