The Teerminator came to Texas!
Heart of Texas Covair Car Show, Burnet, Texas, April 18th. He drove from Oklahoma in his Purple 1964 Covair. He judged, and visited with Ted (Texas Ted) and his wife Carol for a couple of hours. Fun was had by all! Thanks to Chris for inviting us to visit! Regards from Texas, Ted P.S. I am wearing my Aural Moon t-shirt. |

Re: Moonies Meeting Moonies
Chris,
It was GREAT to see you again too. Carol and I had a wonderful time. Riding a longhorn - wow! Thanks for sharing your love of these rear-engined cars! Regards from Texas, Ted |
Re: Moonies Meeting Moonies
Chris,
I just looked back at our first meeting and the picture you posted from 2007, and looked again at the picture from this year's covair show - you are getting a bit more grey in your hair color... Not that I can talk, with my white beard, but I am getting greyer on top as well.... The beauty of age! Regards from Texas, Ted |

I've known Jim for ~10 years now. We have exchanged many emails and we chat most every day but I've only "spoken" to him once on a brief phone call.
It was a unique experience to finally physically meet (and talk to) him. Unfortunately his trip started with a 5 hour flight delay followed by lost luggage and passport and a less than helpful airline and US Consulate Office. And then the New York Rangers lost to the Winnipeg Jets :). His lost things were thankfully found and returned. We got out for a bit of sightseeing before coming over for supper on Saturday. Timber was supplied with ample treats and he mostly warmed up to him (except when Jim left the room on his own, then there was concern!). My wife Sharon cooked us a delicious roast beef dinner and we had apple pie and ice cream for dessert followed by a too short visit because Jim had a 6am flight home. Jim brought the flowers you see in the background. Attachment 1490 Attachment 1491 Attachment 1492 |
Re: Moonies Meeting Moonies
I told JIM that AM has made for some of us something huge, beyond the pure music, which by itself is already a huge huge thing (I speak for me and a few ones that shared it with me this through the years)
I see these pictures and I only can say happy for both of you, I know the connection,,,and happy for all the community in this place. |

Re: Moonies Meeting Moonies
Thank you very very much amigo ART !
The first one is my sweet Pedrita and our progdirjim of course; the following picture is another Jim s new 'chilean friend' Now,,, us and my good friends : to the left of Jim is German Vergara,,band leader of Aisles; to my left a great piano player ,Sergio aka 'wrongchord' which is totally false,,immensely talented; and front us Francisco. Aisles and Francisco are in library. The last one,,well,,your moonfriends of course in the tasting room of a well known vineyard; Jim enjoyed a lot that place. Great connoisseur of course. I dont drink wine so I assume it was fine for my friend. It was a nice time. |
Re: Moonies Meeting Moonies
I dont have social media accounts so, I dont know if JIM has posted some pictures on Facebook, Instagram etc.
I felt and I feel honored by his visit; the guy has always a friendly smile,,highly recommended as a friend :) A highlight this 2022. |

I did post many pictures on Facebook, including this one and I mentioned that at this point in the trip, I think my last night, I was speaking spanish as well as I can, Luis was speaking some english, and we had a pretty good conversation without MARIO having to translate. Great fun! |
Re: Moonies Meeting Moonies
ahh yesssss "Palau"...well actually it is chilean slang
The 'right slang' way is "Pelao"....which is a deformation of the correct way to write it : "PelaDo"... "ADO" ending in spanish verbs is the past perfect,,like EAT-EATEN and chilean spanish doesn t pronounce the "D". Now,,, 'Pelado' is the past perfect of 'To Peel' ,,so the meaning is related to my good friend s head....no hair. Nicknames and metaphorical references are extremely popular in SA; Chilean and Argentineans probably are the top 2. And regarding the pronunciation ,,both are the worst spanish in my opinion. So JIM was amazingly well dealing with this weird spanish. |
Re: Moonies Meeting Moonies
Hey folks. Just letting you know that Kurt (NorCalKurt) has died. No real details, but it was fairly sudden. He went into the hospital just this past week.
