Best wishes to all my American brothers and sisters on this 4th July.

I hope you all get to do what you want to do on this historical day.

It is merely historical now. Last week, we took yet another step away from Independence to In Dependence! There is nothing to celebrate today; more so, it is a morose day of remorse upon further enslavement of the people to the government machine by the shackles of over-burdensome and over-reaching taxation.

“The essence of all slavery consists in taking the product of another's labor by force." -- Leo Nikolaevich Tolstoy

“Slavery is now no where more patiently endured, than in countries once inhabited by the zealots of liberty.” -- Samuel Johnson

“Single acts of tyranny may be ascribed to the accidental opinion of a day; but a series of oppressions, begun at a distinguished period and pursued unalterably through every change of ministers, too plainly prove a deliberate, systematic plan of reducing a people to slavery.” -- Thomas Jefferson

Thanks, Keithie! Happy 4th to you!

Unfortunately, I'm a slave to my own home, so not much recreation for me today. But I'll tell ya what. I love my country.

I love it's people. And I mean I love all it's people. The decent ones, the dorks, the dufus', the ding-a-lings, the doubters, the dastardly, the do-gooders. I even love the haters, the naysayers, the procrastinators and cogitators; the optimistic, the pessimistic, the parasitic, and the holistic; muslim, christian, hindu, shintu and jew; atheist, agnostic, cultist and universalistic; the rich, the poor, their bitch and their whore; all race, all creed, all gender, all orientation, all color.

But do you know who I love the most? THE PROGGERS!
:rawk: WOOOOT! :rawk:

This is what our forefathers had dreamed for us. (okay, maybe not the progger part, but.....) This is the country where that dream will be possible. We are the people that can make it come true.

Are we there yet? Unfortunately no, but we're getting closer. Have we always been right in our path? Unfortunately no, but we have corrected some. Have we got a long way to go and hard choices ahead? Oh, you betcha, but we dare to dream.

Congratulations America.
(Que the marching band) Congratulations Americans. (Que the marching band) Contratulations for making it this far. (Come on, que the marching band) I am grateful for those before us, especially for those that sacrificed their lives and loved ones to protect this country and its people.

(I said cue the f**'n mar...
Huh? What? Oh, they're on their union break. Just great. Ya gotta love it.)

Happy 4th everyone. I raise a glass to you.
:salute

Amen brother! Let's hope that the people who Don't want the government to give them everything , who want to be able to keep the money that they work so hard to earn, that actually still believe in the American Dream, wake up and make their voices heard come November. If not, we may be on a slippery socialist path that we may never be able to climb up.

It is a tax...it's not a tax... COME ON PEOPLE. How many times do you need to be lied to and manipulated before you realize what is happening!

On a happier note, all of us here in the Colorado Springs area are very grateful to all the fire fighters and emergency responders who have worked tirelessly to do everything they could to protect our homes during this historic fire here. My home is safe, but I have friends who lost theirs among the 346 homes that burned. It could have been much worse, but the community is banding together to help those in need. THAT'S what American should really be about.

yea, manipulated.

"America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves." - Abraham Lincoln

have you been introduced to HR 347? look it up and believe what you want. I passed with 2 dissenting votes. The bill of rights has been violated by the morons we voted for. freedom to assemble has been reduced.

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

Not any more. That is exactly what they did.

Anywaaaaaaaayyyyy:

I had a great time sitting on the porch listening to the fireworks (mostly illegal in these parts) around the city. Sounded like a battle was going on.

My wishes were directed at all of you. I'm not interested in your politics in the same way that I hope you're not interested in mine. All I wanted to say was have a great day.

It's the same here.....some people never seem to be happy unless they're miserable ;)
