Holy Mother of Perl!

We've been busy, folks. First, we get a whole slew of them earlier this week, and then we get a whole slew again, plus a half a slew on top of that!

Here's what's new:
  • Bacamarte - Depois Do Film
  • Blezqi Zatsaz - Rise And Fall Of Passional Sanity
  • Discipline - Push And Profit
  • Ensemble Nimbus - Scapegoat
  • Eyestrings - Burdened Hands
  • Galadriel - Mindscrapers
  • National Health - Complete
  • Nirgal Vallis - Y Murio La Tarde
  • Parmenter, Matthew - Astray

Enjoy, folks! That's a LOT of REALLY cool stuff we just added....

Roger -Dot- Lee, more and more impressed by the day...

progdirjim 06-09-2004 08:59 AM

Did I not upload Matthew Parmenter like I thought I did, or did you forget to mention it? Or is there some other more sinister explanation?

Rick and Roll 06-09-2004 09:29 AM

up already?

In my excitement to request, I have found the answer (I hope).

The Parmenter is loaded, but the Eyestrings was not.

Very sinister.............

Uh...they're both up there. I neglected to mention the Parmenter because I was plumb tuckered out. They're both up there...

Roger, who's gonna get some sleep next time.

Oops redux

Sorry, boss, nothing sinister this time. I just misapplied my brain and forgot to post about it. It's installed, and, as I recall, a couple have already played. As for the Eyestrings, I'd loaded it, but evidently the Database Gods(TM) didn't accept my offer of a rubber chicken, so I had to re-do it.

That was done this afternoon.

Anyhoo, that's what happened. Oops. I was tired and sleep deprived (Hey! I'm depraved on accounta I'm deprived!)

Oh, and about that one National Health song that I'd mentioned elsewhere: I think it's a good call to leave it off. It makes no sense and will likely leave people scratching their heads than anything else. Something along the lines of "What was THAT?" springs to mind right off hand...

Yah, well there is a certain amount of pleasure involved in that, and hell I may pop it on the stack just for the WTF factor myself. But eight seconds of BZZZ and WOOBOOWOOBOO is ... well, strange. Hrm. Next time I see some GY!BE, I might pop it on either side of it!

Now THERE'S an idea....:D

Rick and Roll 06-11-2004 09:58 PM

oh you mean Phlakaton?

That's a funny tune! If someone wants to waste their request on that tune. I say go for it! I mean the Who has a 14 second or so tune, and what's the one off of Fragile, like 40 some seconds?

Seems more bother to leave it out.

Here's the liner notes on the tune:

"At last on record, Pip's (Pyle) grudging acknowledgement of the commercial need for a drum solo. Go down a storm in the States".

That's a lot of work for an 8 second song. Look, I even remembered the name of the tune without peeking!

Bring it back! Just don't attach it to GYBE!

Well, now, I didn't expect it to have such an overwhelming following!

And since it's so popular, I might convert it into a station ID! That way it'll get all KINDS of play!

Roger "But seriously, folks" -Dot- Lee

Rick and Roll 06-13-2004 10:07 AM

that would be cool

that way Xanadu could get a break every once in a while. And if you were feling really jaunty, you could include Floyd's "Several Species" song too!

Roger -Dot- Lee 06-18-2004 04:34 PM

More cool stuff!

Greetings and salivations, ladies and germs!

We've got a few more additions to the wonderful AM library. I'm looking forward to checking this new stuff out myself.
  • The Balkanescu Quartet -- Possessed
  • Fred Frith -- Gravity
  • Kevin Moore -- Ghost Book
  • Jean-Luc Ponty -- Individual

Roger -Dot- Lee, who should have had this stuff stuffed and mounted yesterday. *blush*

moses 06-21-2004 07:26 AM

Balanescu

For those who aren't aware, the Balanescu Quartet stuff is mostly string quartet arrangements of Kraftwerk songs... interesting!

progdirjim 06-28-2004 04:39 PM

Gongzilla - Suffer
Tunnels - Tunnels
Cathedral - Stained Glass Stories
Scott Lindenmuth Group - Penalty Phase
Styx - Man Of Miracles
Styx - The Serpent Is Rising

I think Roger dot had already posted this, but we had some serious weirdness with the forums over the weekend...

Yesspaz 06-30-2004 02:10 AM

no thanks to the hacker, this is the third time I've posted how glad I am Popol Vuh is hear. A major influence on Tarentel, they are one of the forgetten Krautrock bands, but are incredible.

KeithieW 06-30-2004 02:13 PM

Opeth on the playlist..........

I just noticed that there is an Opeth track on the playlist. When was this added?

I must admit to not liking anything this band have ever done apart from the "Damnation" album which has some great tracks on it.

I'm surprised that a few more weren't added.......was this the only one you thought fitted Jim? Just interested to know.

progdirjim 06-30-2004 02:15 PM

I actually had nothing to do with Opeth being added. Based on the little I've heard of them (Inlcuding snippets of "Damnation"), I'm not interested in them...

Yes, but we were missing a song which I added. I didn't mention to Rger that it was only one song that was new...

Am I right to guess that we'll be seeing more and more Popol Vuh in the future, Jim? :D

I didn't realize Grace Under Pressure WASN'T in the library! Now if we can just convince him to add Presto and Counterparts... :p

Rick and Roll 07-15-2004 09:00 PM

a lot to add

True Spaz - Bands like Tull and Rush, although my faves, have a lot of the catalogue missing.

However, I like that rather than the alternative of not giving other bands play...................

You (and everyone else, for that matter) are welcome to use use any of my stuff. Just give credit where appropriate (IE don't go spreading around that it was from me, but if a compliment comes along out of it, let them know you'll let the originator know...that sort of thing)

Grace Under Pressure was here, but it predated me and was ripped at 64K - i.e. BAD quality. I just re-ripped it off of my CD.

More Popol Vuh is likely. I would call them my favorite Krautrock band, keeping in mind I put Tangerine Dream in their own category.

No need for donations of Presto - I have it; or Counterparts - I used tohave it and traded it in I liked it so little. And I pretty much NEVER trade in CDs... Point being I'm not likely to add it.

RnR - what Tull are we missing? I think we have most of the prime stuff. I know we're missing Under Wraps, which I don't think much of...

Rick and Roll 07-16-2004 01:03 AM

oh no!

Not the Counterparts again! I'll just have to play it myself.

Term - beat me to it, that's a funny line of Roger's! A classsic!!!!!

It's very late in my neck of the woods.....tell you what Jim....can you list what you do have....and I'll list what I think should come next in order all the way to the very last one.....I'll even list the crappy one(s)......

Yet Another Music Update!

A day late and a dollar short, as usual. This should have been uploaded yesterday, but I got busy, and other things happened, and, aw shoot, pick an excuse.

Here they are!
  • California Guitar Trio - Whitewater
  • The Flower Kings - Adam & Eve
  • Focus - Jan Akkerman & Thijs Van Leer
  • The Gak Omek - Alien Eye

Enjoy!

Sending July out with a *BANG!*

We've managed to locate some VERY interesting looking tracks (they all look interesting if you can read MP3 encoding, but that's another story, of course).

Anyway, here is the latest and greatest! Wonderful way of sending July out with a Whumph! or something like that.
  • Captain Beefheart and His Magic Band - Doc At The Radar Station
  • Captain Beefheart and His Magic Band - Trout Mask Replica
  • Poverty's No Crime - The Chemical Chaos
  • Zappa/Beefheart - Bongo Fury
  • Zappa, Frank - 200 Motels

As always, enjoying the music is encouraged, and tossing live ordinance at Microsoft Corporation, while cheered upon by a certain contingent of Aural Moon members, is generally frowned upon by the authorities.

Roger -Dot- Lee, debating whether his new found monicker "Dr. Dot" should become a standard part of his vernacular, and even going so far as to ponder changing his middle name to -Dot-...

Yesspaz 07-31-2004 11:36 AM

Beefheart..., nice.

On a totally unrelated note, I think it's time to restart this thread. It's almost as long as the original quiz one!
