Just made it back from electing the new Pope......it was close, but I'm here. I got kicked out because I suggested he use the name "Joe Rat"....

Anyway, part 2 of the Rites of Spring Festival. This week we'll hear bands playing on April 29 - May 1 2005 (or as they do overseas, 29 April to 1 May...I just love that!)

Man On Fire - Awake

While I've heard songs by each band above, I picked tunes I've not heard before. So I will be listening intently as I hope you all are. Man On Fire had a table at Progday 98, but I've never seen them live. Looking very much forward to seeing all of the bands.

Kino - Telling Me To Tell You, Swimming In Women

A late replacement for Mostly Autumn. Magenta has moved to the headliner spot vacated by Mostly Autumn, and Kino has stepped in. I was ready for Mostly Autumn...had three tunes picked out for the show also, but will save them for a bit. Thanks to vax for selecting the Kino tunes...Swimming In Women was played on the Scale not too long ago (New Moon).

Sylvan - Lost, Given Used Forgotten

Just played all of Artificial Paradise so I'd thought I'd select some from X-Rayed. Given Used Forgotten is a tune I've played before, but it's such a great tune, we'll hear it again!

Saw these gentlemen the week before last year's Rosfest...and hoped they'd be here this year. There were only 50 of us at Orion last year, so most of the crowd will be seeing them for the first time (they're from Michigan). Ryan Parmenter (vocals and keys) is Matthew's nephew, and the apple does not fall very far from this tree! They opened with "Slackjaw" which confused and thrilled the crowd. A very atypical tune, to say the least. This band is a treat. I just wish they weren't the first band on Day One.
