Neal Morse

You gotta get his new double cd... I know, it's not officially out until 9/23, but from what I've heard so far, it's his best work yet!

We'll check it out. We found his previous solo work to be a bit more poppish than Spock's Beard, so we've limited how much of that we play. But the guy can obviously write AM worthy music, so we'll giv it a shot.

I like Neal Morse - don't get me wrong. But I've heard enough of him for now. Between all the SB output, three TA albums and his solo stuff - I need a Neal Morse break. He's a talented writer, but there's only so much you can do before it all starts sounding the same.

For what it's worth...

In the "Testimony interview" he appears to consider this release as truly progressive in comparison to his earlier solo efforts.

Agree with Avian

Maybe we should wait and see what it sounds like - I like the last couple Spock's, but he was getting stale with the song structure. I sure hope that the new SB and the new Morse are not two half-good records. There sure is precedent for that to occur. I guess we will see.

One

I mentioned the latest Neal Morse CD ("One") to Jim, but I figured it would be a good idea to post the happy little reminder here in the forums.

If you didn't like Testimony, give One a try - the writing style (while still sounding like Neal) is closer to that on the TransAtlantic albums. Wojtek played a tune and a half (or so) on the countdown (number 17? I forget) and while the full track got mixed reviews in the White Room(perhaps because it's the heaviest thing he's ever done), the other one (an folky instrumental section of one of the tunes) seemed to be pretty universally enjoyed.

Anyone else have thoughts on that?
