Rick, you'll like this...(so will percusion fans)

If you have't seen this yet...his playing is breathtaking!

(press the play video link)

I need to write them and ask why they don't have John Weathers (drummer for Gentle Giant) among the greats!

LOL! I spent a lot of time there myself last night. Thank God I could sleep in today! Yeah, I saw the Beatles there, but had to scratch my head. Ringo? A drummer? Sorry to Ringo fans, but my own opinion is that he is just a time keeper.

Now, here are a few more that I found to be exceptionally great (warning- this will take up your spare time, but it will be worth it!):

And someone who did more with less... (see both vids, he plays with his bare hands on the 1961 clip):

I hate watching Buddy Rich or Gene Krupa play drums. As a drummer, it's depressing how much better than me they are. :-\

Phil Collins? Anyone who said he can't play is an idiot.

Jim, you and I might not agree on everything musical (that thing you have with Bob Dylan...I mean Damn).

This, however, is not one of them.

Although I've found that this type of statement easily marks someone who's got the musical tastes of a well trained blue plastic soap dish.

Roger -Dot- Lee, and I've found that if their tastes in music are that bad, their conversational abilities (and their intellect and personality as well) are usually at about the same level as their musical tastes.

Watching Jeff Berlin play bass is a similar experience for me. Makes me want to put my fingers into a vice!

I left out Bill Bruford because I have recent DVDs where I watch him closely, but Bruf is one of my favorites. Funny how it seems that the jazz drummers seem to be the hottest....of course, jazz, fusion and prog are very demanding anyway.

BTW, are you available for projects? :notsure:
