Song Titles

Ten questions, not especially hard - you must guess the song title from the clue. The name of the band is either expressly stated or hinted at in the clue also.

One caveat - no multiple guesses - one shot, if you're wrong, you're shut out of the question!:(

1) Ian and the boys after drinking the Mexican water? Spaz with "Something's On The Move"
2) Playing the Fool's (Down & Out) leering advances at Gilmour and Waters' girlfriends? Bob, with "Young Lust"
3) Those are some lucky boulders you have there Mr. Gabriel!Jim - "Seven Stones"
4) Aww Fish take these diamonds back to the jeweler - they don't tell the truth! Jim, with "Emerald Lies"
5) A power trio from Canada, singing about another diminutive three-piece power trio from Canada? Bob, with "One Little Victory"
6) Benjamin Franklin flies a kite in Kansas? Spaz with "Lightning's Hand"
7) British jam band, after taking a few hits, makes a flap over a Christmas present? Bob with "A Gift of Wings"
8) Fore, Mr. Sinclair! It's a female! Keith, with "Golf Girl"
9) Four of the most tragic words Mr. Shulman could say to a listener of this station (except for "The Bar Is Closed")?
:D Jim, with "The Moon Is Down"
10) Somnambulent thoughts by Keithie about a four-legged version of Kate? yesspaz, with "And Dream of Sheep"

I'll take a page from Jam Forte's book and post the correct answers at the top of the post.

Have fun!

Bob L. - 3
Keith -1
Jim - 3
Yesspaz - 3

KeithieW 05-05-2004 02:49 PM

A shot on course.

8) Golf girl - Caravan

That was a taster........I've got 6 others too but as I'm going to be absent for ages I'll pass :D

Good questions Rick.

Rick and Roll 05-05-2004 02:56 PM

Geez Keith!

you must have been waiting to pounce!!!!

It is correct (an easy one I feared).

You had guesses for others?

progdirjim 05-05-2004 03:04 PM

4 is Marillion - Emerald Lies
and 9 is Gentle Giant - Mister class and quality (just kidding, real song is "The Moon Is Down")

Rick and Roll 05-05-2004 03:19 PM

too easy?

I was considering not giving up the band names, but I'm not fit enough to prolong it..

Good ones Jim! You are correct on both!

progdirjim 05-05-2004 03:21 PM

a couple are easy, but I'm not clear where you're going on a couple either. 3 is Genesis - Seven Stones...

right! Jim is wresting control!

KeithieW 05-05-2004 04:48 PM

OK as Jim's heading out I'll chip in another......

#5 - A power trio from Canada, singing about another diminutive three-piece power trio from Canada?

Rush - YYZ

The only reason I think this is that I seem to remember that YYZ are a Rush Tribute Band.

Rick and Roll 05-05-2004 04:56 PM

nein!

the clue is very descriptive.

No Rush for you!

Yesspaz 05-05-2004 07:35 PM

6. Kansas - The Lightning's Hand

Yesspaz 05-05-2004 07:38 PM

5. Rush - Beneath, Between, & Behind?

Yesspaz 05-05-2004 07:41 PM

1. Jethro Tull - Something's On the Move.:D

Yesspaz 05-05-2004 07:44 PM

10. Kate Bush - Hounds of Love

Rick and Roll 05-05-2004 08:37 PM

score two for the late shift!

I will summarize in the next post since the rules are a bit complicated:

Yesspaz gets two of the harder ones - excellent job on the Tull and Kansas, which are indeed correct! Nice going!!!

However, the Rush is incorrect - rendering you and Keith ineligible for that one:(

As for the Kate, although it is not correct, it is a good guess, I'll keep you in on that one....there's more to the clue...

10) Somnambulent thoughts by Keithie about a four-legged version of Kate?

Yesspaz and Keith are no longer eligible for #5.

Yesspaz 05-05-2004 08:43 PM

10. Kate Bush - And Dream of Sheep

Rick and Roll 05-05-2004 08:46 PM

For the tie!

at the same time I was posting the recap, in comes spaz, with the Kate answer!

Since you were on the same record and you picked a four-legged creature, I cut you some slack, and gave you a second guess.

Rick and Roll 05-05-2004 08:50 PM

2 5 and 7

are left (see first post).

Jim 3
Spaz 3
Keith 1

#2 I thought would be easy, #5 a bit, and #7 is tough.

Remember to take the clues literally, I have no real deception on this quiz this time:cool:

Bob Lentil 05-05-2004 10:01 PM

#5 is Rush - Xanadu

"to taste my bitter triumph"
