Show Programming

I am sorry to say, but I am very unhappy with the airing and replay times of Dale's and Fish's shows.

Please note that the European time in the following is Eastern -6

Dale's original show in on (European time) at 6 pm to 8 pm, and Fish's (replay) is from 7 to 9 pm. The replays of the original of these shows are just in the middle of the night for me. Both shows are great and I really do not want to miss them! I am listening to the Moon (when I am not travelling) from 8 am to 6 pm (European) and maybe from 10 pm to 12 pm (European time).

So you see (hopefully) that these shows are not in the time I can listen to the Moon (I have a private life too..)

My suggestion to Jim to make a 3rd replay of the shows in times where we (one of the few Euromoonies) can hear to it on office time (like 80% of you AmeriMoonies do). His answer was that he does not like it and Jim asked me to open a thread on it.

There it is!

Please ALL tell me your opinion!!

Do you care or bother if these 2 shows are replayed a 3rd time at times like 3 am Eastern

Please let us your comments.

Thanks to all..specially to Jim running this place..My life would have been different (and I mean worse) without the Moon

Re: Show Programming

Why not have the second replay of both shows in a time when the Euro moonies can hear it, rather than have a third replay. Or am I missing something.

Re: Show Programming

the goal for the replays has always been to facilitate the worldwide audience of Aural Moon, especially Europe. Please, ALL Europeans, chime in with what times are best. We aim to please... (Yes Mossy, you are spot on.)

Re: Show Programming

I can only say that I'm totally agreed with Lotus. I really like to hear the shows on AM but they are always late for European Moonies.
Once I heard the beginning of the show ... but after half an hour I couldn't listen because of private life in the evening.

Please : replay when US people can't listen ! Well, when I might think they sleep .....

Greetings,

ErikM

just out of curiosity, on average, how many members are listening from midnight to 6am eastern time?

Danger, what I can see during that time (6 to 12 am European time) there are around 80 to 120 listeners and 10 to max 20 members on line, most of the lurking or just logged in as the did not close down the browser with the Moon...

Again, please all Euro- or AmeriMooniespost here your opinion about having a "EuroMooniefriendly" replay of these 2 shows....

Re: Show Programming

I have absolutely no problem with the shows being replayed at peak euro or asian hours.

But I think y'all need to get your priorities straight. Family over Aural Moon?!?! Oh, come on. :rolleyes2

All kidding aside, what I'd like to see is someone from the mother country(ies) produce a show. Europe and Asia need to be represented more. And I also think they should be broadcast in their native language. This is a world wide broadcast, after all.

Cheers :vaxman:

Re: Show Programming

I listen from 8pm until 1am (UK time) whenever I can. Like lotus says it would be nice to get a replay during that time, or maybe a podcast facility like the european perspective.

Re: Show Programming

It would not bother me at all if COTM or NMOM (or Gags show) played during the off hours in North America, and prime time in Europe. My vote, if I had one, would go for a third broadcast. Aural Moon has listeners world wide and they should not be discouraged.
What are the arguments against it, if any?

i often listen to the moon between 6/7 pm to 1/2 am , a third broadcast during this 'window' would be nice.merci

Both replays are during that time frame, Mailo. I would like a third replay in the European morning (from 9 am to 12 am (CET))

This is easily solved. Everyone use the time zone. (GMT-5) :P

Re: Show Programming

You can't make everybody happy all the time, That is for shure. But I don't see why the Euro Guys can't have these shows aired in the middle of our night. Hell, Most of us are sleeping or in bed at least. Give it to them. I hate to see grown men cry. lol

Solution is so easy: Make a 3rd replay on working days (select for each show one day between Monday to Friday) from 3 to 5 am Aural Moon Time!

Even our Japanese Friends will be thankful!

I was just writing another novel with arguments, but I just deleted it. It seems that together with Erik, Mailo and SonicVista, I am the only EuroMoonie really interested in the issue. So do whatever you want, it was just a egoistic proposal with the side effect to make AM even more popular in Europe!

(Last post on that issue from here!)

All opinions that i read are positives so any problem. While americans sleep i can listen and AM can choice too, to repeat few times.

Re: Show Programming

Ive talked to Many Eurobuds about the time for a 3rd Replay of Dale and Fish's Show.

Simple math shows us that 1 AM in San Diego is a time when the North American continent is basically asleep. This is Morning is Europe, 10 am In fact.

Many of our Veteran Listeners cant hear the Great new Moon music or Cd's playing in full in the correct order. Our friends Dale and Fish work long hours to put these wonderful shows together.

So this , after much thought is my petition you, Jim, progdirjim to the world. To progdir this into happening for our Brothers in Prog across the Ocean....

Re: Show Programming

well, i'm going to offer a completely different and - not knowing what is involved - perhaps completely unfeasible alternative.

is there any way to have Dale's and Fish's show made available on demand (podcast?) - even if only for a limited time and/or only to members?

thanks for listening...

ken

Please do a third reply for our European friends when we Americans are fast asleep. It will work for everyone.

Re: Show Programming

I would like to reiterate my support for an Euro showtime. I like Sharc's idea of 4am (e.s.t.) or 1am (p.s.t.). Depending on location the show would air between 9-11am (gmt). I even think we could start as late as 5am (est). East coast doesn't really start signing on until after 7.

I ususally check in on the moon when I rise and prepare to leave for work (6am est). There is rarely anyone there and only remnants of our friends across the pond conversations linger in the speak easy.

My other proposal would be to change my 1st air time on Monday to 9 or 10 am (est). That should still catch them at the end of their work day.

I also notice a very visible european community on their Saturday evenings (2-6 est or 7-12 gmt).

There's a bunch of choices, folks. Come on, Jim, give the word and it shall be done.

(and I'm still waiting for a european based show) :yougo

Re: Show Programming

sorry guys, I didn't realize this was waiting for an OK from me. OK.

If it still works, I'd prefer 2am Pacific time, only because I'm sometimes still up at 1am pacific, and if the show starts then, I may get sucked into staying up even later, which would make a bad idea (of my own making) even worse =8^O But if the tech experts can make this happen, make it so...

So, when can we expect the first "Euromoonies comfortable" replay of the shows?

Sorry, I am a little impatient. Thanks to Jim for the go ahead and to Vax, who for sure will have some work with it!!

Let's go with Tuesday 5am EST for Dale's show, and Friday 5am EST for Fish's. Dale, can you coordinate with Vax about the scripts? Thanks all!

I've stayed away from this until now and only now because it means I have Janitorial work to do.

Please list here the three time-slots for the two shows:

Dale:Day of Week/Start Hour (E*T)
Fish:Day of Week/Start Hour (E*T)

I'll take care of the rest.

Re: Show Programming

Here's my 10 cents worth.........FIne by me that the shows also play in the European daytime, though I rarely hear AM at work - too busy really. I listen to shows in the evening when I can but lately I will admit I've listened to more of my own collection - especially 2010 releases.
