Wehey thanks Jim... appreciate you taking time to comment about that... thanks.

I posted this elsewhere - but I forgot this thread existed - so I hope it's OK to post again here in the correct thread.

I have this last weekend purchased Frosts excellent Milliontown CD from iTunes - and all I can say is that this is quite simply some of the best modern progressive rock stuff I have ever heard.

I am what I term a sound geek i.e. I listen intently to certain sections of pieces (or maybe all of the piece if I like it that much) that appeal to me. We're all different i know, but what appeals to me can be either superb sounds (such as at the beginning of Steve Hackets Genesis Revisited - Dance on a Volcano - the instrumental at the start has some awesome sounds produced on a Alesis Andromeda Synth) or even a super unauthodox time sig such as 5/8, 7/16 etc... (told you I was a geek eh). Once I have id'ed a section I like I listen to it intently.

Well, there is a section in one of the tracks on this album - Hyperventilate - that fits this aptly.

Have a listen to what I consider superb lead synthesiser playing on this track at 5:53. The music goes into a wonderfully wild 5/8 section - totally headbanging stuff - and the keyboard playing is something I can only ever dream of attaining.

Someone please confirm for me that I actually am a sound geek, or that I am perhaps certified insane :)

nah, I love that sort of stuff, too, tMM! and I really like this band. I haven't bought the whole album yet, but I will.

Great, glad I am not the only one then Roger! :)

I also love the electric guitar solos prevalent in this genre. There's a great such solo in Black Light Machine just after the wonderful arppegiator effects at 2:56. What a classic electric solo - again, this album is just the best.

I've done one little piece of my own that isn't quite progressive rock génre - but is an electric guitar solo using a similar guitar sound to that heard here. If it's OK to post a link to this I am happy to, here goes... http://www.mrjohn.co.uk/music/electric.mp3

Please be kind!
