Come up with the funniest band acronyms based on band members. One example would be Robbie Kreiger with ELP (KELP). But any combo would do. I'll pick the funniest one.

Jim - no, not a thread killer. Just haven't been tuned into it. Maybe Keith can crack it.

Avian - I wrote an article about 5 years ago that was put in a small-time progressive magazine, and then wrote another one that didn't make it (since the mag folded). It contains all kinds of silly combinations of musicians and musical styles, based on a parallel musical universe predicated on, oddly enough, the very same HELP matching you referenced (only if Hendrix did join)!

Question: it is quite long - should I just post it on this thread (is there a limit? I think the forum members would get a hell of a kick out of it. If OK, I'll write it up later this evening. You won't be disappointed!

Go for it Rick.....gives me an idea for another thread.

Happy The Man Death's Crown has a song called "New York Dreams Suite"

A Farewell To Kings - Kings County, otherwise known as Brooklyn, is one of the boroughs of New York. This was the obscure one, but I thought it was wider known - I didn't think this question would be quite so hard. (In the liner notes, Rush does say "We remember Brooklyn!)

I got balled up over thinking it was a song off BIA (not the cover), and I have the first HTM which has the NY tune, and well, you get the idea.

A condensed version of the article (skipping the Phil Collins connection, who is the one constant between universes)-

Mitch Mitchell didn't have that extra drink, and HELM was born.
Carl Palmer went to "The Crazy World of Barry Manilow".
Hendrix didn't do as many drugs, eventually moved to France, renounced his US citizenship, thereby dooming the Seattle scene. Kurt Cobain went to LA, teamed up with Kenny Loggins, and put out "Footloose and Suicidal". Instead of the grunge scene as we know it, a new scene developed called YOGURT (Yuppie Original Grunge Underground Radio Tracks). Eddie Vedder was not a part, because he was working for Ticketmaster.

John Wetton ended up joining King Crimson when Lake should have - the first cut was "21st Century Ladies Man". The next two albums were titled "In The Waking Up With A Hooker" and "Lizard Tongue". Eventually Geddy Lee replaced Wetton, and Neil Peart joined Lee and Fripp as "The Power Trio League of Crafty Musicians". There was no Rush! Boo!

Bill Bruford stayed with Yes, and they collaborated with Wetton on "Open Your Thighs". Tony Levin ended up with Genesis, relegating Mike Rutherford to 20-string acoustic.

Hendrix killed himself after "Love Beach", and Robin Trower had no point of reference, became depressed, contracted an eating disorder, and put out "Bridge of Size".

Toni Iommi joined Jethro Tull, brought along Ozzy, and renamed the band "Jethro Sabbath". This band confused so many people, country music died out, leaving country artists to pair off with heavy metal artists, such as "The Dee Snider/Garth Brooks Explosion", "The Alice Cooper Project featuring Travis Tritt", and "The Ronnie James Duo" (RJD & Lee Ann Rimes).

Ray is the bassist. Gary Green played guitar. Again, Derek only sang and played sax.

What possible shred of fact supports this? Did Derek pick up a guitar on a show in Tuscaloosa in 1977? Stop it! This is too reminiscent of the "Lines In The Sand" discussion!
