This is been discussed at length here...

spaz, not suggesting ND for the moon as yes, this has been discussed previously. Simply giving a heads up on a release. Apologies to all if this is not deemed appropriate forum fodder.

No no no, sorry, that's not what I meant. I understand giving the shout-out about the album. I was just pointing out that the "prog/not-prog" discussion was touched on before, as a reference. Pretty much anything is forum fodder!

I'm with YOU mossy..........

I know we've had discussions about Nick Drake in the forum before but like all things it doesn't hurt to reiterrate your point of view.

I think that Nick Drake would be perfect for the Moon. Thoughtful, beautifully constructed tunes with a profound lyrical content.

The songs, like all decent Prog IMHO, move you greatly sometimes to the point of tears in my case.

When you know the story of Nick's life and get inside his mind it makes it even more poignant.

Go on Jim............go out on a limb and put Nick up on the playlist.

Hell's teeth! Give me the Nod and I'll donate the albums. It would be a pleasure.

But so is a lot of output by Neil Young, Bruce Springsteen, Mary Chapin Carpenter, and dozens of other singer-songwriters, especially the little-known Jan Krist. But that doesn't make it prog, or even a prog subgenre (IMNSHO). I have never seen "beautifully constructed tunes with a profound lyrical content" as a traditional earmark of prog. And remember, I have Pink Moon, so I'm not speaking out of ingnorance of having never heard the guy. He's not prog; he's folk. I vote "no" on Nick Drake.

These posts always read as more angry than I intend them to.

I own Pink Moon - and as of now, I'm not going to add it. I agree with Spaz on this one - it's not prog. It's good, really good, but so are a lot of things not on Aural Moon. I may change my mind at some point, but it's not looking like it now...

yes, Poda, I listen; I read; despite all that, I'd still like to see the unedited version of the new avatar. :D

I'm listening to my new Electric Orange disc - "Orange Commutation" - I believe you gave that a thumbs up awhile back - look for it on the moon soon...

(oh, and I don't know why there's two posts in a row from me - operator error I'm sure, though....)

I was really excited when I saw that Jim had posted again it this thread. I thought "Excellent! Jim's capitulated and decided to put Nick in the playlist"

But sadly not.

I visited Nick Drakes grave yesterday out in the Warwickshire countryside and left a small token of my appreciation. It was a great experience for me.
