Hi Moonies!!!
This is your favourite hog trainer and baker's daughter controler Woj from Poland. I have the pleasure of inviting all Moonies to the year-end poll on Aural Moon. Idea and rules are easy. We're choosing the best progressive rock album of Anno Domini 2004 by voting for the progressive rock albums released in 2004. Here first and last digression: we will perhaps allow voting for non-prog albums involving prog musicians (for ex. Tony Banks' classical opus Seven or Steven Wilson's Blackfield). To participate in the poll you have to be registered in Aural Moon forums and send ONE PRIVATE MESSAGE to the user Top2004. This message should include your private 2004 toplist consisting of maximum 10 albums. First album on your list gets 10 points, second gets nine etc. It's obvious, isn't it? In your private message to user Top2004 you can also involve a New Year greetings for all Moonies. Why? Because grand finale of our play will be the special New Year show (probably on January the second), during which the results of the poll will be announced and your wishes read. We will sum up passing prog rock year and merrily welcome the new one. Of course in the environment of the most wonderful 2004 prog rock tunes. DEADLINE FOR VOTES IS CHRISTMAS. I'm waiting for them. Keep rockin'! TopWoj ;) |
And Woj, why don't you let us know how many votes you've received once a week or something like that...
|
maybe....
sometime in January I can do a show with the winners.
Sigor Ros didn't release anything in 2004 did they? |

BTW, is there a list of the proggish releases of 2004? I want to vote, but I can't remember all the releases.... |

Now about the list. I didn't want to make it because there are so many lables we don't know that closed list would be a mistake. But I think that what you posted link to is a great helper while thinking about the votes. |
one notable album missing from Gags' list is Steve Unruh's "Out Of The Ashes"
and Kevin Rees "Timepiece" Theory of One "Antithesis" Jon Durant "Things Behind The Sun" Azureth "Yesterday's Future, Tomorrow's Past" Tr3nity - "Precious Seconds" all of these can be heard on the Moon... |

To be honest I think we should not count CD singles. What do you think?...
|
albums only, not singles or EPs. that's my opinion.
Plus, Sigur Ros wouldn't make a top 500 list anyway... (ooh, low blow!) |
That EP wouldn't rate as high as some, and Von isn't great either, but Agaetis Byrjun and ( ) are immaculate. They are top fifty any year. :D Regardless, I've already put my vote it and it better be counted! :D
|
Another album just relaesed that must count is The Watch - Vacuum - I've just got it and it's melting my brain like it was in 1973.

1. Spaz, it would be better not to do exceptions so if you can please send me your vote without Sigur.
2. Despite clear statement that we vote for prog albums or side-projects of prog musicians I have received some votes in which prog albums are in minority. Should I count them? 3. I am quite disappointed with the turnout. I assumed that most people will vote in the last moment but right now I have about 10 votes so it's not much. Maybe not all Moonies know, maybe info on the main page is too small. Could you for ex emphasise it in such way ? |
Ahh one more thing. I am waiting for your wishes!!!!!!! As for today only one person (in fact couple) sent them. The wishes will be read during the show by the special guest from London :D .

Do you mean new year wishes? For me most are unprintable:eek: |

Hey Moonies,
first thing is to remind of what you probably know about. The show is on Saturday at 16 EST (21 for UK, 22 for Western/Central Europe). I know that for the Westcoasters it is in fact Saturday noon or sth so not the best time, but it wasn't possible to find better time both for Europe and US. We in Europe will go to bed at 0:30 this evening ;). OK, and one more technical matter. If you keep the fingers crossed for your private favs don't expect high positions of: Sigur Ros - Ba Ba.... Poverty's No Crime - The Chemical Chaos Clearlight: Infinite Symphony Djam Karet - A Night For Baku Karda Estra - Constellations as these albums aren't on the list. Why? Because they are from 2003 (except Sigur which is CD single). I was always checking a few sources to get info from which year these mentioned were. They are clearly from 2003. Sorry. But don't worry :D . Interesting party ahead us. It's a pity that only about 20 votes so lion's share of places has a few albums in (thank God not in the strict top), but results are interesting and we will listen to many nice 2004 songs. Show lasts for 167 mins and there is only about 15 mins of my clumsy talking so music, music, music.. :D . So exactly what AM exists for. See you on Sat then. |
looking forward to it!
I will try to be there...and to have fun with chat...nicely done woj! Is this easier than training hogs?

Woj, as I said you, the show was excellent. And you made a good selection!
I hope, you will encourage yourself to do the same next year for the CD's of this year! |
Thanks for the show, Wojtek and everyone else who was involved.
-Methem |
Well done Wojtek...........
A great show.......
I will have to catch a replay as my system crashed during the Proto Kaw track and I missed the last few songs.......hey ho! Still it was a triumph for you Wojtek. You should be very proud. |
great show...
Bravo Woj!
Very well written and good choice of diverse tracks ... Excellent stuff .. looking forward to the next one. :D |
Great job, Woj!
Thanks for all your hard work putting this together. The show was great, and your English was superb.
Dziekuje bardzo! |
many thanx!
Most excellent & varied show Woj. Thanx for your work on the poll & show, it's greatly appreciated.
|
Great show!
Wojtek, and all involved,
What a wonderful birthday present!! :D A great job, and much appreciation for the effort to assemble, analyze and construct the list, and then to present it so effectively!! I will be catching the replays to hear the whole show, but it was a great way to spend the day prepping for a party here. ;) Onward into 2005!!!!!! |
Sweet deal. I was suprised to see some of the "obscure" ones I voted for get more than one vote, such as Matthew Shipp and Tortoise. I also gives kudos to the two other blokes who went ahead and threw in U2 along with me.:D
|
now what we need is an "Aural Moon" label to release these "best of" shows on cd...
some legal eagle would be needed to work out the rights. |
All times are GMT -5. The time now is 06:55 AM. |
