Djam Karet

means "liquid time" according to the band. Maybe if there was a picture of Yesspaz's leg it might be horrific;)

Anything trippy could be the Flower Kings!

A film remake? Damn, I thought it was Starsky and Hutch..

correct, but the phrase was coined by Edgar Rice Burroughs in what I think is a sci-fi novel that contains a not too rosy future. I haven't read it though...

Rick and Roll 03-31-2004 09:39 PM

you should get a point

for that deduction!

i tried the remaining ones but I'm just getting old!

Bob Lentil 03-31-2004 09:56 PM

9 is Eloy from HG Wells' The Time Machine.

progdirjim 04-01-2004 12:45 AM

crap! Bob just beat me to Eloy...

is man in space Rocket Scientists?

Rocket Scientists typically design the vehicles but
don't usually travel on them.

But Bob Lentil is correct.

FYI, HG Wells spelled it Eloi.

KeithieW 04-01-2004 05:12 AM

Where are we with this one VAX?

Can you post an update of what's left and who's got what?

Would make it a bit easier.

Rick and Roll 04-01-2004 07:12 AM

maybe you will get somewhere

I asked that before Keith, no reply yet...................

moses 04-01-2004 07:29 AM

He's been editing the question back on page 1 of the thread with the answers and who got them... copy and paste...

1. trippy song lyric
2. sci-fi show episode: Spock's Beard: JamForte
3. middle-earth history: Marillion: KeithieW

4. words not drawn from a hat
5. blues men: Pink Floyd: Yesspaz
6. far from these things (or perhaps a cat): Procol Harum: ProgDirJim
7. J.R.R. Tolkien novel progenitor: Iluvatar: RickandRoll
8. seed drill inventor: Jethro Tull: JamForte
9. horrific vision of a mutated future race: Eloy: Bob Lentil
10. a space man: Klaatu: moses

So I guess we have numbers 1 and 4 left.

teermin8r 04-01-2004 08:48 AM

#10 a space man
isn't Man In Space, is it?

moses 04-01-2004 09:04 AM

#10

No, actually, I think someone tried that already.

I think just got it - Klaatu - the alien from The Day the Earth Stood Still.

teermin8r 04-01-2004 09:09 AM

next wrong guess. #1 trippy song lyric
Spaced Out?

VAXman 04-01-2004 09:36 AM

Spaced Out?

not. but moses is correct.

Rick and Roll 04-01-2004 12:13 PM

so for us working stiffs

what's the tally so far? Who has how many, and are there 2 left? Will Dick marry Jane?

nice one moses on no 10.

JamForte 04-01-2004 09:46 PM

another long shot #1 - the magic elf?

VAXman 04-02-2004 07:11 AM

nope... didn't this already get mentioned?

moses 04-08-2004 12:38 PM

Wrong

#4... I know I've heard this story (pulling words from a hat and using the ones that were left), just can't remember which band it is. So I'll guess King Crimson just to remind folks that this is still here.

A good guess, but don't "bank" on it being right.

Yesspaz 04-08-2004 01:26 PM

Ok, Genesis.

Rick and Roll 04-08-2004 01:29 PM

yeah but which one

Abacab, ripples, etc?

Or peter banks?

or ernie banks?

or tyra banks?

VAXman 04-08-2004 01:31 PM

You don't think that clue would be THAT easy, do you?

Rick and Roll 04-08-2004 01:36 PM

then it would be

on the money...Eddie Money, the signing cop?

Floyd's Money?

VAXman 04-08-2004 03:33 PM

Right continent but not the band.

Rick and Roll 04-09-2004 07:45 AM

Thor 04-09-2004 08:00 AM

trippy lyric

moody blues do Legend of a mind about timothy leary and taking trips arond the bay?

Thor 04-09-2004 08:02 AM

trippy lyric

then of course there is Porcupine Tree's 'Trip 39'
about meeting yourself on a stairway

VAXman 04-09-2004 08:07 AM

Yes they did but how does that relate to a band
name? Is there a "Timothy Leary" band or "Trips
Around The Bay"?

Rick and Roll 04-09-2004 08:19 AM

so confused

VAX it would help if all of the clues were together. I keep scrolling back to the beginning, and it's hard to figure out what's been guessed or left.

the clue is "trippy song lyric" and Thor guessed a band - Moody Blues. He also guessed Porcupine Tree. Seems to me he guessed a band name.

moses 04-09-2004 08:28 AM

OK so #4 is a European band, but presumably not Italian since VAX didn't say "right country." But he's being sneaky about it.

Anyhow, I'll guess Tangerine Dream, since VAX is a fan of them.

Not so sure I left a clue for #1 yet with all the
guesses but, I've got to admit it's getting better,
a little better all the time.

Bingo!

teermin8r 04-09-2004 09:03 AM

moses was guessing #4 was Tangerine Dream not number one. Tangerine dream is the answer to number one. Number 4 still has not been answered. Correct?

Oops.... so he did... we'll the trippy song was

Is the next line after "getting better all the time".

Rick didn't miss it (he says in the athlete 3rd person voice), just didn't know why it would be that tune. But, it was the tune after - but, there was no indication it was the tune after.

maybe "getting warmer all the time" may have done it.

sooooooooooooooooooo,

where the hell are we?

Should Moses and Jam get a question to break the tie?

need assistance...........

There's still one question left.... make it the tie breaker.

teermin8r 04-09-2004 09:16 AM

Yeah, number 4 still needs to be answered and I have spent several hours of research and have still come up with zilch. No more time today.
