Interzone - 4/10/07 - Time Capsule X: 1997

Hello Moonies!

It's time again for The Time Capsule, going back and focusing on music all released in a particular year. This year, we're gonna take a look at the state of the underground music scene back in 1997. By 1997, the progressive rock 'revival' was in full swing, and it was a great time for fans looking for new music to sick their teeth into.

Here's the playlist:

Isildurs Bane-The Flight Onward (phases 1-5)-(Mind Volume 1)-1997-Sweden
Djam Karet-Forbidden By Rule-(The Devouring) -1997-USA
Djam Karet-Night of the Mexican Goatsucker-(The Devouring) -1997-USA
Volare-Blitz-(The Uncertainty Principle) -1997-USA
The Flower Kings-The Man Who Walked With Kings-(Stardust We Are)-1997-Sweden
The Flower Kings-Circus Brimstone-(Stardust We Are)-1997-Sweden
Grey Lady Down-Final Decree-(Fear)-1997-England
Parallel or 90 Degrees-Introduction/Dead On a Car Park Floor (Part 1)-(Afterlifecycle) -1997-England
Townscream-Fekete Hangulat-(Nagyvarosi Ikonok)-1997-Hungary
Banco del Mutuo Soccorso-R.I.P.-(Nudo)-1997-Italy
Fruitcake-Hell’s Kitchen-(One More Slice) -1997-Norway
Cast-Reality or Misanthropy?-(Angels and Demons)-1997-Mexico
Björn Olsson-Stjarnklar Natt-(Instrumental music... to submerge in... or disappear through) -1997-Sweden
Radio Massacre International-Organ Harvest (part one)-(Organ Harvest)-1997-England

Featured Album:

Devouring is in my top 5 CD's of all time....

and Crucible, great record, played well at first Nearfest...second one (Curtains) really good, then they fell off the face of the Earth...

Thanks everyone.

Yeah, I still dig that Crucible album and grew up with Kansas and Rush, and they will always hold a soft spot for me.
