Tangerine Dream in London

A gig worth mentioning for anyone interested.

11th June 2005 TD will be performing the Phaedra album for the first time.

To be honest I'm not sure how they'll do that but it will be a good night out anyway.

Anyone interested the Tickets are £25 each plus £3 booking fee. Most of the Shepherds Bush Empire is standing room only but there are a few unreserved seats available in the Circle.

Dream on!!!!

London GiG

For those who want to know more and about TD's gigs in future (Berlin July) why not visit the TD's forums under their offical site as plenty of info turns up.

As I have to pay a large sum of dosh back to the Inland Revenue here I can't go.

Great night out........

Pam, her brother Alan and I have just returned from the TD gig.

It was pretty astonishing!!!

The lights dimmed and Edgar Froese walked on stage alone and sat behind an Electric Piano and played for a few minutes. The music sounded familiar but I couldn't put my finger on the title. That was to be a recurring theme for the rest of the night.

When he finished the audience applauded but that turned into huge whoops of joy as a Black curtain parted to reveal a stage bathed in Blue light with two other musicians sitting with their backs to us. I'm sorry but I can't tell you what the Instruments were. All I can say is that I have never seen so many Keyboards on one stage in my life. There was also a huge percussion array up the back and I wondered what was to become of that.

The guys played Non stop for 3 hours and most of the music was familiar. I heard bits of Ricochet, Logos, Phaedra (naturally) to name but 3.

The percussionist appeared after about half an hour and was there for the rest of the gig. A very lovely looking Blond girl.

We also had a very attractive saxophonist play during some numbers and a very good guitarist. The guitar sound really filled in some of the numbers and I turned to Pam and said that "This is everything I love about prog". It was complicated, beautiful, all embracing music that lifted you up to another plane.

The time flew by and the band encored with another piece with Edgar F playing guitar. Beautiful.

I thought it was all over but suddenly the Guitar player started Riffing and we were into Tangerine Dream's version of Hendrix's Purple Haze. Remarkable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A great night out and one I will remember for a long time to come.
