Server Full

I often try to listen and the server is full. I am computer illiterate. Does this mean that the bandwidth is full or what? How could it be corrected where more than 120 people can tune in?

There are 4 different audio streams for the station, all at different speeds that can hold different amounts of people:

56k - 100 available slots
24k - 10 available slots
128k - 50 available slots
WMA - ? available slots

So, when you see the number of listeners on the Now Playing window, that's a combination of all 4 streams. If you can't connect, then the stream you're trying to connect to is full (100/100 in the case of the 56k line). To get more available slots, more would have to be paid for (by the station) and allocated by the company that streams the station.

Just so everyone knows, anyone who donates to the station and gets the 128k link has a 100% chance of connecting, as I don't think we have over 50 subscribers.

Anything to add Avian or Jim?

that sums it up pretty well Tommy. It's not a technical issue, it's a cost issue

There are unlimited 128k slots - it's just set at 50 to set it at something.

There are 5 WMA streams.

Patrons never get shut out of the 128k stream.

I'd love to add more free streams, but I'm at (actually well beyond) my financial limit for this.

I'd love if someone had some bandwidth to donate!!

Struggling student...

I'm a struggling student who has no internet access at home :(
As soon as I can afford it, I'm getting a cable modem and the 128k. But, alas, everytime I get a dollar ahead, something happens. For instance, my roommate impromptly moved out in December, so now I've got all the rent...

One of these days...

Well, ideally, someone with a business with a solid internet connection, or anyone who has a colocated server of some kind, would be willing to run a shoutcast DNAS (takes up almost no CPU overhead, almost no memory) for us to create a new Aural Moon relay server on.

Avian, I just started with a new host & am a reseller with full config capabilities for multiple domains. Contact me at hosting@hawkfeather.com with details of what's needed & what would be involved, bandwidth/month, etc...
