Yawn city! What's a Moonie anyway? Do we count those who have listened just a few times? Musicians? Groupies? Maybe I'll pump in Aural Moon at the Hillionaire's weekend to get a few hundred more... (on a serious note I like the way word is getting around about this humble station...)

I think logistically Rosfest wouldn't be feasible for an event like that on a lot of levels. But it remains a great idea.

Say hi to Julius Caesar and.....oh you mean British Columbia!

Roger -Dot- Lee 10-21-2005 11:48 PM

And I must say, for the first moonie I've had a chance to meet, I doubt I could have picked a better dinner companion. The food was decent, and the company stellar.

We have GOT to get together again, this time when I'm not exhausted from a week's worth of 12-14 hour days followed by a full weekend at work plus the ... stuff we discussed briefly (there are some things that a man just shouldn't be subjected to in his own home, ya know?). I'll post other commentary once I get a few moments to rub together.

Dr. Dot, signing off.

Is it my imagination, or have you lost a bit of weight there Rick? And is that a Prog Day 98 shirt? And Roger.Lee cut his hair? And Nadina is grinning way too much in those photos. :knowing:

Ok, just kidding about that one. :smirk:

KeithieW 10-22-2005 02:28 AM

Man you all look so well.

Rick that's quite a transformation there my friend. I bet you feel a lot better for it too.

Dr Dot you look great too. Shame you lost the floating DNA somewhere along the line :)

Nadina, I love tie-dye shirts. Gives me flash backs to the 70s and London club nights.

kirk 10-22-2005 11:51 AM

great you folks can get together this way!
if any of you find yourself in seattle (rick, BC's only 150 mi. up the road)
drop a line.
i'll show you around beautiful gig harbor, take you to silver platters,
which stocks almost every prog disk/vid known to man.

Avian 10-22-2005 08:43 PM

This is a test to see if this thread is operating OK

A little professional advice... don't take pix into the light.

Rick and Roll 10-25-2005 12:32 PM

after many travels and not much time, I was very unconcerned about the pic quality. It's a miracle Moses got that done at all!

Can anyone name the band on my sweatshirt?

Thanks Moses for putting me up. Listening to Pittsburgh radio and fighting the morning rush hour traffic, then the heavy snow (yes snow!) and the trucks on the Parkway was all worth it. Doing 70 in the elements is not to be repeated.

Chatting on the Moon with dueling computers was surreal...

podakayne 10-25-2005 02:38 PM

just glad to have you safe and sound...the pic is prime with those great big smiles plastered across your faces.

Can't tell. Too much glare.

DOH! Was that my out-loud voice?

Yah, indeed. In fact, I even got to see one of VAX actually smiling.

And you betcha I'm gonna use it for blackmail material some day. :P

Roger -Dot- Lee, in one of his moods again.

fringe Moonies

there are some pics posted from this weekend that have me in them, plus a bunch from the Salem Hill shows...I just have to pull it all together etc.

Spreading the Moon word around with my bully pulpit....

Yes she did, but I categorically refuse to acknowledge that you had anything to do with it. I mean the Himalayan Yak and the Lime Jello was one thing, but the Windoze XP CD just gave it away. It HAD to be doctored.

Roger -Dot- Lee, not believing it for even a second.

the mossy family

I had the pleasure of meeting the Mossy family last night at the Steve Hackett concert in Santa Ana. I'll post a review of the show when I get time. Even the warmup act (Tom Griesgraber) was excellent - the best stick player I've ever seen.

My "met moonies" list:
Davin and Karen
Keithie
Vaxman and Mrs. Vax
Rick
Mossy and family
plus I have a few friends who listen but never post.

and I'm hoping to add Mailotron and Elric next month:dogpile:

mossy 10-29-2005 03:55 PM

It was a real treat to meet you, Jim, and R. My only regret about the whole thing was that we didn't have more time. How was the private box?

I agree, Tom Griesgraber is a one talented musician (GrIse-grAber, long I and A, not grease-grabber as I thought :-\ ) What an instrument that stick is. My fave piece of his was the "Jungle". Amazing. Phil talked to him and bought all three cd's - the solo effort and two by Agent 22. Looking forward to giving them a listen. Website for anyone interested: http://www.thossounds.com/tomgriesgraber.html

It was worth that long drive to Santa Ana and back in one day just to hear Steve and co. do the bits from Acolyte. When they started Hands of The Priestess, Part II, I thought I was going to pass out. Alot of pieces from the Bay of Kings too...really nice. (I'll defer to Jim and his excellent reviewing abilities at this point)

Concert ended at what...midnight? So we started the trek back to LV because Phil had to work the next day. Missed the turn and ended up driving down the road to San Diego! Got on the right track back at Oceanside but it added alot of time to the trip. Finally rolled into LV at 7 am.

See you at the next southern left coast gig, Jim. Let's organize it better next time and do dinner too.

Here's a picture taken at my recent 50th Birthday Party.
Left to Right are:

Back Row - The long suffering Pam, Jamforte, Laxmi, Thor, KeithieW
Front Row - Rogor Mortis, VAXman, progdirjim

A lot of pictures were taken that night and a few videos too. I have a feeling that some of them will be making their way here fairly soon.

I'll second that! My brain was as "quisp" as that character on my infamous T shirt. The traversing of so many time zones -- EST to PST to GMT -- had me in quite a haze for the party but I managed to drink it to the end. I'm still amazed that I found my way back to the hotel in that alcohol distorted sense of direction challenged condition.

Re: Moonies Meeting Moonies

At ROSfest, I got to add more moonies to my list. Ricknroll and OCEANvic and the rest of VAX's family. VAX should be posting a pic soon of Rick, VAX and I. SO the tally now goes, in order: mossy, jazzraptor, VAXman and Mrs. VAXman, nadina, Avian and wife, the rest of VAX's family, ricknroll, and OCEANvic. Hope I didn't leave anyone out. Hope more of you come to ROSfest 2007 with Pendragon. See ya there.
