not French, not German. Both artists happen to be English.
|
could be wrong...
I don't know if this is what progdirjim means, but perhaps it's a two-step process, like:
(Artist 1) "Loving is _____" (Artist 2) "_____ is Nothing" Also - they're English like from the UK, or that's their native language? |
being goofy
You mean like "Nothing Is Easy" (Tull) and "Easy Meat" (Zappa)?
|
answer
Perhaps "Jethro Tull - Nothing is Easy"
and "Barclay James Harvest - Loving is Easy" Therefore Loving is Nothing? |
Moses shoots and scores!
If you're right, I'd be happy to take the assist.
Nice job! |
Exactly right Moses, nice job!
Funny that you mentioned Easy Meat, Rick, because I was also thinking of "Meat = Money" as the question, combining Easy Meat (Zappa) and Easy Money (KC), but it didn't really work out. |
OK then which one of us is Uncle Meat?
Moses, please part the Aural Sea for a question..... |
and the BJH song is playing right now.
Since Rick is closer than Jim to Stu, alphabetically, why don't you be Uncle Meat. I'll be one of Calvin's hitch-hikers... |
For the birds...
OK, this one's all about fowl. Name the artist, song and bird. These are all AM songs.
HINT: The bird may be in the song, not necessarily in the title in all cases. 1. Water, water everywhere 2. Off the wall 3. Holy Spirit wings 4. A royal whim 5. She's your sister? Hope this isn't too easy... |
Re: For the birds...
Quote:
3) Mehdi - White Dove, Yes - Soft as a Dove 4) Trace - King Bird Not sure about 2 and I'm still working on the rest. |
so close... no not really
Actually, while those are all valid answers, none of them are the ones I was thinking of. I was worried about there being too many possible correct answers to this one.
However: 1) Albatross is the correct bird (think a different artist) 3) Yes is included, but not #2 4) part of your answer is correct. |
Re: so close... no not really

I've got to go out now............I'll think about these all bloody night now!!!!! |
Re: For the birds...
Quote:
2. Genesis - Cuckoo Cocoon - Cuckoo 3. Camel - The Snow Goose - Goose or Yes- Firebird Suite 5. Pendragon - Sister Bluebird - Bluebird and no, it's not too easy - good question! |
Getting there...
Quote:
The others are also very good answers but not what I had in mind. 2 - great answer, but I was thinking of a different bird. 3 is a goose, be more specific. 5 is so close, you're almost there. Score: Jim 1, others 0 |
first crack at it
5 is Starship Trooper (Sister Bluebird flying high above) by Yes
the Goose could be a Golden Goose, but only an Iron Maiden tune comes to mind! A loony for the off the wall? |

I apologize that this is turning into a game of "read Moses' mind." It's fun for me anyway. :p 1. Water, water everywhere - Pink Floyd - Echoes - Albatross 2. Off the wall 3. Holy Spirit wings (goose) 4. A royal whim 5. She's your sister? - Yes - Starship Trooper - Bluebird Score: Jim 1, Rick 1... 3 more to go... |
3.
Iona - The Flight of the Wild Goose (Instrumental) or Iona - Here I Stand (Here I stand looking out to sea and I say a prayer that the Wild Goose will come to me." The Wild Goose is the ancient Celtic symbol of the Holy Spirit. |
do we have a three way tie?
Looks good Yesspaz, waiting for confirmation from on high..
Off the Wall (not a cuckoo, maybe a loony)? AND A Royal Whim - from the guesses I'm thinking King is part of it - a Kingfisher maybe? |
another one bites the dust

She's your sister? - Yes - Starship Trooper - Bluebird Since we seem to need hints, here goes: They're both British bands, both from the 70's, both pretty well known, both still around today (with a few different members). 2. Was intentionally misleading, it has to do with the lyrics in the song... so maybe it's not OFF the wall, but... 4. Royalty has to do with the band's name, the whim has to do with the bird. Jim 1, Rick 1, Yesspaz 1... |
OK I'll try........
2) Porcupine Tree - And the Swallows Dance ............
I've got to get one right for god's sake. |
no
Keep trying, here's another hint: it's not a swallow.
PT was around in the 70's? |
D'oh!!!!!
British Band and Birds............
There's a Mockingbird singing songs in MY tree. BJH? |
I don't think so, Keith
I'm quite busy, so I'll help...
Moses said 70's bands, ruling out PT. I think the King refers to King Crimson. I'm also thinking the Wall is a Floyd refernce. |
royal whim = King Crimson - Lark's Tongue In Aspic
nice pass, Rick! Easy lay up with that assist... I was thinking off the wall was a Floyd reference too, so I listened to the whole stinking album (The Wall) but didn't catch it. I did rip the album for addition to the playlist though, so it wasn't a total loss... |
sneaking in a post
Grenchester (sp) Meadows off Ummagumma has birds tweeting all through it.....
|
another one for pdj

A royal whim - King Crimson - Lark's Tongues in Aspic - Lark 5. She's your sister? - Yes - Starship Trooper - Bluebird Just one more. I would have thought you'd have this one by now. It's not too difficult. In fact, it's nothing at all. ;) Jim 2, Rick 1, Yesspaz 1... |
Tull?
One White Duck? 0 to power of 10 = nothing at all

Jim 2, Rick 2, Yesspaz 1 Want a tiebreaker, or do you just want to flip for it? |
why doesn't Rick take it, since his assist on KC - Lark was key, and I've posed a question more recently....
|
Jim -
I can do one but it would be in a day or two - work is quite the bitch. I didn't expect to be competitive on this question, that's why I punted it before.
I should be able to do one by Wed. |
go for it - I'm going to be out of the competition for most of the next two-three weeks between work, skiing, and London - I may get a guess or two in if Keithie lets me near his computer though...
|
formulating a teaser
The travelling theme ties in well with the next question. I have some research to do, and this is a busy week for me, so hopefully you will see it by Monday.
It will involve the use of DISTANCE. |
ooh ooh!
is it...
D=RxT by the Pixies? |
Re: ooh ooh!

Don't worry it's not nearly as complicated as it sounds. I'll try to ask them by Monday. |
Geography!!!
OK, let's see how this goes. What you need to do is tell me, based on the clues, the two geographical regions mentioned. They could be countries, US states, or cities around the globe. Hell, there's even a space question!
There's no need to identify the songs, just the places. Each place could be part of a song title, or more frequently, part of a lyric. All of the artists are on Aural Moon, but three or four songs are not. I've also pinned each clue down to the continent, Without clues, I'll give you a bonus point. Otherwise, it's one for each question. Example: If I say, 90 miles from North America Elton John to North America Zappa, the answer would be Philadelphia (Freedom) and Baltimore (what's new in Baltimore). They are approx 90 miles apart. Let's go: 1) 600 miles from Eurasian Focus to European Jethro Tull. 2) 1,000 miles from Asian Rush to Asian Dregs. 3) 1,900 miles from North America Genesis to N. A. Djam Karet. 4) 1,000 miles from North America Zappa to N.A. Supertramp. 5) 0 miles from Noth American Transatlantic to Flower Kings. 6) 500 miles from North American Yes to N.A. King Crimson. 7) 60 light years from Celestial FM to Gentle Giant. 8) 1,430 miles from Central America ELP to North Amer Marillion. 9) 2,700 miles from African Al Dimeola to African Peter Gabriel. 10) 750 miles from European UK to European Mike Oldfield. Have fun, plenty of clues available! |
First stab....
1) Turkey - Budapest
2) Bangkok - Seattle 5) Memphis 7) Aldebaran - The Moon I'll get working on the rest in a while. |
Re: First stab....

[b]1) Turkey - Budapest Very close - Budapest is right and Turkey is close in proximity (very close) - I forgot Focus has a tune called "Turkey Lurkey" - however, I did not include place names if they weren't meant to be (eg PG's "San Jacinto" refers to the Indian, not the city so it wouldn't be admissible). Now here's the tricky part - It's a lyric in a Focus song (that should greatly narrow it down). 2) Bangkok - Seattle Bangkok is right, looking for Asia with the Dregs. 5) Memphis NO 7) Aldebaran - The Moon Yes! Check Avian for the distance :) So, Keith has 2 for #7, and a half point each for the other two = 3 points total. |
