Love the thread of course. Only suggestion might be to have a separate sticky thread for comments and ramblings to updates. But it really doesn't matter. :D

Yesspaz 07-31-2004 12:36 PM

I'm just saying, it's about time to start it over.

New Additions: front page - 4 new Kaipa albums!
What was that, 9 months ago?

I love the thread, just needs to be started over. This is just my opinion, and you remember how much you paid for it.

I read that as a little over 4 months. If it'd been like 8 months three weeks or something, I wouldn't have mentioned it. But a half year...well, I'm sure you see the point.

Holy crap! Rick and Roll and VAX agreeing with Spaz in the same day?!?!?! Are the stars aligned or something? :D

Seriously Roger.Lee. It's not like some vital thing, I just think it's getting long. That's all. I won't even mention it again. It matters a hill of beans.

Yeah, I noticed that myself. I was wondering if I'd stumbled upon an alternate reality or perhaps the wrong Aural Moon or something.

Oh, I know. I was just pulling people's legs. The biggest reason I put them all in one place, though, is to have a running record of what was uploaded when. It makes updating the site a lot easier.

And besides, I was thinking of restarting once we'd filled up page 10. :D

KeithieW 08-01-2004 02:07 AM

The mossy one comes up with the answer.

Sticky thread that is Read only for the updates and Roger's thread for comments/flames/witticisms.

Easy really guys. :D

Oh, yeah. That's right. Sorry 'bout that, Spaz.

Now if you all will excuse me, I think I'll go have a raging case of the screamin' heebie-jeebies now.

Yeah, I think it is, and toss Keithie's on top of it. The only problem with that is that it's a LOT easier THIS way for Rick to come along and point out spelling errors. He doesn't have to switch threads that way. :P

new top ten funny right there.....

Rick and Roll 08-02-2004 06:39 AM

picking and choosing...

my spots.

I believe the only grammatical correction I've made recently is in response to the correction of the apostrophe. I figured that if Spaz was so detailed about that, he wouldn't have been careless about A and AN.

I'm no linguist (well maybe Ian Gillian's type on "Knocking At Your Door)";) , but

here are some common ones:

their and there
to and too
its and it's

the big one, completely attributable to typing too fast, is Avian's favorite, "teh" instead of "the". He's good for one of those every day on the shout.

Oh MY yes. Those make my teeth itch, too.

Plus, my all time favorite: For all intensive purposes.

That one will ALWAYS make me cringe.

Roger -Dot- Lee, who's been doing a lot of cringing lately.

zvinki 08-02-2004 08:20 AM

And my favourite is "should of" instead of "should have" (don't you dare mention starting a sentence with "And"). Of course living in Quebec I am exposed to a whole slew of English bastardizations unique to French Canada.

Rick and Roll 08-02-2004 09:35 AM

from the English speaking-bastard...

in accounting, we have the "fiscal year". It always ends up being the "physical year".

In the old Jeopardy shows, I used to think Art Fleming was saying "be North Pacific" instead of "be more specific".

And.......:D

Roger your teeth itch? I'd get that checked out!

I am usually a lot more careful about song titles and album titles and stuff that'll be "permanent" than I am abouty my posts - if that makes sense. And I want to point out that it wasn't A and AN, it was AN and AND. And I want to start this sentence with the word "and" to. So their you have it. Its been great talking too you.

In other words, I casually proof-read my posts, but diligently proof my setlist posts for BrainRock. Diggity.

I was wondering about all the song titles having strange thingies around the letters. This would explain it, of course.

It's a piece of cake on the Wonderful Macintosh™, and just slightly more complicated on the Evil™, Nasty™ Windoesn't systems. As someone else pointed out, just find the character map utility. It's got all KINDS of cool stuff in it.

Roger -Dot- Lee, disappointed that Windoze doesn't support Cyrillic like it should.

Updates for today

Greetings and salutations, music lovers!

In keeping with my rank stubbornness, I have again uploaded and configured a whole BUNCH of Jim's handiwork for your enjoyment.

Personally, I'm REALLY looking forward to some of the Steve Stevens. Flamenco guitar just makes me squeal like a little kid sometimes.

Anyway, again, in no particular order....
  • Dream Theater - Awake
  • Stevens, Steve - Flamenco A Go Go
  • Dream Theater - Images And Words
  • Dream Theater - Scenes From A Memory
  • Dream Theater - The Silent Man
  • Stevens, Steve - Flamenco A Go Go
  • Dream Theater - When Dream And Day Unite
  • The Flower Kings - Stardust We Are
  • Lest - 3937
  • Pain Of Salvation - Entropia
  • Stevens, Steve - Flamenco A Go Go
  • Pain Of Salvation - The Perfect Element Part I
  • Stevens, Steve - Flamenco A Go Go

Did I mention that I REALLY like Flamenco guitar?

Enjoy! I'll likely be stuffing the queue as time and circumstance allows.

Roger -Dot- Lee, trying NOT to make Stevens, Steve the next Mike Oldfield.

And big thanks for two albums I really love, The Perfect Element and Stardust We Are. Phenomenal stuff! Thank you guys!! :)

Rick and Roll 08-13-2004 05:43 AM

the dark side

we have crossed over the bridge.....on the wings of Charon....to the dark side!

Thanks to Woj, to remind me Stardust is updated. I skipped over it - I was so dumbfounded by the Theater!

Anyway, I have three of the four added:D

Roger - you're not bucking for Billy Idol are you?

Have at it people I'll be back tomorrow.

moses 08-13-2004 08:22 AM

I feel...

Horror. Revulsion. Fear. Disbelief. Hopelessness...

Searching...

RELIEF!

The DT additions are single songs, not entire albums. Some of them are instrumental tracks. Whew.

progdirjim 08-13-2004 11:12 AM

hehehehe

haven't had this much morning forum activity in awhile.

Yes, the DT additions are individual tracks. They are a subset of those Tommy (he of Extended Play fame) hand picked awhile ago. I pared a few out, and I'm comfortable with the ones added. If all DT sounded like these, we'd have more of them.

That Steve Stevens is a find. I knew he was a reasonably talented guitarist when he played with Billy, but his work with Bozzio-Levin-Stevens was a pleasant surprise. A friend turned me on to this solo album, and I really like it. Feedback is welcome.

Billy Idol being added? If you thought DT was a long shot...:D

and no other comments on Pain Of Salvation? Some people call them prog-metal. My description to Avian awhile back was this: DT is a prog band playing metal music. POS is a metal band playing prog music. It may sound subtle, but it's a significant difference. At least in my opinion...

I will be pushing up daisies after having been run over by a runaway herd of wild Alpaca before I EVER request, push for, or do anything but burn, crush, incinerate, or fling from high locations, anything by Billy Idol.

"Eyes without a Face" is a good song - great guitar work on it.

I bought the BLS first one, and I liked it at first but it bored me later. SS is a good guitarist though.

I have to listen to Pain some more. It's not the genre that concerns me it's just unexciting.

Alpaca? there's a visual.....

OK, now that everyone is over the shock of DT, I've got a bit of feedback on the Steve Stevens album.

I am personally very glad that I heard his work before I was aware that he was at one time associated with Billy Idol, or that would likely have jaded me away from what has turned out to be one of the best albums on the Moon. Now I'm quite aware that there might be others that disagree with me, and, as I've said in the past, they're all welcome to their opinion, no matter how wrong it is. This has become, in my opinion, one of the better sleepers on the entire site. It's NOT just Flamenco guitar, but an interesting fusion of Flamenco with assorted and sundry other styles.

And he makes it WORK!

This is a real gem, Jim. Ya hit the jackpot on this one.

Roger -Dot- Lee, STILL groovin' on it.

It's a single track that was part of a Gnosis show a few months ago.

As for the rest of the CD, well....

Some New Stuff

Greetings, faithful readers!

We've just made a nice little update to the library. I ran a few of the tracks earlier today, and liked what I heard. I may take a few moments on occasion and randomly slap one on the queue (new music manager's perogative).

Anyhoo, here they are:
  • Programme D'Experience - Thought Molecules
  • Stealing The Fire - Hot Ice & Wondrous Strange Snow
  • Zen Rock and Roll - End Of The Age

Enjoy!

Roger -Dot- Lee, liking the Zen one so far....

podakayne 08-27-2004 05:26 PM

hey Roger-DOT-lee!

i heard all 3 of those today...and i was very busy...but took note of the names in my itunes player....i like all 3!

your work is seamless but not unnoticed!

great additions
thanks:)
