Attachment 1374 Jazz Rock / Fusion had its best moment in the 70s .. 80s and then faded away until a few years ago where it began to give strong signs of rebirth and is welcome ... a genre that has always fascinated me that has always involved with great skills ... Simon Philipps is certainly one of these who did not miss a beat in his solo career ... 6 albums all of an excellent level and with this Protocol V does not contradict ... 7 tracks that they should all be chosen as the best of the album and that is why I will choose one but it will not be my definitive choice and certainly an album that must not be missing for those who love the genre. JETHRO TULL
Attachment 1398 JETHRO TULL & IAN ANDERSON BIOGRAPHY Early in 1968, a group of young British musicians, born from the ashes of various failed regional bands gathered together in hunger, destitution and modest optimism in Luton, to the north of London. With a common love of Blues and an appreciation, between them, of various other music forms, they started to win over a small but enthusiastic audience in the various pubs and clubs of Southern England. The breakthrough came when they were offered the Thursday night residency at London’s famous Marquee Club in Wardour Street, Soho. The early Jethro Tull released their first Blues-oriented album, This Was, in the latter part of 1968 before moving on to more home-grown and eclectic efforts in 1969 with Stand Up and a flurry of single releases, including Living In The Past, in the UK market. Benefit, Aqualung, and Thick As A Brick followed and the band’s success grew internationally. Various band members came and went, but the charismatic front man and composer, flautist and singer Ian Anderson continued to lead the group through its various musical incarnations. Jethro Tull were, by the mid-seventies, one of the most successful live performing acts on the world stage, rivalling Zeppelin, Elton John and even the Rolling Stones. Surprising, really, for a group whose more sophisticated and evolved stylistic extravagance was far from the Pop and Rock norm of that era. With now some 30-odd albums to their credit and sales totalling more than 60 million, the apparently uncommercial Tull have continued to travel near and far to fans across the world. After fifty years at the bottom, at the top and various points in between, the Tull repertoire is still performed typically more than a hundred concerts each year by Ian Anderson on his continuing tours throughout the world. Ian remains at the centre of a group of sometimes changing but highly capable – indeed excellent – musicians. The line up for 2022 is: Ian Anderson: Flute, vocals & acoustic guitar Joe Parrish-James: Guitar & vocals Scott Hammond: Drums John O’Hara: Keyboards & vocals David Goodier: Bass guitar & vocals The band continue to delight audiences everywhere and present the ongoing legacy of Tull’s music with its rich variety and depth of expression wherever the fans, young and old, want to hear Rock, Folk, Jazz and Classical-inspired music for grown-ups. Ian Anderson, known throughout the world of rock music as the flute and voice behind the legendary Jethro Tull, celebrates his 53rd year as a recording and performing musician in 2022. Ian was born in 1947 in Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland. After attending primary school in Edinburgh, his family relocated to Blackpool in the north of England in 1959. Following a traditional Grammar school education, he moved on to Art college to study fine art before deciding on an attempt at a musical career. Tull formed in 1968 out of the amalgamation of the John Evan Band and McGregor’s Engine, two blues-based local UK groups. After a lengthy career, Jethro Tull has released 30 studio and live albums, selling more than 60 million copies since the band first performed at London’s famous Marquee Club in February 1968. After undertaking more than 3000 concerts in 40 countries throughout five decades, Tull has played typically 100-plus concerts each year to longstanding, as well as new fans worldwide. He continues to celebrate the catalogue of Jethro Tull along with the latest 2022 release, The Zealot Gene, with various dates in the USA and elsewhere in the world. Widely recognized as the man who introduced the flute to rock music, Ian Anderson remains the crowned exponent of the popular and rock genres of flute playing. So far, no pretender to the throne has stepped forward. Ian also plays ethnic flutes and whistles together with acoustic guitar and the mandolin family of instruments, providing the acoustic textures which has been an integral part of most of the Tull repertoire. Anderson has so far recorded seven diverse solo albums in his career: 1983’s “Walk Into Light”, the flute instrumental “Divinities” album for EMI’s Classical Music Division in 1995 which reached number one in the relevant Billboard chart, the acoustic collections of songs, “The Secret Language of Birds”, and “Rupi’s Dance”. In a more progressive rock context he recorded “Thick As A Brick 2” in 2012 and “Homo Erraticus” in 2014. Released in 2017, the classically inspired album “Jethro Tull – The String Quartets” with the Carducci Quartet reached number one in the Billboard Classical Charts. Anderson lives on a farm in the southwest of England where he has a recording studio and office. He has been married for 42 years to Shona who is also an active director of their music and other companies. They have two children – James and Gael – and three grandchildren. His hobbies include the growing of many varieties of hot chile peppers, the study and conservation of the 26 species of small wildcats of the world and the appreciation of mechanical watches, fountain pens and vintage cameras. He reluctantly admits to owning digital cameras and scanners for his work on the photographic promotional images related to Tull as well as his solo career. In 2006, he was awarded a Doctorate in Literature from Heriot Watt University in Edinburgh, the Ivor Award for International Achievement in Music and, in the New Years Honours List 2008, an MBE for services to music. In 2011, he received another Doctorate in Literature from Dundee University. Ian owns no fast car, never having taken a driving test, and has a wardrobe of singularly uninspiring and drab leisurewear. He still keeps a couple of off-road competition motorcycles, a few sporting guns and a saxophone which he promises never to play again. He declares a lifelong commitment to music as a profession, being far too young to hang up his hat or his flute, although the tights and codpiece have long since been consigned to some forgotten bottom drawer. TIME HORIZON
Attachment 1401 TIME HORIZON BIOGRAPHY from official website Time Horizon is based in Northern California and is musically influenced by several symphonic progressive rock bands such as Yes, Genesis, King Crimson, Emerson Lake and Palmer, Kansas, Toto, Pink Floyd, Styx, Saga, UK and Brand X. The band originated with the meeting of Ralph Otteson (keyboards/background vocals) and Bruce Gaetke (lead vocals/drums). After working together on a project for a few weeks the two decided to form a new band. With new members Dave Dickerson (lead/rhythm guitar) and Steve Gourley (bass guitar), they began writing original music. Along the journey, members have changed but the mission remains constant. Energized with members Allen White (bass guitar) and Dave Miller (lead/rhythm guitar/keyboards), Time Horizon is again pleased to announce additions of David Bradley Mau (front man/lead vocals/keyboards) and Michael Gregory (lead/rhythm guitar/background vocals). In 2011, Time Horizon released their debut CD “Living Water.” The CD melds together stylized lyrics of faith, as well as refined symphonic music and instrumentals, to bring together the positive inspired sound of Time Horizon. With standout tracks like “Life Fantastic,” the music of Time Horizon will appeal to a broad range of music lovers. Time Horizon’s second CD, released under Melodic Revolutions Records, titled “Transitions” was mixed by Billy Sherwood of the band Yes. The album is named Transitions because it is a transitional album conveying “from what was, into what can be.” The band’s desire was to use Transitions to make an impact on the world with a positive message of hope, peace and the revelation of what our purpose in this life is truly about. Now with the addition of our new members, the third CD “Power of Three” has been release as of 2.22.2022. This, being the third album put forth by Time Horizon, is an evolution of our message going forward. STEVE VAI
Attachment 1422 Biography Steve Vai From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Steven Siro Vai (/vaɪ/; born June 6, 1960) is an American guitarist, composer, singer, songwriter, and producer. A three-time Grammy Award winner and fifteen-time nominee,[1] Vai started his music career in 1978 at the age of eighteen as a transcriptionist for Frank Zappa,[2] and played in Zappa's band from 1980 to 1983.[1] He embarked on a solo career in 1983 and has released eight solo albums to date.[3] He has recorded and toured with Alcatrazz, David Lee Roth, and Whitesnake, as well as recording with artists such as Public Image Ltd, Mary J. Blige, Spinal Tap, and Alice Cooper. Additionally, Vai has toured with live-only acts G3, Zappa Plays Zappa, and the Experience Hendrix tour, as well as headlining international tours.[4] Vai has been described as a "highly individualistic player" and part of a generation of "heavy rock and metal virtuosi who came to the fore in the 1980s".[5] He released his first solo album Flex-Able in 1984, while his most successful release, Passion and Warfare (1990), was described as "the richest and best hard rock guitar-virtuoso album of the '80s".[6] He was voted the "10th Greatest Guitarist" by Guitar World magazine,[7] and has sold over 15 million records.[1][8] Steve has Italian origins: his grandparents were Lomellini, precisely from the Taccona farmhouse in the municipality of Dorno in the province of Pavia (on 22 July 2012 he was awarded honorary citizenship in the same municipality) and from there they emigrated to the United States of America. Vai is known for his guitar instrumental music, which he composes, performs and produces himself, but has also performed on recordings for several other rock / metal artists and bands. In 1979 he attended the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, where he got noticed by the legendary rock guitarist Frank Zappa, who hired him first in the role of transcriber of scores and later as performer of his most complex pieces, pieces that required great technical skills. Career Steve Vai in Malibu in 2017 In 1985 he replaced Yngwie Malmsteen as lead guitar in Graham Bonnet's Alcatrazz, with whom he recorded the album Disturbing the Peace. From 1986 to 1989 he played for David Lee Roth, recording the albums Eat 'Em and Smile (1986) and Skyscraper (1988). In 1989 and 1990 he replaced the injured Adrian Vandenberg in Whitesnake, one of the British rock legends, shortly before they began recording the album and the world tour for Slip of the Tongue. Vandenberg injured his wrist trying some exercises he found in a book. Steve Vai continues to play concerts regularly, both with his band and with his friend and former guitar teacher, like him Grammy Award winner, Joe Satriani, in the concert series called G3 which began in 1996. The music of Steve Vai is featured in several films. He himself appeared on the big screen in a 1986 film with Ralph Macchio titled Mississippi Adventure (Crossroads, by Walter Hill), in which he played Jack Butler, a demon-inspired guitarist. In the film's highlight, Vai engages in a guitar duel with Macchio. The part of the latter is voiced by Vai himself, while the "slide guitar" part is played by Ry Cooder as admitted by an interview with Steve Vai. The pseudo-classical-baroque composition in thirty-second (titled Eugene's Trick Bag) with which Macchio wins the competition was written by Vai, which was heavily based on Capriccio Op.1 # 5 by Niccolò Paganini, and has become one of the songs preferred by many apprentice guitarists. Vai won a Grammy Award in 1991. He also performed on the soundtrack of John Carpenter's Ghosts from Mars along with Anthrax and Buckethead. He was also called by the well-known drummer Gregg Bissonette, to compose and record some songs (such as Common Road). While Vai's contribution to other people's material has been limited by the rock or heavy-rock style of the bands he has played for, his music from time to time seems to evoke esotericism. Vai is an acclaimed music producer: he owns two recording studios, "The mother ship" and "The harmony hut", and his recordings combine his distinctive skill in new compositions with a considerable use of effects in the recording phase. Steve Vai owns Favored Nations, a recording and publishing company specializing in caring for new talent or high profile artists from around the world. Private life Vai has two children, Julian Angel and Fire, and is married to Pia Maiocco (former bassist of the hair metal band Vixen). Steve likes to keep bees, which regularly produce honey that Steve sells for charity every year through his website ("The Fire Garden Honey"). Instrumentation Steve Vai in Madrid in 2004 Vai has been an endorser for Ibanez since 1986: in 1987 his signature model, the Ibanez JEM, arrived on the market, while in 1990 the company created a 7-string guitar, the Universe, with the same characteristics as the JEM but without a handle. The Universe went out of production after only two years, only to be resumed in 1997. His favorite guitar, used several times live and in the studio since 1993, is a prototype of JEM7VWH which he called "EVO": this guitar was given to him to test what were then prototypes of DiMarzio Evolution pickups (hence EVO); he also owns a custom heart shaped guitar with three necks, the "Ultra Zone" visible on the cover of the album of the same name and a white three neck JEM. Style Considered a luminary of the guitar, he is particularly appreciated not only for his extraordinary technique but also for the expressiveness of his solos. His style is characterized by a great command of the legate and in the use of the tremolo lever, with which he is able to literally make his guitar "talk" and "laugh" (as in the intro of Yankee Rose of the album Eat 'Em and Smile with David Lee Roth). Zappa's musical world has definitely influenced Vai's guitar peculiarities and his conception of dissonances and their insertion within the scales, as well as the introduction of noises and voices into the pieces. Another of Steve's most used techniques is tapping, which he uses both in its most classic form (2-3 fingers) and in its more complex form (4-5 fingers), just think at the beginning of the song Building the Church . JOE SATRIANI
Attachment 1425 Biography JOE SATRIANI From Official Website Joe Satriani is the world’s most commercially successful solo guitar performer, with six gold and platinum discs to his credit (including one more gold award for the debut album by his band Chickenfoot), and sales in excess of 10 million copies. Satriani's 19th studio album, The Elephants of Mars, crackles with an exciting new energy, briskly traveling through stylistic roads that feel freshly updated, viewed through new eyes. Forced time away from the road due to the pandemic, allowed for time to deliver an album length journey that never dulls. Since September 18, 1970 (the day his idol Jimi Hendrix passed away), Satriani has dedicated himself to the artistry of the instrument. While still a teenager in his hometown of Westbury, New York, he taught guitar to another budding six-string hopeful, Steve Vai. A few years later, Satriani moved to San Francisco and played guitar in a popular new wave band, The Squares, and briefly joined The Greg Kihn Band before the release of "Not Of This Earth". Satriani’s reputation was already growing in guitar circles – along with Vai, some of his other students were Metallica’s Kirk Hammett and Testament’s Alex Skolnick – but in 1987, he broke through to the masses with his second studio full-length, "Surfing With The Alien", a massive seller (it hit No. 29 on the Billboard 200) that included the radio hits “Satch Boogie” and the title track. The success of that album caught the attention of Mick Jagger, who asked Satriani to be his lead guitarist on his first-ever solo tour, in 1988. As a live performer, Satriani has toured the world with each new release (his last concert tour for 2013’s "Unstoppable Momentum" saw the guitarist touch down in 32 countries). In 1993, he joined Deep Purple as a temporary replacement for Ritchie Blackmore during a Japanese tour. In 1996, Satriani founded the multi-guitarist traveling experience called G3, which has seen him share stages with Vai, Eric Johnson, Yngwie Malmsteen, Robert Fripp, among others. And starting in 2009, Satriani traversed the globe again as a member of Chickenfoot. The all-star band (which also includes singer Sammy Hagar, former Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith) has issued two albums, their debut and 2011’s follow-up, "Chickenfoot III". Satriani’s solo discography includes a host of classics, including 1989’s "Flying In A Blue Dream", "The Extremist" from 1992, "Is There Love In Space?" (2004) and 2010’s "Black Swans And Wormhole Wizards". His 15 Grammy nominations have been for songs such as “Always With Me, Always With You,” “The Crush Of Love,” and “Summer Song,” as well as full albums like "Surfing With The Alien", "The Extremist" and "Super Colossal". Satriani has appeared in motion pictures such as Christopher Guest’s 2006 release, "For Your Consideration", and the 2011 Brad Pitt starrer, "Moneyball". Through the years, he has designed and endorsed guitars, amplifiers and effects pedals for Ibanez, Marshall and Vox. His JS Series of guitars through Ibanez has been one of the company’s most popular and consistent sellers. THE JOHN IRVINE BAND
Attachment 1439 Biography JOHN IRVINE BAND From Official Website The John Irvine Band was formed in the summer of 2011, in Edinburgh. Contemporary classical composition no longer held my interest as it once did – it was time to return to the music I loved the most – jazz-rock. Much of my listening, over the course of my life, has been devoted the great fusion players of the past 40 years: Pat Metheny & Lyle Mays, Gary Burton, Allan Holdsworth, Bill Connors, Jan Garbarek, John Scofield, Weather Report etc. – and I wanted to reflect what I’d learned from them and, hopefully, add something new to the genre. So, in 2010 I began to write music for a guitar trio setting – the result became ‘Wait & See’ (2011). Two more albums followed in this jazz-rock vein ‘Next Stop’ (2013) and ‘Metaphysical Attractions’ (2018) until I decided to add a more progressive rock element to the music resulting in ‘The Machinery Of The Heavens’ (2020). All four albums have received overwhelming critical acclaim and plaudits from many magazines and websites. Several tracks have been played on internet and terra firma radio stations, such as: La Villa Strangiato, The Prog Rock Palace, Xymphonia, El Ritorno Del Gigante, Canvas Prog Hour, Friday Night Progressive and many more. I was delighted when ‘Metaphysical Attractions’ was awarded 3rd place in the Fusion category in the 2019 Friday Night Progressive ‘IndeProg’ Awards. Both ‘Wait & See’ and ‘Next Stop’ were recorded with the same band lineup: myself: Guitars, Keyboards, Alan Emslie: Drums, Percussion and Doug Kemp: Bass. ‘Metaphysical Attractions’ featured a new line-up: renowned Scottish drummer Rich Kass on Drums, Rob Ironside on Sax and Gwen Kelso on flute. GHOST OF THE MACHINE
Attachment 1447 Biography GHOST OF THE MACHINE From Official Website A NEW MELODIC PROGRESSIVE ROCK BAND FROM YORKSHIRE, ENGLAND Ghost Of The Machine formed in January 2021 when five former members of This Winter Machine — Graham Garbett (guitars), Mark Hagan (keyboards and piano), Stuart McAuley (bass, Moog pedals and Mellotron), Andy Milner (drums) and Scott Owens (guitars) — joined forces with Charlie Bramald (flautist for Nova Cascade, and former lead vocalist for all-eras prog tribute Harmony of Spheres). Taking the best elements from their previous endeavours and key influences such as Rush, Marillion and Genesis, while pushing forward in a heavier, adventurous and exciting direction, Ghost Of The Machine spent its first year writing and recording its debut album Scissorgames. With the album complete, Ghost of the Machine is now gearing up for the release and accompanying performances, ready to bring its powerful six-piece sound and thrilling, theatrical live show to a stage near you in 2022. There's no doubting the pedigree of Ghost Of The Machine; its respective members achieved critical acclaim with their contributions to The Man Who Never Was (2017) and A Tower Of Clocks (2019) under the This Winter Machine banner, and Nova Cascade's releases such as A Dictionary Of Obscure Sorrows (2019) and Back From The Brink (2021) were warmly received by the progressive music community. The band is confident that Scissorgames will similarly find favour with fans both old and new. Collectively, the band members' live résumés are impeccable, having supported the likes of Marillion and Magnum over their music careers, and appearing at the major prog festivals and headlining popular venues while with This Winter Machine. A curious footnote to add is that the exact Ghost Of The Machine line-up appeared as This Winter Machine at The Slade Rooms, Wolverhampton on 7 December 2019, with Bramald stepping in on vocals for one night only, sharing duties with Claire Owens. The success of this show paved the way for Bramald's invitation to join Ghost Of The Machine just over a year later. Ghost Of The Machine made their live debut at the Corporation, Sheffield on 12 May 2022, supporting the incredible IT. On 16 May 2022, the debut single Mountain was released, ahead of Scissorgames which launched on 3 June 2022. BEN CRAVEN
Attachment 1455 Ben Craven ... you can say all the best about him ... self-taught begins trying to participate in bands that do not appreciate his compositions and after several attempts he fortunately decides to abandon them to their fate since they did not have understood the luck that had happened to him ... in Italy they say .... better alone than badly accompanied .... and today he composes, produces and plays all the instruments and the result is an excellent symphonic progressive rock and in addition to label with which he is defined "grandson of Rick Wakeman and Keith Emerson" but I also add some techniques to use the keyboards of Dave Kerzner in short, a truly top music and the track I have chosen will participate in the choice of the best track of the 2022 ..... the album cover entrusted to Roger Dean who contributed to give an extra touch to the successes of Yes and I hope that the same will happen for the next albums for this excellent musician. .... from the MONSTERS FROM THE ID album .... the track I chose is Die Before You Wake ABOUT BEN CRAVEN From Official Website Ben Craven is a cinematic progressive-rock artist from Brisbane, Australia. He likes to make records. Immersed as a toddler in the era of big prog rock, Craven taught himself guitar and keyboards and joined a series of bands. None of them made it and none of them remotely played the kind of music that had been burned into his mainframe as a kid. Nonetheless, the songs he wrote accumulated steadily. In 2005, Craven dispensed entirely with the band approach and recorded his debut album, Two False Idols under the name of Tunisia. The result was a work of incredible maturity, with influences ranging from Pink Floyd and Brian Wilson to the likes of Bernard Herrmann and John Barry. As Craven worked the album it became painfully obvious that the music business was in the midst of a sea change, and most of the old guard didn’t seem to realise they were the cause. Very quickly he took an anti-DRM stance and released the live acoustic EP Under Deconstruction as a high-quality free download. Craven stepped up a gear for his sophomore album, Great & Terrible Potions. Delivering on the cinematic promise of Two False Idols, Potions went widescreen as Craven blurred the boundaries between conventional songs and orchestral soundtracks. Augmented by a stunning cover designed by legendary artist Roger Dean (Yes, Uriah Heep, Asia), Potions was dense, complicated and unashamedly pretentious – everything a good prog rock album should be! Or, to put it another way, Craven sounded exactly like someone revelling in the creative freedom that came only from not worrying about what others wanted, and delivering what he felt instead. His 2016 album, Last Chance To Hear, was a stunning triumphant musical masterpiece of progressive rock. The grandness of the album suggested it was performed by a five or six-piece band. Craven explained, “In keeping with the idea of the album as an endangered species, the new album’s title is Last Chance To Hear. It’s another solo album in the true sense of the word where I play just about everything, like on Potions. The difference this time is a much greater portion has turned out to be instrumental. Not that I dislike vocals, but sometimes the music can be strong and emotional and moving enough to stand on its own without them.” There was also a special appearance on the album by legendary Star Trek actor William Shatner, providing spoken-word vocals for the track Spy In The Sky Part 3! Craven achieved a great accolade in 2016, winning the MusicOz Australian Independent Music Award for Best Instrumental, for the track Critical Mass Part 2. Monsters From The Id is the logical realisation of Craven’s musical trajectory thus far. It’s an album of two halves, each containing a traditional progressive rock “epic” the length of a side of vinyl. The two pieces comprise flowing parts and movements with both rock and Hans Zimmer-esque orchestral arrangements, punctuated by Ben’s distinctive lead guitar and vocals. Yet the album is predominantly instrumental. “Lyrics are incredibly important to me,” explains Craven, “but this music was not driven by words or language. It’s pure other-worldly escapism. It’s playing dress-up, wanting to make the world look much bigger than it seems right now, trying to recall the feeling that anything is possible, no matter how unlikely that might be.” Visually, the album cover is a treat, featuring breathtaking artwork by Freyja Dean adorning the triple gatefold CD/DVD wallet. Sonically, things are equally ambitious. A 5.1 surround mix is included on the DVD, while both stereo and surround versions are available for digital download in 24-bit 96kHz high resolution. Here’s what the press raved about Ben Craven’s previous release: “Heavy-duty prog rock monster” – Anil Prasad, Innerviews “Cracking virtuoso performance by an absurdly talented individual” – Classic Rock Society “Craven’s one-man-band production is a prog opus for the 21st century” – Musoscribe “All the drama, thunder, strum and drang you could want the spiritual grand child of Rick Wakeman and Keith Emerson to bring” – Midwest Record “Craven’s tremendous ability to combine memorable hooks with complex progressive rock and cinematic orchestral music is astounding” – Sea Of Tranquility “Press play and this album does the rest” – Muzikreviews “Seriously well-distilled and blended” – Van Dyke Parks In closing Ben has this to impart to his fans and listeners, “The music business is becoming an increasingly cynical place. The landscape is dominated by reissues, remixes and repacking of old material in what feels like a ‘last hurrah’. But there are still true believers out there flying under the radar and producing music primarily out of love and obsession. Not because of contractual obligations, deadlines or other market forces. I’d still be making music if the industry was truly dead and buried. But I’d much rather people listened to it!” Attachment 1458 Hi friends 2022 Work in Progress..ive These are my best tracks of 2022 Track Title-Group or Artist-Album The Chosen Ones-LALU-Paint the Sky Land of Green (part 1)-KARFAGEN-Land of Green and Gold Jagannath-SIMON PHILLIPS-Protocol V Alda-BREIDABLIK-Alduorka Mrs Tibbets-JETHRO TULL-The Zealot Gene Living For A Better Day-TIME HORIZON-Power Of Three A Needle Tree-KARCIUS-Grey White Silver Yellow and Gold No Still Moment-LIGHTHOUSE SPARROWS-Aerials Little Pretty-STEVE VAI-Inviolate The Elephants of Mars-JOE SATRIANI-The Elephants of Mars Wilderness Excursion-KAIPA-Urskog Changing Worlds-THE JOHN IRVINE BAND-Psychopomp In 256 Zeichen-TANGERINE DREAM-Raum Scissors-GHOST OF THE MACHINE-Scissorgames Die Before You Wake-BEN CRAVEN-Monsters from the id Attachment 1456 Attachment 1457 Die Before You Wake-BEN CRAVEN https://bencraven.bandcamp.com/track...efore-you-wake Wicked Delights (Single Edit) -BEN CRAVEN https://bencraven.bandcamp.com/track...ts-single-edit GOOD LISTENING |

THE TANGENT
Attachment 1466 ABOUT THE TANGENT From Official Website The Tangent are Insideout/SONY recording artists based in Europe, with most current members living in the UK. They have released 12 studio albums, 3 live albums, 2 DVDs since their formation in 2002/3. They have a history of members that has stabilised somewhat since 2014 and the band has now been for some time: Andy Tillison - Keyboards/Vocals/Musical Director/Composer & Lyricist (Joined 2002) Jonas Reingold - Bass Guitar (Joined 2002) Theo Travis - Saxophones & Flute (Joined 2004) Luke Machin - Guitars (Joined 2009) Steve Roberts - Drums (Joined 2017) The Tangent are a new era Progressive Rock outfit whose influences range from the obvious Yes/Van Der Graaf sources, through into Jazz Fusion, Canterbury, Funk, Soul and frequently electronic dance grooves. Like many other Prog bands their songs can be long, involved, instrumentally complex etc, but they are highly melodic, can rock with the best of them and are never afraid to try new additions to the boiling fusion pot. They have lyrics firmly centred on life in the world in the current epoch, no sword/sorcery or high fantasy in the music, though such materials often appear on their artwork. The lyrical content takes in huge amounts of subject matter, with over 40 completely different topics dealt with in their career, ranging from aging hell's angels through to Brexit via American movie lore and refugee crises. Unlike many bands they have not abandoned the use of humour, characterisations and the songs are almost cinematic in their storytelling and narrative. While members of the Tangent past and present currently also work in King Crimson, The Steve Hackett Band, Francis Dunnery's It Bites, Soft Machine (and more) playing classic music with classic bands, The Tangent is a place where they all come together to make music of their own. The band is led by idiosyncratic Andy Tillison who cut his musical teeth in Northern English post punk bands in the late 70s, becoming a noted sound engineer on the growing Death/Hardcore metal/Punk scene of the 1980s. He lists Crass and Chumbawamba among his influences - but adds Joni Mitchell, Squarepusher and Stravinsky to the rather long list of his favourite artists. "Prog Music was my first love, but it will not be my last" he said mischievously paraphrasing John Miles in a recent interview. In 2018 The Tangent released a 17 minute multisectioned prog epic made entirely of electro dance music that worked every bit as well as traditional instrumentation. Their 2016 political anthem "A Few Steps down the wrong road" featured speed punk butted up to musical quotes from Gustav Holst. They've flrted with Hip Hop, Dubstep, Djent, Bebop smf 70s disco. They've released 4 movemeΩnt electric sinfonias and 3 minute pop songs, played headline in some of the worlds leading Prog festivals and frightened locals in small pubs. They've never pushed themselves down a pre-ordained career path, eschewing success for total artistic control and freedom. But thy have pushed the music beyond its normal envelope. They are The Tangent. There isn't another band quite like it. Retro Prog? Certainly. But there's more. RYO OKUMOTO
Attachment 1468 ABOUT RYO OKUMOTO From Official Website RYO OKUMOTO was born in Osaka, Japan. He began playing classical piano at the age of three and continued through 13. He became a professional musician at the age of 15 performing at the Live House in Osaka for a year. Because of his great desire to learn more about different styles of music and his strong independence, he moved to Tokyo at the age of 16. Ryo performed in nightclubs and discos for the next five years. Ryo’s first real break started in 1978 when he was 19. He toured with a well-known group called “Creation” and recorded on their album “Best of Creation.” The next year Ryo toured with the legendary Kitaro and recorded on their album, “Live in Parco.” In February of 1980, Ryo’s first solo album, “Solid Gold” was released with Canyon Records. He recorded this album at Air Studio in London with well-known musicians: Richard Baily (drummer for Jeff Beck), Kuma Takeda (bass), Katsutoshi Morizono (guitar) and Delandro Winston (guitarist for Elton John). Two months later in April, Ryo released his second solo album, “Makin’ Rock” with Canyon Records. This album was recorded at Sound Labs Studios in Hollywood. He once again had the best musicians recording behind him: David Foster (keyboards), Jay Graydon (guitar), Steve Lukather (guitar), Jeff Porcaro (drums) and Neil Stubenhaus (bass). Ryo’s third album was released in June that same year with Canyon Records. This was called “Synthesizer” and recorded at Sound Design Studio in Tokyo. The following year, Ryo decided to make the big move to the States and relocated to Los Angeles in March. Tokyo seemed to have become stagnate to him and he yearned to learn more about the different styles of music that L.A. had to offer. Ryo studied at Dick Grove School of Music for the next four years. Upon graduation, his unique style and technique were welcomed by the American music scene and he has been involved in numerous projects worldwide ever since. Some of the artists he has performed with include Phil Collins, Eric Clapton, Aretha Franklin, Barry White, Eric Burdon, Peabo Bryson, and Roberta Flack. Ryo also has been part of countless world tours. It was 1994 when Ryo became part of Progressive Rock group SPOCK’S BEARD. The band quickly hit the top of the prog scene with many successful European and US tours. Their fourteenth studio album “Noise Floor” was released in 2018. Ryo’s skills are internationally recognized now and he is reaching audiences all over the world. He has been featured in many magazines worldwide - Dutch Rock magazine “iOPages,” for example. Spock’s Beard released their most recent album, “Noise Floor”, and have been performing for the past 28 years. Meanwhile, Ryo has been performing with ASIA, Lou Gramm and many more! He has most recently joined the prog supergroup ProgJect, featuring Jonathan Mover, Michael Sadler, Mike Keneally and Matt Dorsey. They started touring in April of 2022. Ryo’s creativity has no limitations and his undying passion for music will always keep him visible, whether it be rock, jazz, R&B or a broadway production. He will always be in the public’s eye. PROPORTIONS
Attachment 1473 "THE ODD LAND OF NOD" FOURTH ALBUM OF PROPORTIONS A Mix of Progressive Rock Jazz Fusion CERTAINLY IN MY JUDGMENT THEIR BEST ALBUM ABOUT PROPORTIONS From ProgArchives.com PROPORTIONS is a multi-national Eclectic Prog band that was founded in 2018 by it's four core members: Lennart STAHLE from Sweden (guitars, flute, keyboards), Tomas STARK also from Sweden (keyboards, guitars), Denis BOUCHER from Canada (drums, percussion), and Andy KUBICKI from the U.S. (bass, keyboards, orchestration). The quartet works over the internet, each one sending the other members rough demos and allowing each one to add their own input musically, then bringing it all together and fine tuning everything to create some excellent, dynamic, mostly instrumental tracks. In 2018, they released their first collaboration called "Reboot" and then in 2019, released their sophomore albums "Visions From a Distant Past". Their music melds jazz fusion with many different styles of progressive rock from prog folk to symphonic to experimental, dabbling all the while with some quirky time signatures throughout each track. The quartet often works with several guests to create their music before finalizing everything for each album. Their music reflects several influences and would be recommended to fans of Mike OLDFIELD, THE MAHAVISHNU ORCHESTRA, GENTLE GIANT, Ian ANDERSON, PINK FLOYD, ALAN PARSONS PROJECT and Larry FAST. COSMOGRAF
Attachment 1484 ...."from Heroic Materials" I Chose "HEROIC MATERIALS" ABOUT COSMOGRAF ....from the COSMOGRAF official website Cosmograf was born in 2008 when Robin produced his first home demo album, ‘Freed from the Anguish’ followed by the release of ‘End of Ecclesia’ in 2009. The next release ‘When Age Has Done Its Duty’ showed a huge uplift both in writing and production quality and captured the attention of the progressive rock community, and the press alike, leading to a Limelight nomination in the PROG magazine awards. The Cosmograf sound is rooted in 70’s classic rock with many contemporary influences from rock, progressive rock and metal. There is always a particular emphasis on concepts and atmospheric production leading to comparisons with artists such as Pink Floyd, Porcupine Tree, and Steven Wilson. Since then some 7 albums have been produced to date, with much critical acclaim and press attention. See the full discography here. In June 2014 the band performed their only live appearance to date playing at the Celebr8.3 progressive rock festival at Islington Assembly Hall. The line up consisted of Robin Armstrong- Vocals/Guitar/ Keyboards, Luke Machine – Guitar, Lee Abraham- Guitar/ Backing Vocal, Steve Dunn – Bass, Kyle Fenton – Drums. About Robin Robin was born in Grays, Essex but brought up in Waterlooville, Hampshire, England where he still lives today. His first foray into music began after being gifted an Italian made Antonelli organ when he was 12 and later a Raimundo classical guitar at aged 15, which he still has. As a teenager, Robin was captivated by Deep Purple’s fusion of heavy rock with Baroque intros and lead lines, and the duelling riffs between Jon Lord and Ritchie Blackmore. He never really stuck with one instrument and couldn’t get on at all with learning to read music, so learned to play guitar and keyboards, and later bass, by ear. His first band ‘Legend’ was formed at school where he played keys, followed by ‘Blue Steal’ and later a 3 piece progressive rock group ‘Cry of Love’ where he sung and played bass, performing gigs at a few local venues. Music fell mostly by the wayside after pursuing a career in the Water Industry but the interest soon returned when a creative outlet was desperately needed. He experimented with electronic music in the 90s, producing a few demo albums with the moniker ‘Toxic Czar’ then later returned to guitar playing, being very much influenced by the great players of classic rock, heavy rock, and metal. Having also taught himself to play drums to a very basic standard along the way, he became more interested in studio production and duly embarked on a mission to record and produce his own album, which became the birth of ‘Cosmograf’. A long and rewarding journey ensued, producing 7 albums spanning a 10 year period. Robin built his own recording studio ‘The Trees’, at the bottom of his garden in 2010 and is at his happiest there writing, recording and producing music. As well as working on Cosmograf, Robin was a touring member of the progressive rock band Big Big Train during 2019 and 2020, playing keyboard and guitar. He has made numerous contributions , both as a guest and producer to other artist’s music in the genre. DJAM KARET
Attachment 1494 ABOUT DJAM KARET ....from the DJAM KARET official website Djam Karet was founded in 1984, and continue making new music even to this day, 38 years later! So far ... they have released 19 full-length albums, not including their forthcoming 2022 release "Island In The Red Night Sky" (as well as an additional 31 minor releases and EPs and compilations, see the discography). The California-based instrumental group has often been called America's greatest undiscovered band. Compared by the press with King Crimson, Pink Floyd, The Grateful Dead, Ozric Tentacles and Porcupine Tree, they are credited with breathing new life into progressive rock, leading the way to the genre's future growth. Impressively, such high praise comes from widely divergent sources; Djam Karet has been written up in mainstream music publications such as BILLBOARD and ROLLING STONE, and in prestigious musician-oriented publications such as ELECTRONIC MUSICIAN, KEYBOARD, CD REVIEW, and GUITAR PLAYER, and also in numerous magazines, fanzines and webzines published for the indie/non-commercial rock communities. They have also scored numerous TV shows on ESPN, ABC-TV and other networks, as well as many small film projects and commercials. RELIX Magazine recently noted that Djam Karet, "has always been the ultimate jamband...just a little ahead of its time." EXPOSE' asserted that Djam Karet was "...arguably the most important band of the last decade, and certainly the most unique" and placed the band "at the forefront of their instrumental genre". Put simply by NEW AGE VOICE: "Djam Karet is no ordinary band. They gobble up myriad influences...including New Age, fusion, hard rock, electronic music, world, blues, even surf music...and metamorphose them into fascinating musical hybrids. They have never made the same album twice." With the release of their newest release, Sonic Celluloid, Djam Karet makes their strongest statement yet, and shows the world their uncompromising drive and vision. Djam Karet was founded in 1984 by guitarists Gayle Ellett and Mike Henderson, bassist Henry J. Osborne, and drummer Chuck Oken, Jr. They chose as the band's name an Indonesian word (pronounced 'jam care-RAY) that translates loosely as "elastic time". Early Djam Karet was a proto-"jam band" whose live, totally improvised performances on the southern California/LA area college circuit featured a free-form mixture of guitar-dominated instrumental rock and textural Eastern drone music, as on their 1985 release No Commercial Potential. Djam Karet's mode of working and repertoire gradually expanded beyond improvisation to include compositional elements, field recordings, and studio work. In 1987 the band released The Ritual Continues, which was chosen "Number 2 Album Of The Year" by ELECTRONIC MUSICIAN magazine. Two years later, they released Reflections From The Firepool, which received ROLLING STONE's accolade of " Number 2 Independent Album Of The Year". In 1991, the band released two separate CDs at the same time: Burning The Hard City and Suspension & Displacement which "show-cased the band's two extreme split personalities...The former was a bone-crushing excursion into heavy power rock with anarchistic guitar solos, and the latter was a brilliant diary of dark, eerie ambient soundscapes." (EXPOSE'). Three years later in 1994, Djam Karet released the CD Collaborator, with guests musicians: Jeff Greinke, Kit Watkins, Marc Anderson, Steve Roach, Carl Weingarten, and many others. As the 20th Century drew to a close, Djam Karet signed with Cuneiform Records, and entered a period of unprecedented creative productivity that only accelerated as the 21st century dawned. It began working on new releases for Cuneiform, initiated a program to repackage and reissue its back catalogue on Cuneiform, and began playing live on the festival circuit. Live shows were performed at Day Zero for 1999's ProgDay (San Francisco); at NEARfest 2001, progressive rock's premier US showcase; ProgWest 2001 (Claremont) and at 2002's ProgDay (North Carolina). Throughout the years they have also contributed music to 10 compilation releases, both here and in Europe. Many of those tunes are available nowhere else. When Cuneiform released its first Djam Karet CD in 1997 titled The Devouring, INNERVIEWS noted that Djam Karet is "back with a vengeance, one hell of an album". SPACE.com applauded their expanded sound featuring more keyboards: "As if the band's earlier music hadn't already scorched the ceilings of heaven, this new sonic incarnation burned like a stellar nova." In 1998, Djam Karet performed on the West and East Coasts, recordings a live album for Cuneiform titled Live At Orion, released in 1999, that was applauded as "one of the best live recordings that I've heard" and was chosen as "Top 10 Album of 1999" by EXPOSE' Magazine. The band began to do more work in the studio, resulting in the 2001 release of New Dark Age (Cuneiform) and also the Limited Edition CD release Ascension. Numerous critics called New Dark Age Djam Karet's best to date. In the words of PROGRESSION: "This may be the best Djam Karet recording yet, which is a mouthful, considering that the band's now-voluminous output is amply studded with gems. Their brilliant synthesis of abstract mind-trip and concrete butt-kick is at an all-time high here. Sonically, ...it is simply masterful. This is one of the major releases of the year." Around the same time as New Dark Age's release, and complementary to its work with Cuneiform, Djam Karet launched a series of self-released CD-Rs, reissues and limited edition CDs for its fans. Within two years, the band had self-released numerous CD projects, including recordings made at New York City's The Knitting Factory, an on-air performance recorded at KCRW-FM, and other archival performances. Out of this creative renaissance arose A Night For Baku. As a distillation of their musical visions across 20 years, A Night For Baku is indeed a diamond in Djam Karet's oeuvre, a true Djam Karet "classic", and featured the addition of new band member Aaron Kenyon on bass. The title derives from Japanese folklore: the Baku are mythical inhabitants of the dream world, valiant warriors who devour nightmares as the spoils of battle. The CD features Djam Karet using more keyboards and electronics, and collaborating on one track with Electronic musician Steve Roach, who worked previously with the band on Collaborator. It is this new line up as a quintet that created Recollection Harvest, one of their best and most melodic albums. Actually two albums on one CD, Recollection Harvest is divided into two chapters. The first-half is filled with their most melodic and jazzy music released so far, with a strong focus on composition and tight arrangements, Mellotrons and soulful guitar melodies. The second-half, titled Indian Summer, features a collection of compositions colored with beautiful acoustic guitars and analog synths, and showcases their more atmospheric side. In 2009 the band was flown to the Bordeaux area of France to headline the annual Crescendo Festival. Held in a huge grassy field right on the beach, this three-day progressive rock concert took place with great weather and fantastic music by all involved. With free camping and a bohemian atmosphere this was one of the group's most enjoyable gigs. To achieve a fuller and more massive live sound, the group acquired new member Mike Murray on guitar, allowing Gayle Ellett to focus more exclusively on keyboards. When they returned to the States they decided to record The Heavy Soul Sessions in 2010, to better document their current live sound. In order to achieve a more lively and dynamic sound, all of the music was performed live-in-studio without any overdubs and no compressors or limiters were used during the recording process. This gives the CD a sound that is very dynamic, punchy and powerful, where the drums and bass are crystal clear and aggressive, and the guitars and keyboards are warm and inviting, and clearly demonstrates the broad and varied world that is Djam Karet. KERZNER first broke into the prog scene by collaborating with Kevin GILBERT on his 1994 release 'Thud' and continued to work with GILBERT as the keyboard player for GIRAFFE. After the death of Gilbert in 1996, Dave founded the sound development company, Sonic Reality which focused on reproducing the sound of vintage instruments on modern keyboards. In working with Sonic Reality KERZNER helped bring Keith EMERSON's classic sound to the 2000's and worked directly with Steven WILSON on the sound for his 2011 release 'Grace for Drowning'. He began working with Simon COLLINS, son of Phil COLLINS (GENESIS) and was the keyboard player on COLLINS' 2008 release, 'U-Catastrophe'. The two bonded and formed the band SOUND OF CONTACT in 2010 and released their only album 'Dimensionaut' in 2012. The band was short lived though, with KERZNER leaving in 2014 to pursue his solo career. Dave took advantage of his connections and has a list of guests on his solo debut 'New World' that would make any prog fan squeal with delight. Released in 2014, 'New World' has a lush, almost epic soundscape at times. With vocals vaguely reminiscent of David GILMOUR era PINK FLOYD or RPWL, sweeping guitar work and an impressive list of guest musicians including Nick DI'VIRGILLIO (ex SPOCK?S BEARD), STEVE HACKETT (GENESIS), Francis DUNNERY (ex IT BITES), Jason SCHEFF (CHICAGO) and Keith EMERSON (EMERSON, LAKE and PALMER), this is an artist that any fan of less intricate side of progressive rock would enjoy. Dave Kerzner (aka “Squids”) is a songwriter, producer, keyboardist and vocalist who is best known for co-writing and co-producing Sound of Contact’s award-winning concept album “Dimensionaut” and he is also well known as the founder of the sound production company Sonic Reality. Over the years Dave has worked with many artists and producers ranging from Kevin Gilbert to Keith Emerson and ELP, Steve Hackett, Steven Wilson, Alan Parsons, Crowded House, Genesis, L. Shankar, Bono and The Edge, Ginger Baker, Nick Mason of Pink Floyd, Neil Peart of Rush, Jerry Marotta of Peter Gabriel, Billy Sherwood and Jon Anderson of Yes, David Longdon (Big Big Train), Rolling Stones, The Who, Durga and Lorelei McBroom (Pink Floyd), David Kilminster (Roger Waters), Joe Lynn Turner of Deep Purple, Ken Scott (Beatles, Bowie, Elton John), Hugh Padgham (The Police, Genesis), Heather Findlay (Mostly Autumn), Nick Davis (Genesis, XTC), Ringo Starr, Bob Siebenberg (Supertramp), Woody Woodmansey (David Bowie), Sam Phillips, T-Bone Burnett, Francis Dunnery (It Bites, Robert Plant), Phil Ramone, Billy Cobham, Terry Bozzio, Rod Morgenstein, Danny Gottlieb of Pat Metheny Group, John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin and Them Crooked Vultures, Smashing Pumpkins, Tom Waits, Barbara Streisand, Madonna, Beyonce, Pearl Jam, Aimee Mann, Jon Brion, Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Rush), Allen Sides (Ocean Way Recording), Rik Emmett (Triumph), John Wesley, Colin Edwin and Gavin Harrison (of Porcupine Tree), Carmine and Vinny Appice, John Blackwell (Prince), Ed Greene (Steely Dan), Alastair Greene (Alan Parsons Project), Russ Parish (Steel Panther), Toss Panos, Corky James, Nick D’Virgilio (Tears for Fears, Genesis, Big Big Train, Spock’s beard) and others. After many years working in sound design and production with SR and as a keyboardist with other artists, Dave decided it was time to take center stage as lead vocalist and put out his first Progressive Rock album as a solo artist. GLASS HAMMER
Attachment 1500 ABOUT GLASS HAMMER ....from the GLASS HAMMER official website Glass Hammer is an American progressive rock band from Chattanooga, Tennessee. They formed in 1992 when multi-instrumentalists Steve Babb and Fred Schendel began to write and record “Journey of the Dunadan”, a concept album based on the story of Aragorn from J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings. To their surprise, the album sold several thousand units via the Internet, The QVC Shop-At-Home Network, and their own toll-free order number. As such, Babb and Schendel were convinced that the band was a project worth continuing. The stage was then set for a successful career that now includes numerous albums, DVDs and an enthusiastic, world-wide fan base that continues to grow at a steady rate. While many musicians have appeared on Glass Hammer albums over the years, Babb and Schendel have remained the core creative force of the band. Both play a variety of instruments, but Babb is better known as the bassist while Schendel is the primary keyboardist. And though they also sing, a number of other vocalists (most notably Michelle Young, Walter Moore, Susie Bogdanowicz, Carl Groves and Jon Davison) have also handled lead vocal duties. Lyrically, Glass Hammer is inspired mostly by their love of literature (most notably Tolkien, C. S. Lewis and John Krakauer) and Babb’s love of Victorian prose and medieval mythology. Musically, they lean towards 70’s driven symphonic rock, focusing on epic-length songs anchored by Babb’s distinctive bass guitar work and strong keyboard playing from Schendel; specifically Hammond organs in the tradition of ELP. They have a superb melodic flow to the music they make, encapsulating real power and dynamics without ever becoming overpowering. Their most apparent influences are Yes, ELP, Genesis, and, to a less noticeable extent, Camel. Fans and critics are usually quick to attest that Glass Hammer have managed to combine those influences into a unique style all their own. Critically acclaimed albums have continued to flow from the Glass Hammer studio, with the most successful and noteworthy being “Chronomtree” (2000), “Lex Rex” (2002), “The Inconsolable Secret” (2005) and “IF” (2010). Vocalists and fan-favorites Carl Groves and Susie Bogdanowicz took a temporary hiatus from the band after 2009 and vocalist Jon Davison took over as lead vocalist for three studio albums; “IF”, “Cor Cordium” and “Perilous”. Kamran Alan Shikoh joined the band at the same time taking on the role of guitarist. During the recording of “Perilous”, Davison also assumed the role as front-man for Yes. This led to Carl Groves rejoining the Glass Hammer in 2013 for live performances and recording. Aaron Raulston joined at the same time as drummer for the group. Susie Bogdanowicz rejoined in late 2013 and appeared along with Raulston, Groves and Shikoh in 2014 concerts. Glass Hammer’s “Ode To Echo” release for 2014 featured performances by many of the band’s vocalists, including Bogdanowicz, Young, Moore and Davison, though Carl Groves was handling the lion’s share of the vocal duties for the band. “The Breaking Of The World” followed in 2015 along with the two CD one DVD set “Double Live” which was recorded and filmed at ROSFest in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Carl Groves and Susie Bogdanowicz fronted the group throughout 2015. 2016’s “Valkyrie” saw the lineup shift somewhat as Carl Groves departed and Susie Bogdanowicz stepped to the fore. Before recording sessions began, Babb, Schendel, Shikoh and Raulston rehearsed the music of “Valkyrie” for several weeks, as if they were preparing for a live concert. This was a new approach for Glass Hammer album production. According to the band, this was done in order to better capture the live energy of an actual Glass Hammer performance. “Valkyrie” was also conceived as a “full-blown concept album” in the tradition of “Lex Rex”, and “The Inconsolable Secret”. The current (2018) official lineup of the group is Babb, Schendel, Raulston and Bogdanowicz. Other prog musicians and rock artists have made contributions to Glass Hammer projects, including Jon Anderson of Yes, Arjen Lucassen, Rich Williams and David Ragsdale of Kansas, Rob Reed of Magenta and Randy Jackson of Zebra. Glass Hammer has also appeared with The Adonia String Trio and performed two concerts (2006-2007) with 120 plus member choirs from Belmont University and Lee University. PYMLICO
Attachment 1504 ABOUT PYMLICO ....from the PYMLICO official website Pymlico is an instrumental band from Oslo, Norway, led by composer and drummer Arild Brøter. The band mainly plays what has been described as a mix between progressive rock and fusion. However, their music also offers catchy hooks and singable melodies associated with pop music, alongside grandiose themes more in the vein of movie sound tracks. This combination of genres and a high level of musicianship gives the band it’s distinctive sound. Pymlico Øyvind Brøter: Keyboards Stephan Hvinden: Guitars Andreas Sjo Engen: Guitars Robin Havem Løvøy: Saxophones Are Nerland: Bass guitar / synth bass Arild Brøter: Drums / keyboards Oda Rydning: Percussion Pymlico was founded as a creative outlet for Arild Brøter in 2009. This led to three album releases: Inspirations (2011), Directions (2012) and Guiding Light (2014). The albums were made with a massive support of guest musicians, and they all received positive feedback and favourable reviews in the international progrock society. With a growing desire to perform the music live, Arild gathered a smaller band to do concerts – this eventually became the band Pymlico as we see today. In 2016 Pymlico signed on Apollon Records Prog and have since released four much acclaimed albums, «Meeting Point» (2016), «Nightscape» (2018) «On This Day» (2020) and «Supermassive» (2022). The last years has seen Pymlico being busy playing several festivals like «Festival Crescendo» in Sant-Palais-sur-Mer, France, «Slottsskogen Goes Progressive» in Gothenburg, Sweden, «Artrock i Stadsträdgården» in Lidköping, Sweden, «Haugaland Rock & Prog» in Haugesund, Norway, «Close to the Rain» in Bergen, Norway, and «We Låve Rock» in Hurum, Norway. The band has done support for Italian band The Watch and shared stages with bands like Magic Pie, Hasse Fröberg & Musical Companion, The Windmill, Gentle Knife, Infringement, Panzerpappa nad Oak. ARENA
Attachment 1512 ABOUT ARENA ....ARENA Biography from Progarchives.com Arena biography Founded in 1995 in Virginia Water, Surrey, UK - Still active as of 2020 The gathering of ARENA's famous musicians makes a super-group: Mick POINTER (Ex-MARILLION) plays the drums, Clive NOLAN (PENDRAGON) the keyboards, and Keith MORE (ASIA) played the guitar until replaced by John Mitchell (Ex-Kino). Vocalist Rob SOWDEN has been with the band since IMMORTAL? and the bass player is Ian SALMON. There have also been some guest appearances by Tracy HITCHINGS (singer of QUASAR, STRANGERS ON A TRAIN & LANDMARQ) and Steve ROTHERY (MARILLION's gifted guitarist). "Songs From The Lion's Cage" is then a very professional Progressive rock, both close to MARILLION and hard-rock. "Pride", their second opus issued in 1996 (one year after the previous one) confirmed the high musical level of this band, at a time when they added a touch IQ to their music. Curiously the band's sound gained in heaviness after their 2 first albums, and the music quality increased a lot in originality and musicianship. Recorded in 1998, "The Visitor" alternates passages inspired by Steve HOGARTH's group along with some dark instrumentation. "Immortal" shows a new heavier dimension that still remains anchored in the best neo-Progressive music. "Moviedrome" is an excellent twenty minute track. "Contagion" follows the glorious tradition of "Immortal", although I found it more hard edged and multidimensional from all aspects. This powerful and evoking concept album tells about the quest for redemption, through the vision of a dark and anguishing future. No doubt about it, people won't have to think for a long time before electing the best album of winter 2002-2003! ''Pepper's ghost'' from 2005 sees Arena entering the realms of a quite heavy and very symphonic sound with some metal elements, a real highlight of their career. Long-time members Rod Sowden and Ian Salmon left the band in 2010 and they were replaced by Paul Manzi and John Jowitt respectively, the latter starting his second stint with the band.''The Seventh Degree Of Separation'' offers a very fresh and pounding sound, but the song structures had now become a bit conventional. Same goes for their latest entry, the 2015 ''The Unquiet Sky'', here Jowitt's place has been taken by newcomer Kylan Amos. One of the best bands on the English scene nowadays... GALAHAD
Attachment 1515 ABOUT GALAHAD ....from the GALAHAD official website Galahad formed in 1985 just for fun playing roughly half covers (Genesis, Zeppelin, Rush, Sabbath, Focus, Marillion etc) and half original material. Galahad then supported a few fairly well known 'Progressive' bands that were coming up at the time including IQ, Pendragon, Haze and later Pallas and Magnum. Then, after mixing it with the slightly 'bigger boys' Galahad decided take it more seriously, and began playing only original material resulting in the release of their first proper album in 1991, 'Nothing Is Written', which was purely self -financed and released independently but which went on to sell several thousand copies. The success of 'Nothing Is Written' was also helped by the fact that the band received substantial air play on BBC Radio One, especially on the Radio One Rock Show hosted by the late, great Tommy Vance. The band then landed themselves with deals in the UK, Japan and Germany. The band has now released fifteen albums including albums by main band offshoots such as Galahad Electric Company and the Galahad Acoustic Quintet. The band has played hundreds of gigs in the UK, Europe and America over the last few years, at times in some very unusual venues! In 2002 Galahad released 'Year Zero' which featured John Wetton (Asia, King Crimson, Family etc.) on guest vocals. In September 2006 Galahad released their debut DVD 'Resonance' , which was recorded live in Katowice, Poland in May 2006. 'Empires Never Last' , which features Karl Groom (Threshold) on engineering duties, was released in 2007 and took the band in a heavier, more muscular, guitar orientated direction. This more contemporary, metallic approach seems to have worked as ‘Empires’ was a great success, both commercially and critically, and resulted in them winning album of the year at the 2007 Classic Rock Society awards. ‘Empires’ was also included in many top 10 album listings for 2007. In the interim and whilst recording TWO new studio albums Galahad released a couple of live albums ‘Sleepless in Phoenixville – Rosfest Live 2007’ and 'Whitchurch 92/93 - Live Archives -Vol.2' (CD/DVD) plus a re-issue of their 1992 Year Zero album, which also contained bonus CD consisting of live versions of tracks from Year Zero. 'Battle Scars', again recorded at Thin Ice by Karl Groom was released in April 2012 and took the band further in to a heavy/rockier direction but mixing it up with a few more overt modern dance/trance and classical influences. 'Beyond the Realms of Euphoria', the second album recorded at the same time was released in October 2012. A comprehensive biography entitled 'One For the Record - The Official Biography of Galahad' written by Andrew Wild was published in April 2013 documenting the history of the band from 1985 to the end of 2012. The Biography also comes with a companion Video Archive DVD which includes many rare and previously unreleased live performances, some dating as far back as 1986. 2014 saw the band release a clutch of EP’s, ‘Seize the Day’, 'Guardian Angel' and 'Mein Hertz Brennt' the latter containing several differing versions of the Rammstein classic. 2014 also saw Tim Ashton re-join the band on bass guitar after an absence of 22 years! 2015 was the 30th anniversary of the band forming, the band celebrated throughout the year with various releases and a special anniversary show at Mr Kyps in Poole on Saturday 4th July. To start the ball rolling in this anniversary year a re-mixed version of 'Empires Never Last' was released in January which also included a couple of extra tracks on the CD version as well as a companion album 'Empires: A curious Companion' (download only from the band's web site) containing demo tracks, some of which were and some of which were not used on the resulting album. In the summer an EP '30' was released as a limited edition containing four tracks which would later appear on the 'When Worlds Collide' 30th anniversary release. The band released a 2CD live set 'Solidarity - Live in Konin' in September 2015, which was recorded in 2013 during the Battle Scars/Euphoria tour. A 20th anniversary re-mastered digipack edition of 'Sleepers' containing an extra track was also released in the Autumn 2015. To finish off 2015 nicely the band released a double CD retrospective compilation album 'When Worlds Collide' which includes ten brand new recordings of old songs, some of which date back to 1985 and one track 'City of Freedom' which has never been recorded before, as well as a selection of tracks from their last three studio albums and recent EPs. This epic release, which also includes a 12 page booklet, clocks in at a mammoth 2 hours and 36 minutes and thus is great value for money! 2016 will be spent mainly writing new material for the next all new Galahad studio album. Spring 2017 saw the release of 'Quiet Storms' showing a more introspective, mellow side to the band. 2018 saw the release of a full on Prog/rock album 'Seas of Change' which, in true 'Prog' tradition, contains just one long form 42 minute piece of music which was performed in it's (almost) entirety at all live shows in 2018, which included performances in England, Scotland, Wales, Poland, The Netherlands and Norway. Galahad were also so nominated for the 2018 UK Progressive Rock awards in the 'UK Band/Artist of the year' category, eventually won, not surprisingly by Steven Wilson! 2019 sees the band concentrating mainly on writing and recording a brand new studio album as well as working on another exciting re-issue project. Dean released 'Constellations' an electronic album influenced by the likes of Jean-Michel Jarre, Tangerine Dream, Kraftwerk etc. featuring Stu on vocals on three tracks and Lee on guitar on one track. 2020 has been very busy year in spite of or maybe because of the Covid emergency seeing the release of 'Sleepers' on vinyl LP for the first time 25 years after its original release in 1995, available on both white and black vinyl. THE SAMURAI OF PROG
Attachment 1518 ABOUT THE SAMURAI OF PROG ....from the THE SAMURAI OF PROG official website The Samurai of Prog (in fact a nickname of Marco) started as a project participating in Finnish Progressive Association Colossus's tribute box-sets produced by Marco. TSOP performed for the first time in Tuonen Tytär II in 2008. But, to be precise, TSOP got its final form shortly after that when Marco asked Kimmo to step in for the Italian Marillion-tribute recording. It was not many months before Steve was asked to join – and the permanent Finnish-Italian-US line-up was complete. Doing music together was so rewarding that soon Marco came with an idea to do a full album. In fact, Steve and Kimmo had been composing music for their other bands, Resistor and Paidarion and for their solo albums, but for some reason TSOP's first two albums included mainly covers. But there were originals all the way from the beginning as well: Besides Kimmo's The Promise, there was David Myers' Before The Lamia in Undercover (2011). In fact you could easily call David the fourth member of TSOP - as there has been at least one of his composition in each and every TSOP album ever since that. By the time Secrets of Disguise (2013) came out Steve had composed an epic ”The Case of Charles Dexter Ward” for ”The Stories of H.P. Lovecraft”. However, maybe it was ”Sweet Iphigenia” that changed the course of TSOP and lead the way to performing original music instead of covers. Sweet Iphigenia was based on a Kimmo's simple barogesque melody, that was given a wonderful treatment and arrangement by Linus Kåse into something special. Thus the idea of performing unreleased music (new of old) was born. That principle was pursued in The Imperial Hotel album (2014). It includes only originals – except the main track, which is based on a demo recording made by England in 1975. The big inspiration to include The Imperial Hotel- track was naturally the fact that we were happy to have Robert Webb from England's original line-up to join us. Robert's role was completed with his other track, Limoncello. Maybe it is fair to say that The Imperial Hotel was a milestone for TSOP in many ways: besides moving aways from covers the groups own sound was better discovered because both the mixing and mastering were done by the group itself for the first time. Moreover, for a first time Ed Unitsky was involved with The Imperial Hotel and his works with TSOP have received a lot of positive response ever since after that. We have always felt that having great artwork and a proper package is essential part of our music, although it may not be so smart in these days of Spotify etc... Even though TSOP's basic line-up has been the same in every album, we would not be here without our guests. They have played important role in every album. One reason why you don't hear so many songs by Marco, Steve or Kimmo is the the fact that especially our wonderful keyboardists (for example Octavio Stampalia, Linus Kåse, Stefan Renström Eduardo Garcia Saluena and Kerry Schacklett) have provided us with such a great compositions that it has been an honor to make them come alive. Be it covers or originals, the basic idea of TSOP has been the same from the beginning: to make high-grade music with heart and feel - and by adding our own sound and touch there. There is a word for that: Samuraization. Alhough modern technology is sometimes utililised indeed, the music is still made and played by human beings, not machines. So, thank you for joining us in this journey; a journey that is perhaps economically insane, but anyway a project which has given us friends all around the world – both musicians and listeners. Your feedback makes us very humble and grateful – and it certainly keeps us moving forward in this journey.... ALIANTE
Attachment 1523 Italian progressive rock has many excellent instrumentalists who have created many good level albums, unfortunately they have a weak point .. easy abandonments after just two albums and this situation does not create the conditions for having groups that can last many years and can with the time to reach the level of the Top bands of the progressive .... and also for the Aliante we are in this umpteenth situation. I arrive five years late to meet this group which started with a formation of three artists with Bass Drums and Keyboards .... and they have released two good level albums that I recommend you listen to "Forme Libere" and "Sul Confine" the first released in 2017 and the second released in 2019 ... you will find them both on youtube and of course it is above all a music that has the keyboards of the excellent Enrico Filippi at the center of each track but the pandemic blocks the project and when they get together to create the third album Enrico Filippi leaves the group and not to go to another group but certainly due to differences on the genre direction of the album and is still without a group: I consider it an important loss because the following ones would certainly have been worthy of attention given the previous two .... however Aliante change lineup and also the style of playing by adding a guitarist and a new keyboardist but they are still able to produce good tracks and that's why I include them in my best tracks of 2022 ... even if I preferred them in the previous lineup, maybe they'll prove me wrong with the next album In the meantime, I will keep keyboardist Enrico Filippi under control if he joins a new group ABOUT ALIANTE ....from the ALIANTE official website ALIANTE are born from an idea of bassist Alfonso Capasso. Precisely on August 17, 2016, the drummer Jacopo Giusti receives a phone call from Alfonso who offers him a new, instrumental, trio formation "bass, drums and keyboards". Jacopo accepts immediately, eager for a new project of unreleased songs and also enthusiastic about returning to play together with Alfonso after so many years. The choice of a keyboard player immediately falls on Enrico Filippi, with whom they had a musical background from 2002 to 2004, while Alfonso and Jacopo have already played together since 1995. The birth of this new project has always been based on the personal style of each of the three, who have channeled their musical experience, teaching and above all musical tastes, a combination that immediately embraced progressive, jazz-rock, improvisations typical of the 70s. The first rehearsals immediately laid the foundations for the structures of the pieces, which arose at the very moment of the performance and in part from Enrico's ideas. The part that surprised the three musicians was the complete freedom that each one has and that they gave to the others. A mutual respect of ideas and music which in the end, defining it in detail, gave the trio the opportunity to define the final structure of the compositions. In March 2017 Aliante entered the recording studio and at Riccardo Andreini's "L'Ottava Nota" they gave birth to their first album entitled "Free Forms" precisely in honor of collective compositional freedom. The disc was printed and distributed by Vannuccio Zanella's MP Records and met with unexpected success that surprised the musicians themselves. In one track there is the narrative voice of Serena Andreini, who reads the introductory text of the disc, written for the occasion by Alfonso. Several concerts followed in the Tuscan area and in the rest of Italy, the most important of which, in 2018 at the Stazione della Birra in Rome, as an opening to the Le Orme concert. In the meantime, a very important collaboration was born, through the owner of the MP Records label, between Aliante and Renzo Zenobi, a singer-songwriter whose curriculum boasts collaborations with Francesco De Gregori, Lucio Dalla, Ennio Morricone, Franco Battiato and many others. The project, destined to turn into Zenobi's current latest album entitled "Volando", saw the participation of Aliante as a studio band and actively involved in the delicate arrangements of the Roman singer-songwriter. The album, released in 2018, also saw the participation in a piece by the pianist Arturo Stalteri. After this collaborative interlude, Aliante returned to writing the pieces for their second album, preferring more the compositions of the singles, then subsequently arranged by the whole band. This is how "Sul Confine" was born, a more sought-after and less improvised album like the previous one, which also sees the presence in a piece of the violinist Marianna Vuocolo. Also this second work, still distributed by MP Records, had a notable success in terms of sales and fans of the progressive genre. In January 2020 Aliante will perform an excellent concert in Milan for the presentation of the album. The global pandemic interrupts live activity in general for all musical events. The three then decide to compose new material, when suddenly Enrico Filippi abandons the project. Alfonso and Jacopo after several auditions, decide to try a guitarist instead of keyboards. Join the band, Davide Capitanio, guitarist with various experiences but above all a researcher of very particular sounds. At the end of the same year, Aliante made their live debut in this new formation, gaining a collective consensus of great enthusiasm. During the concert, the band that opened the set for Aliante had a multi-instrumentalist in their ranks who immediately attracted the attention of the three. After the concert Michele Lenzi (keyboards, bassoon, flute and guitar) was asked to join Aliante. With Michele inside the band, the sound has moved towards an even more sophisticated progressive in terms of sounds and compositions. The songs, once again born from individual ideas, unravel between melodies, psychedelic moments, fusions between guitar, keyboards and bassoon that have enriched the arrangements. After about a year (with the due difficulties related to the Covid restrictions) at the beginning of 2022 Aliante returned to the studio, as always at Andreini's Ottava Nota, recording the much material composed in 2021. On the album there is a return to the feminine in terms of narration with Serena Andreini and to the violin with Marianna Vuocolo, both in a piece of the disc. The title of the new one is “Destinazioni oblique” and it is a long, new journey Attachment 1522 Hi friends 2022 Work in Progress..ive These are my best tracks of 2022 Track Title-Group or Artist-Album The Chosen Ones-LALU-Paint the Sky Land of Green (part 1)-KARFAGEN-Land of Green and Gold Jagannath-SIMON PHILLIPS-Protocol V Alda-BREIDABLIK-Alduorka Mrs Tibbets-JETHRO TULL-The Zealot Gene Living For A Better Day-TIME HORIZON-Power Of Three A Needle Tree-KARCIUS-Grey White Silver Yellow and Gold No Still Moment-LIGHTHOUSE SPARROWS-Aerials Little Pretty-STEVE VAI-Inviolate The Elephants of Mars-JOE SATRIANI-The Elephants of Mars Wilderness Excursion-KAIPA-Urskog Changing Worlds-THE JOHN IRVINE BAND-Psychopomp In 256 Zeichen-TANGERINE DREAM-Raum Scissors-GHOST OF THE MACHINE-Scissorgames Die Before You Wake-BEN CRAVEN-Monsters from the id The Changes-THE TANGENT- Songs From The Hard Shoulder The Myth of the Mostrophus-RYO OKUMOTO- The Myth Of The Mostrophus The Odd Land Of Nod-PROPORTIONS- The Odd Land Of Nod Harridan-PORCUPINE TREE- Closure/Continuation Heroic Materials-COSMOGRAF- Heroic Materials The Continuum-DJAM KARET-Island In The Red Night Sky Der Hauch Des Lebens-KLAUS SCHULZE-Deus Arrakis Under The Microscope-ARENA-The Theory of Molecular Inheritance Better Life-DAVE KERZNER -The Traveler It's Love-GLASS HAMMER -At the Gate Confusion-PYMLICO-Supermassive Anthem to the Phoenix Star-THE SAMURAI OF PROG-Anthem To The Phoenix Star Omega Lights-GALAHAD-The Last Great Adventurer Il Mondo Di Fronte-ALIANTE-Destinazioni Oblique Attachment 1524 Attachment 1525 Il Mondo Di Fronte-ALIANTE https://mellowlabelproductions.bandc...ondo-di-fronte GOOD LISTENING |

Attachment 1526 ABOUT INNER PROSPEKT "INNER PROSPEKT" or Alessandro Di Benedetti multi-instrumentalist with a preference for keyboards that I have been following for many years with a long discography, I thought he was the classic lone wolf closed in his recording studio in the center of Rome immersed in a room full of instruments to be recorded on tracks to then arrive at the creation of his solo albums .... and instead today looking for information on Alessandro I discover that he created his own group Mad Crayon and released 4 albums from 1994 until the last one in 2020 all of a good level that I started listening to, the best according to the critics should be "PREDA" which is ' also featured on Aural Moon and not only .... many of the keyboards of the last eight albums from 2019 to 2022 of "THE SAMURAI OF PROG" until to the album "The Spaghetti Epic 4" are by Alessandro Di Benedetti. From his last solo album "GREY ORIGIN" I have chosen "The Machinery" to include it in the best tracks of 2022. DEREK SHERINIAN
Attachment 1530 ABOUT DEREK SHERINIAN ....DEREK SHERINIAN Biography from Progarchives.com Derek Sherinian biography Born August 25, 1966 (Laguna Beach, California, USA) DEREK SHERINIAN is an American keyboardist well known for a prolific recording and touring career, and has played as a side man to numerous musicians on tour, many very well known in the rock industry, such as BILLY IDOL, ALIC COOPER, ALICE IN CHAINS, and others. In the studio, he can be found on records from many bands, both his and others' projects, such as DREAM THEATER , PLANET X , PLATYPUS , and others. In conjunction with this, he has had an active solo career for over a decade, producing hard-hitting jazz rock albums with a metal edge. Many often feature famous guest musicians that he'd toured with. SHERINIAN began playing piano at age five. He received a scholarship to the esteemed Berklee College of Music while in high school, and he went on to room and meet with many soon-to-be-famous musicians, such as future MEGADETH and SAVATAGE guitarist Al PITERLI, and the three founding members of DREAM THEATER. After leaving Boston, SHERINIAN made his first success in touring with ALICE COOPER in 1989. He went on to tour with many bands during that period. In 1994, SHERINIAN was called by his former schoolmates John PETRUCCI, John MYUNG, and Mike PORTNOY to ask him to replace former keyboardist Kevin MOORE during their 1994 "Waking up the World" tour in support of their third studio album "Awake." After a successful tour (despite singer James LaBRIE's wrecked vocal chords during the tour), the band asked him to remain as their permanent keyboardist. He went on to record the "A Change of Seasons" EP, "Falling into Infinity," and "Once in a LIVEtime" with the band, before being asked to leave the band. He was replaced with Jordan RUDESS, whose style the band thought would better suit their music. After his stint with DREAM THEATER, SHERINIAN went on to begin a prolific recording career. Beginning in 1998 with he, John MYUNG (of DREAM THEATER), Rod MORGENSTEIN (of DIXIE DREGS), and Ty TABOR (of KING'S X) began the recording project PLATYPUS and released two albums, "When Pus Comes to Shove" in 1998 and "Ice Cycles" in 2000, after which the band broke up (only to reform under the moniker THE JELLY JAM without SHERINIAN). This was followed finally by the genesis of his solo career. His first solo album was titled "Planet X" and was released in 1999. He recorded the spacey, metallic jazz rock album in collaboration with drummer Virgil DONATI. The album led to SHERINIAN and DONATI forming a side project of the same name making similar music to the album. "Planet X" was followed by "Inertia" in 2001, which featured a very similar style. 2003 saw the release of "Black Utopia," which was a much darker and metallic album, with the obvious jazz rock foundation still present. "Mythology" was released in 2004 and had a stronger jazz fusion feel than his other albums. The album featured a number of fusion and rock legends, such as Alan HOLDSWORTH, Jerry GOODMAN, and others. 2006 saw "Blood of the Snake" be released, which was a much more metal-heavy album, lacking the distinct jazz edge of his other albums. Appearances from musicians such as Zakk WYLDE, John PETRUCCI, SLASH, and other metal musicians accentuate this theme. SHERINIAN released his sixth studio album, "Molecular Heinosity," in 2009, which continued the style of "Blood of the Snake with a jazzier edge. 2011 saw the release of "Oceana," which was a more laid back jazz rock/metal album, seeming to be a slight return to his roots. SHERINIAN plays in a style very akin to a guitar playing, often turning his keyboard at a reflexive angle as so he can play like a guitar. He cites influences ranging from Jan HAMMER to Keith EMERSON to Steve VAI and Alan HOLDSWORTH. His dynamic style has gained him a considerable amount of praise and respect in the music world. With his current track record, one can assume fans can expect more quality SHERINIAN music for a long time. JEAN MICHEL JARRE
Attachment 1540 ABOUT JEAN MICHEL JARRE ....JEAN MICHEL JARRE Biography from Official website JEAN-MICHEL JARRE FIRST CAME TO INTERNATIONAL FAME WITH HIS NUMBER ONE HIT ALBUM « OXYGENE » WHICH WENT ON TO SELL OVER 18 MILLION COPIES WORLDWIDE. Composer, performer, producer. Visionary, innovator, cultural ambassador. Any list of Jean-Michel Jarre’s countless factettes would inevitably come short of his actual significance in music history. “JMJ” is a living legend and often referred to as the “Godfather of Electronic Music”. When Jarre launched his landmark- debut album “OXYGENE” in 1976, he opened a new chapter in music history. The record has sold over 18 million copies and laid the foundations for his exceptional career. Jarre’s pioneering work gave birth to a veritable cult and the fastest-growing trend the music industry has ever stood to witness: the rise of electronic music. Jean-Michel Jarre’s music always followed his firm conviction that progress could only ever be achieved through daring deviations from the norm. Born to famous film music composer and director Maurice Jarre, JMJ studied harmony and counterpoint, became a student of the great musicologist Pierre Schaeffer and began drawing his own creative conclusions from his mentor’s “musique concrète”. Boldly balancing between the spheric-abstract and the very direct melodic foundations of his music, Jarre managed to evoke the poetry of encounter and connection: between people, between handmade and high-tech, between organic and artificial, between wisdom and vision. Jarre’s visionary creative output is perpetually linked to his innovative exploration of new technological trends. From the first modular and polyphone synth and drum-machines to digital keyboards, plug-ins and apps, JMJ is always one the forefront to use them. He was the one to popularize the laser harp, he used the Houston skyline at a gigantic outdoor concert in 1986 as a projection surface for the first-ever large-scale laser-mapping performance and set up a live video connection to the MIR astronauts in space during his epic Moscow spectacle in 1997. His millennium concert in Egypt was the first concert ever to be streamed live on the internet. Jarre was also the first to release an entire album in 5.1. Sound and the first artist to use 3D audio technology for music. Jarre, a three time Guinness World Record holder for largest outdoor performances, was always keen to present his music in one-off events and turning them into unforgettable experiences for those present. Jarre came up with the idea to create a whole new form of live experience: gigantic and flamboyant high- tech performances. Spectacular shows with massive sound engineering and futuristic laser and light projections : free outdoor concerts that incorporated their iconic urban and natural surroundings into unforgettable multi-sensory experiences. Jarre set up these concerts in the most specular open air venues around the globe: Whilst Jarre is at the forefront of artists using new technology for music, his art was always accompanied by deep reflections on the role of technology for the future of our planet. The famous 1976 Oxygene cover that showcased the polluted mother earth in form of a skull, the Equinoxe cover by artist Michel Granger which was both fascinating and disturbing, added to the most iconic cover artworks of all time: countless rows of mysterious and utterly faceless “watchers” seemed to stare right at whoever looked at the image : an early vision of technology constantly watching us. Just recently the cover art for Equinoxe Infinity caused a stir. It was released in two versions. One visual depicts a utopian future, where mankind coexists peacefully with nature and technology. The other one paints a dystopian picture of fear and distortion, where dark Artificial Intelligence has taken over the world. Optimistic in nature and yet critic in spirit, Jarre always raised awareness for questions around nature and technology— and became a globally renowned expert on the topics. He was honoured with the Stephen Hawking Medal for Science Communication, collaborated with Edward Snowden, tested Artificial Intelligence for music compositions and is constantly invited to share his thoughts in speeches and forums. The UN appointed Jarre UNESCO spokesperson for Environment and Education, and in 2013 he was elected President of the Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers (CISAC) in Washington. DAAL
Attachment 1548 ABOUT DAAL ....DAAL Biography from Progarchives.com Formed in Bergamo, Italy, in 2008 DAAL is an Italian duet. It's a project by Davide GUIDONI and Alfio COSTA. They're both experienced musicians on Italian Prog rock scene - Guidoni is a drummer who had been working with Taproban, The Far Side, Gallant Farm, Nuova Era, Ozone Player and others. Costa (Tilion, Prowlers, Colossus project, Dark Session) plays keyboards - mostly vintage ones, as well as some softsynths. It's not surprising their music is rich in lush textures, with emphasis on a multitude of layers; a heritage of Italian Progressive Rock movement is evident, as well as various other influences. A curiosity is their nod to a Swedish progressive rock scene. interesting Italian duo of this new album that below I propose a review found on the site www.progrockjournal.com and with which I totally agree. from the album I chose the first track "Journey Trought The Spiral Mind part.1" review from www.progrockjournal.com DAAL is an Italian duo made up of expert musicians Alfio Costa and Davide Guidoni, active with this Instrumental Prog project since 2008. The new album “Daedalus” was released on May 13, 2022 via Ma.Ra.Cash Records and contains 6 long tracks. duration at which Ettore Salati on guitar and Bobo Aiofi on bass are played. The opening track “Journey Trought The Spiral Mind part.1” is the longest in duration, exceeding 14 minutes and is the first part of this suite ending with the final track. A long intro with effects and noises begins the piece, which develops with an intertwining of piano and guitar to which deep bass lines and percussion drumming are added. For most of the time the track moves in a more experimental territory, with extensive use of effects and noises and avant-garde sounds. In the end it takes on more progressive traits, always with an intricate touch, and then closes. With a solid rhythmic session and a granite intertwining between heavy guitar riffs and keyboards opens “Icarus Dream,” also extracted as a single to anticipate the album. A good mix between keyboards and guitar, a tight rhythm and tempo changes with valuable inserts at times Experimental in other more Symphonic ones. An excellent piece of Instrumental Prog, full of ideas and with a solid and elaborate sound. “Painting Wings” opens with dreamy keyboard melodies, which characterize the long introductory part, which lasts over 3 minutes. With a change they develop a Prog theme with a sumptuous Hammond a Symphonic imprint that reminds us of the sounds of the past. Granitic and engaging, it is enriched by tempo changes and valuable keyboard works, to conclude in the second part with a more Experimental section. A first Experimental part characterizes the long suite “Labyrinth 66,” and then in the second part develops a very elaborate Prog with Jazzy traits. Enriched by the textures of the guitar, which offers an interesting solo inspiration, duet with the keyboards for the whole second part. A track with two faces, the first with decidedly more Experimental effects and noises, the second with a Jazzy Prog Rock, solid and full of quality ideas. The shorter track on the album “In My Time Of Shadow” begins with a piano melody, which evolves into a vintage Sinfonic Prog sound. Rich textures of keyboard and guitar, a softer rhyming session, long instrumental plots as in the best tradition of the genre, enhancing the compositional and executive technique of the band. The album ends with the second part of the suite “Journey Trought The Spiral Mind part.2” which unlike the first one has a pompous Prog sound. With continuous tempo changes and a fine blend of guitar and keyboards, he brings the sounds of the past into a modern and personal context. A pleasant listening from start to finish, with the band skilled in mixing Classic Prog passages with other more Experimental ones. The long instrumental plots allow to enhance the personal technique of the artists both in the compositional and executive phases. A listening recommended to all lovers of instrumental prog, with references to the ’70s, brought to the present day with their own personal touch.
