Nice TV, lady!
Sasquatch (guitar is actually this guy's main instrument, but he plays another instrument too) - Andy Latimer, flute and pan pipes.
Honest felines

only 9 this time, so there can't be a two way tie! plus, a few of these might be kind of obscure...

Okay, we've done bass, drums, guitars, keyboards. What's left? Fortunately, at least one more question in the world of prog! The following are cryptic clues to musicians somewhere on Aural Moon who play an instrument OTHER than the above as their main instrument. (I'm not including vocalists who don't play an instrument.)

He's on the bridge of the Enterprise
Drink named after diner owner
Nose drain an enigma - Ian Anderson (anagram)
The ultimate beggar
Large, unintimidating stringman - Ray Shulman
A decent fellow, despite who he hangs out with - Jerry Goodman
Nice TV, lady!
Sasquatch (guitar is actually this guy's main instrument, but he plays another instrument too) - Andy Latimer
Honest felines

Ooh! they're neck and neck... Rick - 2, Keithie - 2...

KeithieW 01-21-2004 02:56 AM

That was an 'ard pick!!!! (groan)

He's on the bridge of the Enterprise - JEAN LUC PONTY (violin)
Drink named after diner owner
Nose drain an enigma - Ian Anderson (anagram)
The ultimate beggar - JOHN HELLIWELL, Supertramp (sax)
Large, unintimidating stringman - Ray Shulman
A decent fellow, despite who he hangs out with - Jerry Goodman
Nice TV, lady!
Sasquatch (guitar is actually this guy's main instrument, but he plays another instrument too) - Andy Latimer
Honest felines

looks like Keith will do it

you've got 4 and I'm not looking at it much today. Very nicely done (why I didn't think of the Next Generation is beyond me). Patrick Stewart's a fine actor, but the idea of an Englishman playing a Frenchman is weird.

Again, good clues and solutions!

Rick and Roll 01-21-2004 07:27 AM

ooh ooh

Mel Collins for the drink named after a bar owner!!!

Nice TV, Lady! and Honest Felines!!!!

Let's go!

Good work chaps! Keith - 4 Rick - 3
Nice TV, lady! is the hardest; I'm surprised no one's gotten the honest felines...

(oh, and to elaborate on the clue for #1, "Pont" is french for bridge...)

KeithieW 01-21-2004 12:18 PM

Jeeeeeeezus I'm dumb!!!!

Keith takes it with 5 - only one left is:
Nice TV, lady!

Hints: TV stands for television, not transvestite! Nice job, Keith - still battling for that top perv spot!
Female artist with one song on Aural Moon. You likely haven't heard of her.

KeithieW 01-21-2004 12:34 PM

You sly dog you!!!!! That's a sneaky clue Jim.

Honest felines - Frank Katz

Rick and Roll 01-21-2004 12:55 PM

another fine quiz

I wasn't thinking Frank Katz cause to me he's mostly a drummer - you did say there's one on there, though.

I'm addled about the nice TV thing, what does it refer to?

Wish I had more time to think today, it's turning into a long one.

OK Keith - CD titles, song titles, artists, or any other whimsy or faff
:)
you may come up with. We the masses are ready!

Vanessa Mae has one tune on AM called "Widescreen".....that's a nice TV (wish I could afford one :( )

Thought I'd round this little series off with singers. Well we've had everything else.

I'll be back!!!!

progdirjim 01-21-2004 01:19 PM

You guys know already, but Vanessa Mae is correct. Great job, I thought it might take just a bit longer.

Frank Katz is a midi-vibraphonist - I consider that significantly different than the trap drum set. I can play the trap drums fairly well, but the midi-vibes would present a fair challenge.

Take it away, Keithie!

KeithieW 01-21-2004 01:30 PM

This is good fun.....

OK. Singers/vocalists. Nine clues so that we don't get a tie. Some are, I think tricky, but knowing you guys there will be no problems.

1) Added Hydrogen by mistake for the third album but still sounded the same.
2) Angel after decrease.
3) Vicious dean comes about fruit.
4) This songbirds got sheep? Sounds like it!
5) Kith and Kin.
6) Moved away to start a different job.
7) Sings like he's just got off a long journey by air.
8) Maybe he should have been Swiss. No! There would be an eruption.
9) Dick and his ZX.

Good luck chaps

oops.

if I win, I'll concede to Rick since that might have been a big enough mistake to change the final outcome...

progdirjim 01-21-2004 03:18 PM

2 is Peter Gabriel

KeithieW 01-21-2004 04:25 PM

Jim 1 Rick 0 ...sorry man. I knew someone would say Hamill.

Clarifications

a) absolutely no need to cede any rightly won inane and superfluous contests, Jim. That Frank Katz was a great clue and had no bearing on the outcome.

b) again I am confused. The Gabriel reference - my brain must be fried, I don't understand.

c) that Hammill was a shot in the dark. I think I'm wrong that it was the 3rd VDGG, anyway!

progdirjim 01-21-2004 10:15 PM

Angel = Gabriel, after Peter = decrease

H to He was the first VDGG, I think. could be #2

I've had a disease with members of the extended Brand X lately - Mr. Robinson on your last question eluded me because I thought of Brand X, then I got confused thinking Robin Lumley was the only keyboardist...

6 is Annie Haslam. 7 is Bernardo Lanzetti from PFM - sang on the Jet Lag album. And maybe 8 is Jon Anderson - swiss reference to Moraz, "no" opposite (obviously) of Yes? 9 is Fish.
