There, there
Keith,
Maybe this will make you feel better - why don't you set the next question since I have no ideas for one right now. (actually, I was on the right track with Stanley Clarke - I guessed he played bass on those Dimeola albums. When that was wrong, I just had to take the time to actually grab the CDs and look...) |
yes I know
it's part of the charm!
I'll be off of the moon for a few days, but I'll check the forum tomorrow and Sunday PM. (if you ask a Barclay James Harvest question or something like that I'll be the one stabbing) |
Cryptic follow on.
Some more cryptic clues to guitarists.
1) Sounds like a guitar pub to me. 2) He wishes to remain unknown. 3) Red Monarch. 4) Horny Avenues? 5) Dutch Hi-fi voice overs by Woody Allen? 6) See vet who mixes it all up. 7) Turned around amid love rug. 8) Battle after old record label. 9) Edward the lathe worker. 10) Could he be going off at an angle? Take it away(e) peeps! |
quick run through
Going out for a few days, so here's a quick guess:
2) John Clark 5) Jan Akkerman? 6) Steve Hackett 10) The Edge |
Not one right Rick
Sorry mate....try again.
|
what monster have I created! oh well I'll wait until Sunday...
|
2=Jan Akkerman
10=Roine Stolt |
2 down 8 to go.

duh! 3=Robert Fripp.
Good question, you f@#$g bas#*&d! :cool: I'm trying to answer more than one or two at a time, but it's just too hard. Good one! |

of course!
the Anomymous (what a pain in the ass word to spell out) on the first record is really tight. The Two is better up front but drags with the individual solos - I think the organ solo is the best. Funny how on the record it's chopped into sides A and B.
Good one Keith I didn't connect unknown and anonymous - I thought "The Unknown John Clark" was it. |

groan city
but good - shows thought...........
see you in the morning. |
4=Randy Rhodes
and I hope I "win" the question, because I'm working on a similar question involving drummers... |
#1

all yours Jim
I'll be out tonight, so one more will do it - I'm cooked.
|
7=Phil Manzanera
8=Greg Lake 9=Frank Zappa I'm "clutching at straws" (ooh, Steve Rothery) here, so I'd be ready for a clue or two if Rick is... |

Both Anagram type clues. 8) Battle after old record label. His name isn't Norman Conquest and he may enjoy the apple or pumpkin variety even if it is spelt slightly differently. 9) Edward the lathe worker. His band could be described as "Pulled for luck on thanksgiving plus remains of a smoke." 10) Could he be going off at an angle? - Roine Stolte |
conceding
Got to get to work but I took advantage of the time difference to try to beat Jim to it.
6) is steve somebody - Rothery, Morse, Hackett, take your pick. 7) all I could get was glover. 8) is Pye Hastings. The record label reference confuses me. 9) the Band is wishbone ash. I can't make the connection with Turner or Powell, however. Please solve Jim, and next will be the drummers. Can't wait for the bell-tree, crotales, or triangle questions! |
Re: conceding

6) Yes!!!! Steve somebody - anagram of See vet who. 7) Anagram of Amid love rug - you'll be in the pink when you get it. 8) Pye Hastings is correct. 9) Wishbone Ash is the band. Think of a short version of Edward and another name for a Lathe Worker. |
ok...
6) I was wondering how you would fit Steve Howe in there.
7) David Gilmour 8) Got 8, but still don't know the record label reference. 9)Ted Turner or Jane Fonda Ok Jim wake up and "snare" us with a question! |
Truly devious, Keithie.
Same drill, cryptic clues for drummers: 1)Armored vehicle 2)College instructor 3)Shave stonecutter badly 4)Beer truck invoice 5)Generic drummer 6)Where is this guy? 7)Snake 8)He once performed very dense drumming 9)Beyond Pluto 10)Oh no! each answer is a drummer you can hear somewhere on Aural Moon. |
QUICK GUESS
oops get caps lock off....
not real confident, but - 1) Carl Palmer (Tank) 2) Neil Peart 4)Bill Bruford (good one!) 5) one of the Brand X drummers - there were many. If it is, can I just say Frank Katz? |
Good job Rick, right on all counts! I was thinking Phil Collins for the Brand X, but any of them is just as correct
I wasn't sure how well know "Professor" was, and I thought Bruford would take a bit longer... |
Got stuck on taking the Bruford as one term. After breaking it down to Bill = invoice, it fell together.
Ladies and gentlemen, the professor on the drum kit! Well, can't get back to it until much later, so now's the time to worm in anyone! If I get a few more, I might start thinking about keyboardists...... |

9)Beyond Pluto - Virgil Donati, Planet X Still looking at the others and I'm not too sure about 6). |
