Was there a reason you posted this three times or was that a system belch?

System belch. I hit "submit reply" but nothing happened, so I hit it again. I dunno...

Yesspaz 10-19-2004 11:17 PM

Two more:

1. The Moody Blues' album "To Our Children's Children" is listed as "To Our Children's Children's" - at least the song "Watching and Waiting" anyway.

2. The band Xang has a song listed as by XANG, so SAM will see XANG and Xang as different artists.

Perhaps you can look to see if there is anything about this song that would cause this. It happens from time to time with tracks here; maybe there is some common thread/issue.

I have no idea how I missed this one the first time around. I've popped it on the queue and will see if it shows itself.

Sorry for the delay, Vax. I blame Cingular, the fuckers.

OK, fair enough. I'll write it off as a system belch. Might have happened during the just-post-shout where we were having some odd and random unexplained and undefined instances.

Oh, and for the record (this is for everyone, not just 'spaz): if you see some sort of system wonkage, something that just isn't right, or doesn't work properly, let me know ASAP, specifically with (as Vax did) the time it happened, what played that caused it to bhelch, and what cleared it up.

Thanks.

Roger -Dot- Lee, getting caught up here.

The album title is actually "To Our Children's Children's Children" and seems to be running into the limitation of field length for these.

I was unable to locate any song by the artist name of XANG in the database. So either it was a glitch or someone else has already fixed it.

It may well have been me, as I've slept since then.

Roger -Dot- Lee, and speaking of which...

OOOOOOOOOOOh! Well, now you know how much I know about the Moodies.

I'll look into that XANG/Xang thing.

Yesspaz 10-21-2004 10:11 PM

Not an error, but I was able to find the English translation of the one song in Japanese on Rovo's Sai. In the library it's listed as ?? - the translation is "Aurora Borealis."

?? is actually a street translation, meaning, "two question marks".

Example: What up? Dog?

or

Godspeed? You Black Emperor?

Yesspaz 10-22-2004 07:45 AM

Yeah, I read that in Japan when they see the Aurora Borealis on television it's a law that they have to stand up, put their left index finger in their ear, and say "question mark question mark." If they don't the Sumo Samarai Secret Service gives them a little "visit."

KeithieW 10-22-2004 09:14 AM

Similar to here where when we hear Don Cab we have to put fingers in both ears and shout "Tell me when it's over will you?"

Primitive or not, it's fixed. There was a problem in the filename (likely because it was originally written in Japanese, and that tends to confuse the station software more than it's already confused).

Roger -Dot- Lee, are you SURE it's the left index finger and not the right?

Rick and Roll 10-22-2004 09:49 AM

Portrait of Margaret.....

the song by Adrian Belew played this morning.....it shows as being off of "The Lone Rhino"....it's off of "Desire By The Tail".

I think the actual title is "Desire Caught By The Tail", but other than that, he's right...

Glass Harp

Glass Harp album is "Hour Glass" not "Hourglass".

Ever fix this one?

Also, "Freeway Jam" by Jeff Beck (studio version) seems to be in the database twice. There's also the live version, but that one stays.

Along with "Portrait", "Fish Head" played today and it said it was ALSO off Lone Rhino.

It is off of "Twang Bar King".

If I were a conspiracy theorist, I'd say Adrian pissed off you guys something fierce. If you were a conspiracy theorist, you would say I'm getting paid by him.

The answer I'm sure is somewhere in-between. Every Belew song is not off of Lone Rhino.

So it is. I've fixed the album covers.

If you're getting paid by him and you're not sharing, then there's some serious problems here....

Caravan "Be ALright" should be "Be Alright"

Roger -Dot- Lee 11-13-2004 10:35 AM

Both the filename and the tags show AL. I'm going to leave it that way pending clarification.

Roger

Al Right

Was a famous mathematician/progger. Famous in the Cantebury scene for measuring record covers to make sure he could roll doobies on them, he was painstakingly meticulous in his craft.

True to his name, he specialized in right angles, but never turned down the occasional Isosceles Triangle.

It is false that he formed the band Mathematicians.

He was born on in 1960.53 ib the town of Chatham-on-anal.....

I'm sorry I just can't help it sometimes!:D

A couple of correctables

Posted this to the wrong forum.. so here ya go with a couple I noticed today...

The lone Terry Riley track in the catalog is listed as by "Tery Riley"

"Modoc" played off the Steve Morse "High Tension Wires" album, but that track is a nice classical guitar piece. What played was quite fast-paced, ending with a train barreling through!!

Spaz is likely right on this. If I make a typo when I load the CD info, (or if freedb has it incorrect), both the file name and tag will be consistent, and wrong. You can go ahead and repair, if I don't beat you to it.

Ditto the Terry Riley - I don't like getting into VNC during Gagliarchives - always afraid of taking the whole thing down...

I'm hip. I usually have it up. I'll go ahead and fix Al. I've already fixed Tery, since I did an Amazon search and found the name out there.

I agree.....there's no reason for it to be AL....that's why I posted such a goofy one.

Actually, it was quite amusing. I got a kick out of it.

I was trying to figure out when 1960.53 was, though. Would that be the 53rd day or would that be 53% in during the year?

Roger -Dot- Lee, inquiring minds, &c

just a little mathematical humor....anything with a decimal will do.

I tend to do these things on the fly. ;)

Album cover........

1 Attachment(s)
I think the album cover for Gong's "You" might be incorrect. The cover that comes up is for a compilation album I think. I have a feeling that the correct one used to be displayed but seems to have changed recently.

I have a picture of the correct cover. I'll try and attach it.

OK, this is starting to really twiddle my bits. I have no idea how I missed THIS one. Perhaps it didn't jump out and start humping my leg or something.

Anyway, it's fixed.

Roger -Dot- Lee, anyone got a hose?
